What the idea bro for starting a business like chicken farm how many chicken I started?
You can't fail with that attitude ☺
Im also a medical doctor, in the process of starting my own poultry business
All I can say is blessings to the fruits of your hands.
This man will become successful💪👍
Because everything he do,he always put in God's guidance..am so inspired to you sir.God Bless you!

I"m so glad you are doing this experiment. I have a couple of suggestions. You might want to look into mealworms. Very high protein,, they just need bran to grow in, you can continually set up new cultures from your own mealworms, & the chickens love them fresh or dried. They can be kept in wooden boxes or plastic totes. It just depends on the cost of bran. The used bran can be turned into Compost. Earthworms are another idea, as they can be fed any vegetable scraps. Take a look at Swss Chard to go with the Kale. I always grow the rainbow type for diversity of nutrients. Also, greens can be harvested by only picking the outer leaves leaving the center leaves to keep growing. Spinach has a high percentage of oxalate which inhibits calcium absorption & can produce kidney stones. Good luck with this venture. Ps ten weeks is enough time to hatch and grow up your next layers, although I think you need 16-20 weeks for egg production.
Daniel. You will never fail because your hope is in the Lord. I really enjoy your blogs. Looking forward to seeing how your feed works.
Crazy, perhaps, Daniel. But your enthusiasm for what you are doing and your capacity to risk something better is inspirational. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us!
Who watched the videos only 50%(Ur videos are so good that we knew everything in nearly 5 minutes of a 10 minute video)🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Daniel, great presentation very lively. I love your passion. I am a poultry enthusiast too. I stumbled on your channel by mistake and I am loving it.
Brother I believe you will make it by the grace of God almighty☝️
I'm got spinach in my small farm, chickens in the village always come and eat it,so now am growing lots of it to feed chickens. You are blessed Daniel.you are successful, you have ideas and divine wisdom for your business. God bless.
I started my small poultry last year☺️ struggling a lil bit. Thanks for your insight am definitely trying it out
My hens love fresh spinach. Ill be watching this experiment! Feed is so expensive here in the Midwest, USA.
All along I was checking your accent and felt like it was Ugandan, and finally, you mentioned it in this Video! Good Work Man, Nice Channel, ndi big fan of your videos.
I am planning to do farming including poultry on our 21 aces family farm in Myanmar in 2 years. I have been searching and reading lots of information for success with less mortality rates. He has all information with effective and low costs investment. I can see he has well prepared all of his presentations with evidences. Well respect !
How is it did u succeed
Azolla, moringa, spirulina, mulberry. These are fast growing and high in nutrients.
That’s amazing work my bro👍 I love to see how you do poultry and you inspire me to make my own farm and my RUclips channel 💯it’s just amazing!! My RUclips channel is Tropical Farming I hope uh have the time out to check it out..ruclips.net/video/zETfnpmVEyw/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/zETfnpmVEyw/видео.html
Hi Ricky, please share how to use the Azolla, moringa, spirulina and mulberry. Thanks
@@ghangssikute3379 All kinds of youtube videos on these subjects. No need for me to make another.
I love moringa idea too
Just an idea... use a chcicken tractor to till and prepare the soil before you plant. they will loosen the soil and their poo will be fertiliser :-)
I get Black Soldier Flies by not even trying. I compost ALL (Including meats) of my food scraps in a plastic tote with the lid partially open. They just magically appear in there with the composting worms. I live in a hot and humid sub tropical area of the United States. I hope this helps you. Thanks for sharing.
Oh nice. Sure helps
I'm worried about composting my meat scraps because I live in a rural area where there are raccoons, coyotes and the occasional black bear. I don't want them to think that there's free food here for them.
Do you have this problem where you are? If so, what precautions do you take? Thanks 💖 😊
Fermented grains, not sprouted saves you up to 2rds of food cost as fermenting makes more nutrients available for the chickens so they only need a third, that's a huge saving. While you wait for your fly breeding which is a great idea you can still put a bucket with a hole to let fly larvae fall into the Coup by keeping a lid on the buchet with some rotting food.
