Great video. Totally agree with you that interest in the dial keeps you coming back. I find myself looking at my watches often throughout the day, but then I realize I don't even know what time it is because I was only admiring the details in the watch and not checking the time. Haha. I also strongly agree with you on the hype stuff. I don't understand why some people are willing to pay way over retail to get a watch immediately. Be patient. Prices will come down and these watches will be widely available.
Nice video. The new white Speedmaster looks very cool. But it doesn't give me any regrets in getting the latest version of the black dial Speedmaster a few years ago. The standard speedy moonwatch still has so much history attached to it.
145.012-67 and 145.022-69 Speedies here. I was born in that decade so 1960s it is. That white one is nicely done, I bet many will want it ! As for the MoonSwatch, it's something fun for teenagers or people in their twenties. My fun watch would be an Aqua Terra blue small seconds on rubber strap !
The white Speedmaster racing isn’t a moon watch, collectors of the moon watch and its predecessors are getting the new white dial speedy. I met another speedy collector when I picked mine up at a boutique. It’s not my first white dialed moon watch. Even for non collectors, the white dial is a nice addition for dressier situations. I’ll even wear a speedy with a tuxedo (even if purists say I shouldn’t).
Solid video. Definitely agree with you on waiting for the white dial Speedy hype to come down before buying one. I don’t own a Speedy, but I will be buying this one at some point. That white lacquer dial is very appealing.
Awesome video as always! The truth about the Speedmaster in my view is that it is simply not a flex. White, black, reduced, doesn’t matter. If it suits your wrist and looks good on you, then hey that’s awesome. But it’s not a flex and so many collectors these days want that flash in the end but won’t admit it.
Welcome to another episode of Wisdom by Harry. Totally agree with your stance here. I love my Speedy. I’ll likely look at a white dial once the hype dies down, but the classic remains the classic.
The white looks very pretty, but I think part of what made the moonwatch so popular is that it is super iconic while feeling like it hasn’t lost its tool heritage. Others icons like the submariner (or any modern Rolex) and the seamaster feel much more like jewelry. While I admit any 4+ figure mechanical watch really is just jewelry, the white dial seems to have more of a jewelry feel to it that the black dial doesn’t
I think the white will be the same as black. Already seeing many available online do it may be a few hundred more on c24 but will be able to pick them up for 5-6k. I think the red text, black indices, and the new bracelet and overall form factor is just perfect. I 100% have to own both but I am a sucker for the latest speedy and white dials (red text) . It’s pure magic.
For me personally? No. I don't like white on Speedmaster. Plus I love monochromatic watches and I prefer black with white hands. It is literally the same watch as my 3861, but in white I don't like, red elements that don't fit in the composition and applied indecies that ironically I am big fan of, but not on Speedmaster. The white dial fans however, will have a blast.
I’d really like to hear your thoughts after you’ve handled the white speedmaster. I don’t just think it’s the best speedmaster, I think, for the money, it might just be the best white dial watch on the market - period. And I say that as someone with a grey side of the moon.
I have 2 speedys, 1st one is the speedy triple calendar black dial, its also my 1st expensive purchase. Didnt know too much about watches back then (even now almost 30 years later i still dont as a matter of fact), bought that as it seems a very much of bargain as it packs so many functions, also fits my slander 6.75 - 7" wrist well. Then later in years to come found out oh, it was the professional that went to the moon, and so i bought my 2nd one being a panda version of the prof model, all because the sales said lets get the white dial as they arent many white dials for speedy 🤷🏻♂️ I think having both the white / silver (though panda) and black speedies, I prefer the black. Like you said the white is nice, yet it feels like the black one will always be the classics, with the original design cues that can stand the test of time.
We have very similar tastes Harrison lol. I also have the Jupiter Moonswatch and a 1863 sapphire sandwich moon watch. That Snowflake grand seiko spring drive has always been on my list...wow Great content man, keep it up.
I love the white. The black sapphire was on my list but now I’d consider the white. It’s the best white option and making it a non limited edition is great. The Swatch toys were always a mistake in my opinion.
@@Andrew-yy2ye thanks for the reply, talking about white dials does the explorer polar calls to much attention? I’m considering one as a travel / vacation watch
@@emmanuelrodriguez5044 I like the white dial on the explorer,it suits the watch and looks stylish,my advice for what it's worth is go for it ,those who own it have nothing but good things to say about it........ I'm waiting for a BB pro to arrive for a birthday and wish they would come out with a white dial for that , àll the best from the UK,👍
So you have 1 Speedmaster.and 1 replica homage thing. In regard to adding the white dial and other “upgrades” to the Speedmaster professional is no different than adding all the upgrades they added to the “classic” saphire version. Difference is with the white dial it just looks better, modern and amazing.
Good point about Mission to Moonphase being a good & terrible value at the same time. I’ll probably get one eventually, because I have a watch collecting illness.
I love the part about losing touch with $300-400 being a lot for a watch. I feel seen. 😂 Currently thinking about the gshock 40th anniversary model, the resin one with no extras and the gold coloured screen and buckle.
Loving the white - so want to pick one up when the hype is not at dumb levels Also want the mission to moonphase - but again at rrp not hype price Have owned a few speedies, including the black SS, but got bored - Want the White dial its sexy
Enter the rabbit hole.. 😂. Speedmasters have tons of color ways, dials, hands and movements. Buy what you love.. couldn't agree more. Still craving the rising sun 😂😂😂
The question is whether you want the Moon Watch or a Speedmaster. If you want the Moon Watch, black dial with hesalite is the only choice. If you just want a Speedmaster, go with your taste. Speedmaster is a great watch but if you want a gorgeous steel chronograph around 40mm there are a dozen compelling choices out there--IWC Portugieser, Tag Carrera, Breitling Navitimer, Tudor Black Bay... But there is only one Moon Watch, and it has a black dial and a hesalite crystal and a NASA-approval inscription. I ain't ditching mine anytime soon.
I’m not a big fan of the white one. “Theo’s” take over at Theo and harris has not aged well in the last week. I think he said there would be 2 years waitlist on the white one. Hilarious.
That's what I have, loves it. Yet deep down i still think the black one is the icon with all the nostalgia, I mean that's why we are all sold right? The story, history everything.
Very dull watch. In my opinion. I liked it for a day, and then it was like "meh"... prefer my old 1861... Speedies are not for me I realised, but even if I was to get one again, it would never be this...

Omega has released way too many variations of the moonwatch. White feels like another money grab. I definitely would go for black iconic moonwatch.
Nice Dobie.
Two camera angles? Super impressive. I think you forgot the intro. And I’d like to hear some music or sound effects. Great video.
Haha noted!
I disagree. Please no sound effects. And music at a minimum.

It's an Artem strap. A bit expensive, but they're sweet

is that a new braclet on the explorer 2?
Looks like a jubilee he swapped over to. Looks good
I feel the same way.
On the Snoopy lume is not as bright as regular black Moonwatch
Still thinking about selling your 16570?
the white plastic of the moonswatch will age fast and badly
It's a toy which looks like it came out of a cracker at Christmas 😂😂
I would have preferred a panda 🐼 with black subdials.
