      @@0608310007 Some of their printers work better than others. If they would just stick with a few designs and keep making them more robust over time. I dare say they had a few rock solid ones in their past.
      I've got an OfficeJet 6500 that works great, BUT I ahve to manually drill ahole int eh in k cartridges and refill them myself. And it's got some stupid programming bugs that could just easily be eliminated.
      I wish I could still use some of their old Lasar printers I have... but what a mess with toner and they never had enough memory to handle more than one or two fonts. They hang on any image in a webpage.

      Don't buy HP Ink Tank Wireless 415, it's a pain in the arse when setting up (Bought two and both were disasters). And also, why do I need to log in to HP Smart when I just want a simple document scan especially it kept logging out.

    i have had hp printers always loved their abilitity and utility loved the blue tooth much easier to connect to cell phone still having major issues. Connections are invented by computer experts not for everyday people.
    And the automatic Ink and paper is just big brother having access to your machine

      How exactly does that work? The "automatic" ink and paper giving the government access to things?
      What exactly is automatic ink and paper and how does it give them access?
      Please bear in mind that I'm pretty much computer illiterate in the first place, and I came to this video because my wireless hp printer seems to be stuck in copy mode and won't listen to my laptop when I go to "print screen", everything appears OK on the laptop's end, I get the drop down where you set things like how many you want printed etc etc, but then when I click the print button at the bottom nothing happens for a minute or two then it acts like it's trying to scan something you'd set under the cover to copy it even though there's nothing there then it prints a blank sheet of paper, and the little screen on the printer always has the word copy highlighted on it, I've already tried this unplugging it thing several times, after plugging it back in it makes some noises then goes right back to having the word copy highlighted on the little screen, and the little wifi light is lit up, plus the computer seems to acknowledge that they're linked together but the printer just seems to keep ignoring it.
      At....my....limit, I'm about to do to that printer what they did to the one in Office Space.

      I forgot, whenever I turn it on it automatically prints an "alignment sheet" then wants you to put it on top to be scanned and I assume copied and printed, I believe it's further proof it's stuck in copy mode.

    This was a very easy to follow video. If it worked for my HP envy 6000 series, it would have been great, but sadly this didn’t work at all.

      I also have an HP Envy 6000 printer. It’s constantly goes offline, the only thing I was able to print in the past few months are the printer status. I have like 20 pages of those. This printer is the worst.

      ​@HPSupport And I have the exact same problem. I just went and bought a direct cable connector hope that works. Why have a wifi printer if you have to buy a cable after all. Shame HP EnVY

    I was recently given an HP envy 6055e. It has taken me two days of setting up accounts, plugging it in, unplugging it, hard resetting it, setting up apps on my phone, downloading programs to my computer, attempting to download the firmware... And it still doesn't print.
    I'm pretty sure Envy refers to everybody who has of these and really wishes they had any other brand.

      What a genius. If only HP support could give non-retarded instructions. They tell me to go into a menu and my brilliant HP printer has no menu. It barely has a fucking screen. I moved from one house to another and it's still waiting for my old wifi. I have no USB cable because HP didn't provide one, yet want you to have one for the setup. I'm so happy my eyes are bleeding.

    FYI this isn't a reset, this is turning off and on. You don't reset your password by closing your laptop and then opening it up again. Also, unplugging after turning off the switch makes absolutely no difference as the connection has already been severed. I'm here because my HP printer won't reconnect to the WIFI and I am unsurprised to find that HP is clueless about a lot of things.

      If prompted for a password, type 12345678. This is the default password to log in. If you created a custom password and do not remember it, go to your printer to get the password. Press the Wireless and Information buttons at the same time.

    Is this really the best you can come up with? I was printing my documents just fine when HP Smart suggested a firmware update. I should've waited until I finished all my printings, but no, made the biggest mistake of updating the firmware first. Now, the update doesn't progress, my printing is stuck, and then printer just won't start anymore. The power button blinks a few times and then the whole printer shuts down completely.

      I will do my best to assist you.
      Please try hard reset on your printer as mentioned here to fix the issue:
      1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
      2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
      3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
      4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
      5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
      6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
      NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
      7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
      8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
      The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
      9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed

      @@HPSupport I've tried with three different wall sockets, and I've waited for 6 hours. The printer literally hang! And everything that is in your instructions doesn't reset it.
      The power light blinks for 14 times and it automatically shuts down. The ink cartridge don't move at all!

    I have a HP Envy 5000. Everyday it keeps going offline when it still connected to wifi. I searched and follow all your instructions on your website. I keep reconnecting and adding the printer PIN to my window 10 laptop. This happens everyday. How do I stop this from happening completely ? I can’t not be doing this, I really need your help. Thank you.

