  • A man is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of his parents at a home in St. Catharines Monday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to 47 Elma St. shortly after 12 p.m. and found the couple inside without vital signs.
Niagara police identified the couple Wednesday as 75-year-olds Celine-Marie and Harold Owens.
In an update Thursday, officers say they arrested and charged 43-year-old Sean Owens of St. Catharines with two counts of first-degree murder.
Owens is being held in custody pending a bail hearing Friday at a St. Catharines court.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact investigators at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009462.

Bail hearing??? Bail??? Did I hear right? Bail? Can you really get bail for murder? For murdering 2 people? For murdering 2 eldery people in their home???? Only in Canada, that's insane, that there is even going to be a hearing for murder is insane.

They are entitled to a hearing but does not mean it will be granted.
Sucks but even with evidence, are considered innocent under the law.

You should educate yourself. Everybody has a bail hearing within 48 hours of arrest. Bail can be denied and the accused is remanded into custody, or a bond is set, for murder it would be a million plus.

Shirley Turner shot her American husband dead in cold blood and broad daylight at a park. She fled to Canada, as she was initially from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Shirley Turner was not only granted bail, but she was granted custody of her child over the grandparents (the parents of the slain man).
The judge, when granting bail, called the murder “specific in nature” essentially arguing that she had killed the man she wanted…therefore she was no longer a threat to others.

he will be out in two years tops on good behaviour, no priors, and after taking some remedial course of ethics and morality while in jail or under house arrest. meanwhile his parents will remain dead. welcome to canada. happy new year still.

Sometimes police just focus on someone handy unfairly while the real killer gets away. There is no mention of an altercation or motive. Just a 43 year old man suddenly kills both his kind parents. Odd.

i know these kids and these people as i grew up down the street..Steve was ok but Sean always seeme dlike he was off so this isnt surprising as kids id ask them to play baseball or basketball at the park Steve would be the one to play if at all but Sean always seemed so odd..he would never hang around any of us smoking joints or whatever, then i hear about this and they found him sitting on the curb as police showed up, he was handcuffed and borught away in a cruiser so right away im thinking he did it. and that odd mentailty or behaviour as a kid tells me hes a murderer..sio thats why he was so odd all thsoe years.. he knew who and what he was i just stayed away form this kid he was just so odd..he was always asked to hang out in the park so was his brother...but this kid i think most jsut styaed away from him becasue he was like that.. anyways i only met his parents a couple times at best and they didnt seem bad.. but Steve loses his parents and his brother now probably for the rest of his life so he probably needs a supporting environment for himself