Awesome. Will try that too
1KG Chicken Feed = (Azolla + Grated Coconut + Water Spinach) 800g + 200g of Quality Feeds. Morning & Afternoon. Happy Chickens. 😁😁😁.
I think you need to buy barley seeds which is expensive in the long run. Better just plant common vegetables in your area :D
For Snacks you can feed some Black Soldier Fly Larvae / Meal Worms :)
Great
Let some barley grow to maturity and replant the seeds.
I cant wait to see how the production turns out..following this experiment closely
I’m inspired of the way you talk about your faith in everything you do. Stay blessed Dr Daniel
Thank you
They like corn on the cob of course but they really really like cauliflower and broccoli I smash the stumps so they can eat it and I chop up the harder pieces small edible bites I cut tall grass and then chop it up in one half inch long pieces They like yellow summer squash. Thanks for your video I liked your other one too
Grow some moringa trees and feed leaves to the chickens too. BSF is a winner. I pray that you will be successful in this venture. We are right behind you.
Great idea
Please you mentioned BSF what is the meaning thanks
@@carolinenwokeiwu7423 It's Black Soldier Fly.
Just what I'm thinking. Moringa is a very nutrient dense feed. But will the chickens eat it?
@@addys5766 They will. You can make powder out of dry leaves them mix with feed as an alternative but they should be able to eat fresh as well.
Good idea I am growing greens too, If I can't eat all, I have to share with my chickens.
I am a student at UCU MBALE and i have started with 10 birds
GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER . MAY THE LORD JESUS BE WITH YOU ON THIS JOURNEY .WELL DONE ON ACKNOWLEDGING THE BLESSED WORD.
You are such an energetic positive person. I have five chickens in my back yard but you inspire me. and YES people like you can never fail! Best wishes and good luck. Love you man!
In Kenya we call it faith the things hope for you call them as they are there
I'm not sure how you are going about farming your black soldier fly larva but i have a pretty good way for a dozen hens. I have a bin that all my poo goes. The rabbits and the hens( that i can get from the bottom of their coop). The soldier flies do the rest. Put a piece of metal into the poo bins and funnel it to fall into your bucket. You have a bucket of soldier fly larva. Or do as i do and let them drop into the chicken pen. Insta feed =happy chickens
Have you thought about growing red wiggler worms? They also can be fed chicken manure and compostables from your house and can be kept in 5-gallon buckets. They are also nutrient-dense and 1 worm produced 9 baby worms per week. Also, thank you for your videos they are amazing and push me to want to start broiler farming!
Have you considered contacting local restaurants to collect their food scraps? Chickens are incredible at turning what we consider garbage into food. God bless you, your channel, and your passion
Will that make the layers lay eggs.
Daniel you are such an encouraging man to us God can't let you down
And I have this question to you my inspiration I have started to keep hybrid layers now what's the ration in mixing concrete feed and maize bran and sunflower cake can this really work
I heard and experienced that the best place or way to breed black soldier fly larvae is using pig dung that is exposed to the flies by leaving them out in the open for about 8 hours or so. I did harvest them for my chicken which ate them live. What I wasn’t sure of is when is the best time to harvest them
I am raising BSF for my chickens and it is very rewarding. I have reduced my waist by 50-75% every month just by feeding them. I have also increased egg production by using them as feed. It's a great idea to add them into the feeding program along with fodder, sprouts, and leafy greens. Excellent video. Thank you!
Thank you. 💪🏼 shine on
WHAT IS BSF
Do u mean hydroponic fodder?
BSF = black soldier flies.
Yes, hydroponic fodder.
@@tarawiselove but my chickens aren't eating it how did u make ur chickens eat. Can u please let me know
THANKS TO YOU.KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK,FROM PHILIPPINES.
Woowww I'm so inspired to learn poultry farm from RUclips channel❣️❣️❣️thankyou Doctor Daniel
It is true, isa brown are very good layers and they produce heavily.