    Well the reset did not help. I have an HP Photosmart D5360 and it refuses to print on CD's. It pulls it in, does its thing with the printer head moving back an forth as expected, and once finished, it spits out a blank CD. Just last week it was printing fine on CD's and I printed 14 of them. However, if I switch to paper printing, the image that I was trying to print on a CD, now prints perfectly on the paper. So in short, it prints on paper with no problems, but it does not print even a tiny drop of ink, on a CD. Removing all HP software/driver, and then loading the latest revisions, made no difference either. HELP !

      Good news. I fixed it. I did not have to change the ink cartridges either. What a hassle. Anyhow, at least I have the software up dated and that added a few bells and whistles such as popup windows that inform you of things such as "Cover Open" or "paper Jam", etc.

      -Are you trying to connect using the wireless network or connecting via HP Wi-Fi direct?

    Hi, I hope you can help me.
    I thought a printer reset would solve my problem but it just changed to a different problem.
    My HP Envy 4500 printer first started printing blank white pages despite cartridges being over half full. Then after a printer reset (removing power supply as HP guide) the printer printed a completely BLACK page. I then used Print and Scan doctor, cleaned ink jets, realigned printer and printed again. The tray contained a black page with horizontal shaded stripes. a perfectly printed alignment page and a white page with a narrow black horizontal at one end. I don't know what else to do.
    7 hours later.
    Another print just now and I'm back a square one. A blank white page followed by more blank pages. I tried another printer reset followed by a print job. The result is another blank page.
    I use Windows 10 OS and Firefox browser.

      @@HPSupport Thanks for replying.
      I removed the black cartridge, switched the printer off and on again then tried to print another page and the page went through the printer with no print noise and the result was a BLANK page. I have left the Black cartridge out and on it's end resting.
      The cartridge is a genuine HP cartridge and is recognised as such.

      I replaced the black cartridge , printed a printer status report and that printed OK both black text and the colour bands of the ink. I then printed a normal print page and that was just fine.
      Removing the cartridge worked as I didn't try anything else.

      If you have signed up for automatic delivery of cartridges, your printer won’t print until you order more. When our credit card we used for this expired, our printer stopped printing. Held hostage…

    I have a fantastic HP 1150 Laserjet that is stuck in error mode....this type of reset did not help it. Is there anything else I can do?

      +Steve Greenfield Resetting the printer can help restore a connection to the computer.
      If the printer is off, turn on the printer, and then check the status of the printer.
      If the printer starts printing jobs from the print queue, your printer is clearing out queued print jobs and is online. You can stop troubleshooting.
      If the printer goes to an idle state after its startup routine, it might be online.
      If the computer still shows the printer as offline, continue using these steps.
      With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
      Unplug the printer power cord from the wall outlet.
      Wait at least 60 seconds. Restart the computer while you are waiting.
      Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
      Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
      If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
      Make sure the printer is connected to the computer or the network.

    I have the hp deskjet 2050 and it always gets stuck with a document printing first couple of times this rest worked but every now and again I leave it for a few days and it won’t work I have a document stuck on “deleting” after I tried to cancel it from priming because it was taking way to long to come out

    I've reset it multiple times. It says connect printer to update HP instant ink status but it won't connect to the computer or internet. There is a solid blue light for the wifi signal.

    HP I have an Hp office jet pro 6970. I got a paper jam message and did not have any paper jam at all. I checked every path carefully and did the reset thing as you suggested. I still get a false paper jam message telling me to report error ox610004a to you. Also my carriage carrier is stuck on the right. It will not move manually and it will not move when the access door is closed. I looked to see if the gear that frequently broken and it appears ok. I am stumped on what to try next. Any suggestions? I am fairly capable of doing technical stuff. Thanks.

      I am here to help!
      It could be possible that the HP Smart application Country / Language is set to an RTL reading.
      That is, due to the country setting in the App, the format is tuned "Right-to-Left".
      HP Smart might be flipping the form and the content because it thinks it should do so.
      Regardless, you can select to Edit > Crop > and then mirror / flip the newly scanned document page.
      Doing so might actually format the "print without save" portion of the job so the content prints correctly.
      OR
      If the formatting is not due to the RTL language setting,
      1. It is possible / likely that the application would benefit from having the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed.
      2. Uninstalling the HP Smart app from Settings > Apps > Apps and Features > Restart computer > "Get" a fresh copy of the app from the Microsoft Store
      3. Possibly "Restarting" the printer

      1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
      2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
      3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
      4) Press the power button for 30 seconds.
      5) Wait for 60 seconds.
      6) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
      5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
      Note: To make sure the power source functions correctly, make sure the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet and not a power strip or surge suppressor.

