That was awesome, I thought the fish tank was way bigger than it was and also way more expensive! Never get tired of watching your behind the scenes process, definitely makes me wanting to rig some stuff up myself!
Got to say that was a great watch… I’m a product innovation manager by work but a wildlife photographer by desire. Was looking into ideas for pond life photography and came a ríos your vid. Really enjoyed it from both aspects 👌
Hearing someone like Peter McKinnon say: "yes, going the extra mile sucks" was more inspiring than any other statement. DO THE LITTLE THINGS! The finished product will always be better.
I’d love to see a video about how you print your images from start to finish, how to get the best quality on a life size print. And maybe some cool things you can do with prints that maybe fall outside the box that is a standard print
High FPS if possible High shutter speed Small, closed, aperture for focus High ISO to counter high shutter/slow aperture Loved this video! Fly the flag.
Much easier with a strobe flash unit that has a super fast t.1 time (1/12,000+) and then you can use whatever Aperture you like at your native ISO to keep noise at a minimum. :)
@@mrresident you do not need a high strobe flash. a simple 1/180 flashgun will work.. and if i am honest you do not need to go that high even. 1/60 probably will be enough..
Giannis Tsoupakis I never said anybody needed anything. Just that what with the kind of equipment i pointed out would provide a photographer with the ability to do whatever they want with splash photography.
Pete you made me feel good about myself! I have three tripods in my office with each of my cameras mounted to them... I thought I was the only amature putting the tripod bag on the hook! Yes! I guess I'm not so new!!
@@lachlanbolton6902 I mean yeah it was cool and all, but to say the other guys work wasn't professional was a low blow, for the end result to honestly look a little grainy. If you pause the video, the picture peter took looks like it has noticable grain in .
@@wizcombo lol if I sound upset sorry your reading that way, I just am giving criticism because in all honesty it is all taste. A big fan of these videos, not only do you nail the genre but you encourage us to explore it too. I was a bartender for 10 years and want to move into cocktail and bar accessory photography and your passion is certainly going to help. Cheers Peter
Re: the bubbles on the fish tank glass Don’t use Windex / window cleaner. Use rubbing alcohol for streak-free clean. Window cleaner has a blue dye and isn’t great for removing grease, the dye pigments would also creature extra texture for me bubbles to stick to. For added smoothness, go to an auto store, get some Rain-X (water repellent glass treatment). The glass should be (as close to) invisible. Also thinking if using distilled water over regular tap would increase the clarity also... 🤔
I don’t even care to learn how to take these kinds of photos but i thoroughly enjoyed this process and loved this behind the scenes look- keep crushing it Pete!
Yes! Definitely liked this format, more videos like this please. As a newbie it was really great to see your thought process on settings, problem solving etc
Ohhhhhh Hell yes!! This was your best video/tutorial yet!! I Loved This One! I 'experiment' with this type of photography all the time. I'm so going to try this out.
Pete! I looove these videos where we get to see you pick a photo idea and run with it. The tutorials are great, but seeing your approach to actually executing is so interesting
Please don't ever stop making tutorials. I am happiest when your energy invigorates me to create. You are my breath of fresh air in this world of turmoil :)
That Intro & sound design! I could watch that all day. Wowwww 😳 I’ve been working so hard on my cinematic b-roll intros for my RUclips Channel and think I am killin it and then I watch one of Peters videos and I am instantly brought back to reality and realize I got a lot more work to do! 🤣 Thanks for the challenge Pete! It Just makes me want to work even harder! Keep killin it man. 👍🏼🎥🎬
Awesome video , so much to learn !! I already speak 3 languages and im learning arabic and portuguese , working hard to grow my travel channel !! Thank you for all your help 🙏🙏💪💪🔝🔝
AHA! I looooooooooooove you calling them out. And also fun to see where you got your inspiration from. Highly amusing, yet super informative. Great stuff!
I hoped someone else noticed this. He got aperture's effect completely backwards in his description, yeah? Wide aperture=shallow depth of field, blurry backdrop (eg f2.0), what you generally use for low light situations or portraits. Small aperture=everything is in focus, which is why landscape photographers like to shoot scenes at f11. He did get get the process right though, since you want to brightly light something when shooting with a tiny opening, so enough light gets in to the camera.
I kinda like that he didn't make a big deal out of his mistake, just added a small caption correcting it and posted the vid anyway. That takes courage - good for him!
Ocht we all make mistakes and this just makes Pete more human and relatable because he left it in. And I'm glad he did. You can be the most polished pristine RUclipsr but that's not reality, showing your mistakes means you can learn from them and encourages people to not be afraid to make mistakes themselves.
Loved this. I think this was one of your best videos Pete. Really shows some of the new possibilities for content that are coming out of having the new studio space. And showing both the photo taking process AND the post-production in the same video was really cool, because you got to see everything from A to Z.
Awesome Pete! Always entertaining, always educating, always creative, always fun! Would love to see a vid about constant lighting vs trigger and flash.
