I like the way they let Ron help with the Script.
Thank You. 🙏 Praying for you.
Good for the writers for listening to Ron. They weren't little kids anymore. 😂
Love those background pictures of the show! So cool!❤
Great video. Thank you. Glad they listened to Ron and let him change the line for the episode. Praying for you 🙏 Melanie
I love this story, thanks for the video Bob. God Bless.
Ron Howard was a good actor as a kid
He was one of the best child actors I've ever seen.
@@joeybonin7691Shirley Temple had the whole package. Acting, singing, dancing and a great humanitarian.
That was a tiny scene - but, a cute one. And, it was the only scene Opie was in for the entire episode.
Opie walks into the courthouse and says, "Hi Barney" as Barney is storming out in a snit with the broom in his hand.
Opie then says, "Paw, what's the matter with Barney?"
And, Andy says, "Aww, he's just a little excited. It's nothing."
Then, Opie says, "Sure seems like something. He's sweeping clear on down the street."
Then, Andy says, "Well, good. If he sweeps as far as the drug store, maybe he will get a bottle of pop and cool off."
Andy tickles Opie and says, "All ready for school, are you?" and Opie replies, "Yes" to which Andy says, "Do a good day's work and act like somebody." Opie replies, "Okay Paw" and walks out of the courthouse as Andy pats him on the back and says, "I'll see ya." Then, Opie says, "Bye!"
And, that's it. No way of knowing what the original lines for Opie might have been - but, the scene worked.
This might've been the first sign that Ron was headed for bigger things.
ron howard smart guy.
Good for Opie 😊
Some shows seem to be more tolerant to actors' suggestions. William Christopher almost blew his first audition for MASH by improvising dialogue. (One time he appeared on the Carol Burnett Show improvising a sketch.) Making changes in the writers' room might be preferred than changes on stage. Robert Reed strived for realism on his shows.
It's great that Ron's suggestion got taken seriously. After all, a real child should know more about how one really talks. We've heard stories about men writing for female characters. Shows with African American casts had mostly white writers. Ron definitely learned well over his long career.
I wonder how frequently adults questined THEIR lines
I wonder if it caused friction and /or delayed filming 😮
The Andy Griffith Show was definitely a collaborative effort. I imagine a lot of scenes were changed on the fly as they were filming and at the suggestion of the cast members. Ron Howard noticed as much, which was why he was so happy that they finally listened to one of his suggestions.
Hi Bob and everyone Great video Thank you for the video, God Bless Much Love Jean
❤❤
Hi Bob I’m hoping you might be able to answer a question about The Andy Griffith show from time to time I see Andy or someone else have a knife and it looks to me like they are shaving a piece of wood I was wondering what they are exactly doing if you could please help me out I would appreciate it thank you so much Bob and keep up the great work
❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Great video!
I'm going to pay close attention to that episode the next time I see it on TVLand.
👍
If that episode has Opie saying “He’s sweeping on down the street” upon entrance we may have a winner 🏆 🤞🏼
Great stuff Bob. Ronnie Howard was a smart fantastic boy and actor from the start. Age 6. It was humble of Andy to give him the freedom to change the line and to be a normal kid. He had the best role models.
That's good that ron Howard changed a line in an episode on the andy griffith show thanks to the writers for listening to him good video bob
