Julian Lennon talks new album, 'Imagine' cover and 'Get Back' documentary

- Julian Lennon discusses "Jude," his first album since 2011. The 59-year-old singer-songwriter said, “For me, Jude was all about the coming-of-age in many respects, because it was hearkening back to some of the comments and lyrics in ‘Hey Jude.' It just felt like the right title and the right thing, and owning it. That was a different thing - being ‘Julian,’ being ‘Jules,’ being ‘Jude.’ Who I am. It’s about also breaking through any fear and anxiety I used to have about the Beatles, about Dad, about everything.”
Lennon later says that watching his father, John Lennon, in Peter Jackson's "Get Back" documentary "made me fall in love with him again."

Julian is such a good man and such a major artist and philanthropist. His mom would’ve been so proud of him and was while she was alive. His dad, maybe John could’ve seen what a beautiful man Julian was after he got over some of his own issues Julian, you’re adding so much love to the world.
Am I alone in this thought? Julian Lennon seems to be one of the kindest souls in the music business.

Read his Mom's autobiography! Julian and Cynthia went through a lot. I really like and respect Julian and his music. Take a sad song (world) and make it better.
I really like this guy. He is so talented and the most talented Beatles kid…. He seems so thoughtful and positive - he could be angry & negative but he always takes the high road.
George's son Dhani Harrison is really talented too to be fair dude sings just like his dad.

Have been a huge fan of Julian since his first album Valotte, but Photograph Smile blew me away--what an amazing record. Can wait to hear Jude.

John would be proud of Julian's version of his classic Imagine; he captured the spirit of it exactly, and he'd be proud of all his other work too. Julian always did have big shoes to fill if he was going into the music industry, as the public, fairly or unfairly was inevitably going to compare him to his father, but the man is talented enough to stand on his own. Thanks for uploading.

John's absence in his son's and in his mates' lives is a great lesson to be learned. My brother turned his back on us nearly 20 years ago and came back to announce his terminal illness, but only contacted me, only talking to one of my sisters just to get my number. In any case, I can understand the Lennon/Baird/Dykins families really being hurt by all this.

Some people save a rare and expensive bottle of wine for the most special occasion. Julian sort of saved "Imagine" in the same way.

Saltwater still affects me. I showed my 5 year old song the video and he noticed everyone is wearing masks. This was made in 1985! How crazy that now, we need masks more than ever because climate change is springing up more and more contagious viruses. My son has also read your children's book Julian. Thank you for all that you do for the environment. We need to be more concerned with it.
Saltwater; The Last Days by Marilyn Scott and Live Each Day by Warren Wiebe are great mind opening songs I've heard and Imagine by John.
Saltwater came out in 1991 on his album Help Yourself.
The reason why a lot of us in the USA didn't know that Julian had released five albums after Violate is because his distributor here, Atlantic Records didn't spend a lot of money promoting any of his follow up albums after his self titled debut. Heck.. the only reason why I knew about "The Secret Value of Daydreaming" was because Julian appeared on what used to be a syndicated radio programme here called "Rockline" promoting it after it was first released. The show was hosted by the late Bob Coburn. I was a regular listener of "Rockline" on Monday nights for many years back in the 1980's. Then around 1994, I found Julian's third album "Help Yourself" on cassette in a bargain bin at Wallyworld. Again, a great find that should've promoted more by Atlantic, especially since it was produced by the likes of Bob Ezrin, who produced several of Kiss'es albums along with Pink Floyd's and because the album was mastered in Q Sound.

I think its kinda cool his name was John Lennon, this whole time we all thought he was Julian Lennon. There are people who can literally say they saw John Lennon, but it was Julian.
This will sound harsh but I can't help but feel he's squandered alot of his time and talent. It's been almost 40 years since he came on the music scene and he showed some brilliance at the beginning but he really doesn't have alot to show after all these years.
Cynthia had to be a gentle soul. Anybody can see and hear that through Julien's voice. 'Twas the woman and mother behind that boy, back then. John had the same later on.
Paul did not let Jude (or John) down, after all.
