Shipping with tradition
Lake Hallstatt is connecting Dachstein communities, Hallstatt, Obertraun, Bad Goisern and Gosau as the centre, and shipping has always played an important role as a mode of transport. But also an event for connoisseurs, because only from the lake do you have a unique view of the World Heritage site and the surrounding mountains of the Dachstein Salzkammergut holiday region.
Boat trips at Lake Hallstatt since 1862
Since the railway station in Hallstatt is located on the other side of the lake, there is a liner boat service from Hallstatt railway station to Hallstatt. The liner "Stephanie" regularly sails to the trains all year round. The line Hallstatt to the railway station, exists since 1881, is until today the only ship connection on an Austrian lake, which is maintained also during the winter months.
The Lake Hallstatt Schifffahrt Hemetsberger GmbH, owned by the Hemetsberger family since autumn 1967, consists of a fleet of four ships.
Various round trips are offered:
Boat tours over Obertraun - duration approx. 50 minutes
Boat tours via Steeg - duration approx. 1 1/4 hours (in 2021 unfortunately those boat trips are not available)
Ship transfer to Hallstatt railway station all year round
Special trips possible throughout the year by prior arrangement
Short boat trip from the bus terminal to the city centre
with registration (for groups) e.g. in connection with a local tour
In winter there are also punch rides on the heated ship "Goisern"

Boat trips hardly ever disappoint. This one was exceptionally beautiful in my humble opinion. The coastal views of Hallstatt and the surrounding mountains looked picture perfect. I liked the music; it suited the watery ride and I could still hear the nature sounds and people talking in the background. Honestly, it looks so much like Switzerland that you could have easily fooled me by saying it's Switzerland. Well done! A fantastic trip Mark! ✨💖👍🏻💖🥰

Great filming and editing as usual ! The colors are beautiful! I see that you have done 2 version’s one with music and one without, I would have been curious to see if you would’ve uploaded the version without music at first …probably as much viewing would’ve been seen . It would be great to know how much love music compare to no music but I am sure there’s some audience for both . I will mixed you up now by saying I love to have both in the same video , I like to feel when music is needed and when natural sounds are .
For the 10% less difference in the mid tones doesn’t make a big difference for me …maybe having them next together would ???
We could see some distortion when that Chinese woman was close on the upper deck filming with her iPhone, was this what you were talking about and made you bought your Sigma lens ?

@@SergeCousineau i'm not perfect with videos but i learn over the years ;) memory problems is not good ;) i had to buy a new pc with new processor ryzen 9 5950x + 128 Ram memory to edit 8K 30P in 1/4 quality without making proxies to edit ( it saved me allot of time with editing ) i'm 2 video ahead right now :D now i have some time for my self and do things in my appartment have a great sunday mark,

I’ve been there. 1982. Beautiful little town. When was this video shot? A fried told me that Hallstatt is now overrun with tourists but it looked okay in this video.

Thank you for this beautiful video of a beautiful place on a beautiful day. Only thing that would make this better is less music. Maybe ok at the beginning and end of the vid. But this is too much and takes away from the tranquil scene. Liked and subbed!

@@TheFlyingDutchMan8K I was supposed to go this week to Hallstatt but due to lockdown I ended up going to Bratislava. The bus drove through Graz and Vienna and it was snowing. I might go to Austria next month depending if it opens up.
@@AnthonyJosh my plan is to go egypt but covid-19 ruins it so i cancled my trip. . i booked switzerland this morning. . Just got email you need negatieve covid test and 10 day quarantaine in switzerland. . OMG i need videos for Febr. March an April. . . Hmmm

We have been there! The residents made it clear they were not happy to see tourists on their streets in a rental car. The schnitzel was incredible, but the waiter very rude. Not a welcoming experience, sorry but that is our memory of Halstadt.
Sorry to hear. But you know, the Austrians are pretty strict when it comes to rules. Halstadt is a small place, and very crowded with traffic and tourists. They have their rules in order to avoid total chaos, and they expect visitors to be aware of them and follow them.
Rimrock I have Austrian background, and I agree with you. We are rule makers and followers:)
But the unfriendliness in this small place had nothing to do with that. Maybe we looked a little too north American casual, or my Austrian was a little rusty. Again, the schnitzel was perfect...best to stay on the riverboat ...
@@undederayda2073 I see. I bet some locals are in general a bit 'stressed out' concerning tourists in that small place. Pre covid I understand there were like 1 mill visitors a year, 2500 a day. Many locals possible 'hate' the big number of tourists, most just going to a take a picture then leave without spending a night, or any money in resturanst and so on. But at the same time they need a certain number of them to 'stay alive' )