    I reset my printer as shown and put new HP ink cartridges in and the orange solid light was still on and it would not print from my computer so then I disconnected it from the computer and manually printed a copy and that worked fine and the orange light went off. I then put the computer in airplane mode and then turned WiFi back on and reconnected the printer to the computer and now everything works fine! 😅 So sometimes the issue is with WiFi! Our power was off last night so that probably caused a problem

      Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
      The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
      Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

    On Officejet Pro 8600 go to front panel of printer, select Setup - Tools - Restore Factory Default. The method shown in this video does not work at all.

NOTE - - Even if you do not see the return key (as it often disappears and reappears) click on the location of where the return key should be 4 to 5 times until you reach the "Support" menu. Click on the words "Support Menu". Arrow down to the "Resets Menu". Click OK. Arrow down to the "Semi-Full Reset" option. Click OK. Your screen will go dark as the printer will start resetting itself. Eventually your printer will turn off. Turn it back on you will have to go through and set everything up like when you first took the printer out of the box.

      The "job" is coming from somewhere - the printer is following those instructions. When the printer is switched on, the printer accepts input and starts printing. This part is normal process.
      Consider removing most, or even all, paper from the tray.
      Track down the offending "job".
      If you do not recognize the content at all, the print job may be the result of someone else sending job(s) to your printer.
      The usual offending "suspects" include:
      Neighbors that have the wireless password to your network.
      Neighbors or strangers printing to your printer and there is no password required to access the network.
      A mobile device that is sending a job directly to the printer without interfacing with the computer. This could be one of "your" devices or any local mobile device that has access to your wireless network.
      An ePrint job - likely from someone who has figured out your printer's email address (and is not blocked from sending print jobs).
      Print-Spam, possibly from a Printing virus / malware as described in the recent news on the subject of people having printers "hacked". This access, too, is perhaps a result of lax security on your network.
      If you feel the print job is coming from one of you own devices, Restart everything, including any computers, phones, printers, or mobile devices, and your router.
      Log out, switch off every device on the network.
      Switch on the router, wait for it to completely boot > Switch on the computer and log in.
      Switch on the printer - add a bit of paper to the tray, not more than (about) five sheets.
      Check.
      Boot / Start devices (phones, mobile tablets) one at a time - check to see if the problem resurfaces after a particular device is booted.
      If your printer has its own email address, log into your HP Connected account, check your printer Settings > Verify that only "allowed" senders have access (as opposed to setting = "Anyone").

    My hp Deskjet 4535 all of a sudden decided it isn't printing certain colors. I've changed the cartridge, cleaned it, cleaned the cartridge(both levels), reset the printer, factory reset the printer and it's still only printing black, magenta and red. Saw people mentioning checking the print settings but I'm on a mac and all the instructions are for pc. Honestly don't know what to do anymore.

    What is the process to full hard reset for HP 8600? I'm now stuck in the endless loop of printer error or animation loop. I've only ever used HP cartridges so it's very frustrating that the printer fails when the ink is empty.

      @@HPSupport Thank you for responding. I tried the above steps about fifty times. I think waiting until one the HP cartridges ran out of ink before replacing it caused some sort of glitch. I also actually went way beyond the simple "fix" and did a semi-full reset. Unfortunately, I didn't remove the printer cartridge error codes prior to the reset. Judging from the number of RUclips videos and HP support inquiries, I was not alone in my search for answers. I finally gave up and utilized Epson's recycle program and traded-in my HP printer for an Epson EcoTank. I felt like the HP was a great printer, until it wasn't. The lack of transparency and solution for a known issue coupled with sky-high ink cartridge prices was off-putting enough to warrant switching printer brands after twenty years. So I suppose, I did find a solution...Epson :) And I got a $75 rebate/discount for a bricked HP printer that would have ended up in a landfill. Kudos to Epson!

    My HP Deskjet 3050 j610 used to connect to my old router wirelessly just fine, but my old router died. I got a new Nighthawk router and for some reason, it sees the printer in the network, but my password always is wrong? HOW? I've changed to pasword a hundred times, and it works perfectly for everything but the printer, why??
    I have the printer set up by USB, but really want it to be on the network.

