BIKEHACK - Crankarms, cut some old inner tube to length (26 or 27.5 seem to work best) slide up the arms, fit pedals = done.

Great Video - sound advice. My Trek emtb has now done 14000 miles (well I have actually, the bike has carried me). I change the whole drivetrain every 2000-3000 miles, as it's just a 9 speed and the parts are cheaper. I don't overclean the bike, just concentrate on the parts that can wear like drivetrain, pedals, suspension, linkages. I protect the frame where it can rub with carbon fibre look wrap (the kind people put on cars), it's not expensive and can be cut to shape & when heated with a hairdryer, doesn't come off. Finally, every month or so I literally give the bike a complete overhaul and it's amazing how you can pre-empt some failures when you go over it with a fine toothcomb. I do have another emtb which I keep for "special" rides and having two seems to be the best way to look after both.

BBSHD stock firmware config... insane torque tearing thru drivetrains, requiring riding the brakes just to keep her on the trail. After some effort searching forums for relevant options, I downloaded and tweaked to firmware config to my preferences. Pretty involved, but so worth it.
Also, early out of the gate, I wasn't hitting the expected range... and called on my distributor shop. Against my better judgement, they said it was likely not reading cirrectly, and to keep riding.... a few times draining to zero, and she was never the same.

I took in my bike in for first service after one year of riding (May to October) with approx. 2000 km on the clock to the place I bought it from. 89 kilos, old guy (50 yrs old), still pretty downhilly now and then. Shockwise they did nothing but put some air back in. So there’s that.

the difference in weight between human beings can be as high as 50, 60 kg, or more. The 10kg extra weight on an ebike does not necessitate a specific tyre.

for myself i am guilty of not washing my e bike after a ride and is a bit caked in dirt, but the worst is i charge up the battery because i intend to ride the next day. but when the weather changes and i put off the riding then winter hits quicker then i anticipate and i end up storing my e bike battery fully charge, even though till next spring. i know you are not suppose to.

    • @contintail

As a cabinet maker we used to tape down the triggers on battery powered tools. They used to suggest running them down to zero. A battery drainer that can be set to drain to a certain percentage would be great. Make one now and you might make a lot of money off of it💰

Not much u can do if the battery is good quality Chuck a blanket over it

    • @ecosignals
      @ecosignals 4 месяца назад

      Keep looking for solutions.
If not riding all winter, consider having the battery removed or bringing the whole bike inside, depending on temperature where you live.
Some bikes allow batt removal, with a handful of allen bolts. Others require a service technician to pull the motor.
While I haven't done or looked into it, I would wonder if a heat tape or heated blanket could be a potential solution. That said, it might introduce other problems and hazards.

I destroyed 3 motors in Tongsheng mid drive kits using the open source firmware and following ill-advised setups that fry the motor.
Good kit with default volts/amps/watts. About 100$/motor and not to hard to replace but not worth the burnout risk for a marginal bit more performance imho.
I would not even consider modding my Trance E+

changing the pad are much cheaper than the disk ? Not always. My D03S are sold 24€ at my local vendor, whereas I can buy 180mm Shimano RT54 for 10€ online. The difference is you can plane the purchase of your disk there is never an emergency for this item.

    • @mattshepherd3412

As a rough guide I would recommend storing batteries above 0C and below 30C. For the purpose of Charging your battery 10C-30C. Before use above I recommend above 10C. In simple terms avoid extremes of high or low temperatures. In reality we will all go beyond these recommendations, they for guidance, to be avoided where ever possible. In engineering, recommendations are always quiet conservative, to cover the arse of whoever wrote those guidelines. They are all guiding towards a longer battery life and optimal performance, not life or death at all.
