Clare Abbey is located around 15 minutes from Shannon Airport and 10 minutes from Ennis town centre. The old abbey is also known as Clare abbey, it is in a ruined condition. This old Augustinian monastery is located near the Town area of Ennis County Clare, it sits along the banks of the Fergus River in Clare and its located around a mile north of ClareCastle in County Clare, Ireland. The Abbey was founded in way back 1189, was the largest and most important of the Augustinian monasteries in County Clare. The condition of the building nowadays isn't great but its still standing and the roof is gone completely, its still a cool piece of medieval Irish history!!!