      @@HPSupport As I've stated I've done EVERYTHINg. I know how to connect a printer. The problem seems to be the wireless communication, which gives me inconsistent errors, even though i change nothing but the wireless password (because the genius at HP decided a printer should have a secured passphrase that changes every time I try to find it.) One moment it says the printer is connected but can't work until it find a valid IP address, the next moment it says MAC address filtering is tuened on in the router, the next it says the password is wrong. thiis is ridiculous.
      AGAIN let me point out i had already installed it on my previous computer (yES the computer) using the router as the networking interface, so my other computers can see it on the network. it work flawlessly. the drivers install fine, it sees my router network, but cannot make the finishing connection from the router to the printer by giving me continuously different error messages, when NOTHING has changed in the way I install it as per HP install instructions

    Hello, I have a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw. When I power on the printer, the touch screen will not come on.
    I have tried unplugging, waiting 60 seconds, plugging back in, holding down the power button etc. The printer shows as offline even though all cables are plugged in and I can hear the printer is on, the touch screen does not follow.

      We need to know how to factory reset HP machines!!
      I could do it easily some years ago, but the method has changed recently for the officejet 8730 and now it's throwing random errors and rejecting cartridges that have proven themselves to work in this excact machine.
      the only explanation is a software update from HP being responsible.
      Tell me how to HARD RESET so i can use MY MACHINE the way i want to.
      I am not licensing the machine for a restricted purpose, I OWN IT, and I should be allowed to service it myself!

      Thanks for the reply.
      Note: This will literally restore all of the printer's settings, and you will need to do the "Out of the box" setup after the reset.
      Press Power button to turn the Printer On.
      Press BL, BL, BL, BL Buttons, in sequence. (BL stands for Bottom Left. Normally the button on the bottom left is the back arrow. And you need to do this while the front panel of the printer is on the Home screen)
      Touch Support Menu.
      Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
      Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
      Wait for unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
      Press Power button to turn the Printer On.

    Ever since I've subscribed to Instant Ink my printer is all of a sudden printing pages randomly when there is nothing in the Queue within the Settings > Printer. Genuinely can see me moving on from HP as this is probably one of the worst printers ive owned. HP Officejet 3835

    Please show how to check hp laser jet 1xxx series etc laser problem, as it seems designed to fail WAY to early - only 4000 pages done with Expected life lke 50 000. Checking bldc motor as it wont spin, capacitor seems ok (the one on pcb with lsaser motor), 24 v present , cant check PWM as simple mulitmeter with only F V DC etc features, maybe some ac/dc capacitors failed?

      @@HPSupport but it has only 4000 pages and probably some capacitor died - worse - it may be SMD so super small and needs hot air and lenses.. to change as too smalll.. where is ECO-responsibility of the corporations? :)

      @@HPSupport device was used like 3900 pages for the warranty period and then 200 pages for 5 y after warranty, Sales people in Support were unable to help - what I need is HINT where to dsearch for most probable failed capacitor - so I wont waste time rebuilding it from scratch - ? By phone I will never get this info. There must be typical path of failure knonw to Engineers of HP laserjet 1102 model. what is the happy path for this kind of motor bldc not spinning.

    i bought a Pro MFP M281 cdw HP Laserjet printer couple of years ago. Everything has been working perfectly fine until last week when I start getting "49 Service Error". I tried various things like shutting off and turning it on, trying to download firmware from my PC HP account to the printer. (My PC recognizes the printer though the printer is in error mode). And also trying to reset to factory mode by pressing the right bottom corner of the small screen in the printer when you turn it on. Nothing has worked yet. What do i do? Is there anyone who could help pl? Thanks in advance.

    This does not work. My printer is now a boat anchor because it won't boot up and I cannot reset it via some hardware switch. Curious if the last update that was installed on my printer caused this issue. Is there a way to boot up with a USB drive in the slot to cause a factory reset?

    My HP Envy 4520 has a blank (blueish) screen. The power button also doesn't seem to do anything and it can only be turned off and on from the socket. Whilst it is on, it says it is offline. Is there a fix for this at all please?

      Reset the product
      With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
      Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
      Wait at least 60 seconds.
      Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
      Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
      Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
      Also, try updating the printer's firmware: bit.ly/3dZIDeC

      From the screen on your printer, navigate to Setup.
      Tap Tools.
      Tap Restore Defaults.
      Tap Yes.
      The printer will restart.
      Once restarted, your printer will have been reset to factory default settings.

    Yeah, that didn't work on my HP 3510. I unplugged it yesterday at 3pm and was too busy until now, 9pm and I finally plugged it back in and it's still giving me Error Code 0X00759C98. If I power it off it just reloads to the same message. I think I need a new printer

      I'd request you to perform a reset on the printer. Kindly do the following:
      1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
      2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
      3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
      4) Press the power button for 30 seconds.
      5) Wait for 60 seconds.
      6) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
      5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
      Note: To make sure the power source functions correctly, make sure the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet and not a power strip or surge suppressor.