Great video.. FAILING IS NOT AN OPTION
hi Mr Daniel its nice to see you and of course hear all you coment about poultry , i am living in Venezuela and i will appreciate any thing you can tell me , up to now i have 30 layers and am just proving other way to breed them
I’ve watched 2 of your videos and I’m hooked! You will be successful. Be generous and God will continue to bless you! From Nova Scotia Canada
Thank you😍
Wowww how energetic and positive mind. Love it
I know a guy who has a very large compost pile and he has 800 chickens that eat off the compost pile. It might be another idea to add in because once the chickens finish the compost pile you can use it to grow the veggies for them.
Oh yes, it's something I'm looking into
Am sorry i don't understand this please. Do u mean the chicken feed on the compost pile. How come can it be used to grow veggies after the chicken has finished eating it. Am just lost here, please help me out. Thank you
The soldier flies are a great idea. You could also raise meal worms, too. They’re very easy to “farm” and chickens absolutely LOVE them!
It sounds like you're on the right track with your experiment. Black Soldier Fly larva is a great choice. I haven't tried farming those yet, so I look forward to seeing how you do with it.
Remember, that while wild chickens don't adhere to specific nutrient percentages, they also only lay about 20 or so eggs a year. Daily laying requires much more and consistent nutrition. These layer breeds were also created to thrive efficiently on commercial feed, so how they metabolize homegrown food may vary even if the nutritional content is the same and non-soluble grit will be required to access the nutrients in the whole foods.
Another tip I thought of was spices. I'm not sure what spices are readily available or economical for you, but I will tell you what I use. Every few days I offer a drinker with what I call 'chicken tea' of a standard Italian spice blend, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. There would always be a glut of eggs laid after the tea was offered. The peppers really seem to get their layers going and the rest are mostly medicinal. Chickens are not sensitive to the 'heat' from peppers.
I saw this video and thought it may help inform your experiment, even though it's broilers: ruclips.net/video/WOosTnvQMRE/видео.html
(Relevant part starts at 4:00.)
I really enjoy your videos and personality. Thank you for sharing with us!
Oh wow
Thanks Laura. I'm taking all this into consideration. You have been very helpful with this. I'll keep this fir future reference. Regards
@@FarmUp You are very welcome!
Laura, very awesome info . I do alittle cayenne pepper too . I’ll try the cinnamon also . Where’s your farm located?
@@Ceodayone Great! Farm is in Texas, but I'm in South Carolina right now so I'm enjoying everybody's RUclips farms. :). I've raised chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, guineas, and doves from the bird category.
For those making their own feed, a couple of other things I thought of are fats/oils which are not only important as a nutrient, but also in the utilization of other nutrients and yeast as a low cost supplement. Depending on what else was going on, I sometimes add a pour of olive oil to the chicken tea. Seeds are an excellent source of oils as they contain a tiny oil reserve in each. Yeast (the same kind used in bread) is full of B vitamins and is usually available at low cost. I've even used it to cure curled toes in hatchlings.
I also have a lot of experience incubating. What an adventure!
I'll leave with a bonus pro tip and that's Zeolite. I consider it indispensable in the keeping of farm animals. Even the worst of smells or ammonia accumulations can be neutralized with a handful of Zeolite. The beauty is that any nutrients that are absorbed will be slow released back into the system. It is used in everything from sewage spills to the clean up of nuclear disasters.
Laura Ciobanu oh so cool. I’m in New York. I raise broilers
Collards are high in calcium. You will need to add additional calcium to the soil. In the usa, I add gypsum.
In the Arizona desert acidity is what needs to be increase. Caliche has a lot of calcium.
For you’re kale and spinach you can set up aquaponic system youse rafts of water and you can continually grow
I suggest you plant flowers. Some are great animal, bsf feed, and a product to sell at market that attract people to your market stand/stall. Marigold flowers make the yolk more yellow.
this man is true to himself thanks for sharing
you can't fail bro. Anticipating the results of this
Smart man. Exactly right. Theres more to making max profit than max eggs. Its controlling the costs going in.
I am watching for your progress. This same problem and the need for alternatives is true for many. Thank you for your work. This is how progress and discovery happens. Soldier Flys are a good option in many places, but will not grow all year where I live. It freezes in the winter. God bless your efforts!
Hi my friend did you check a plant called Madre de agua, and Napier. Tried them that will also cut your feed costs.
Max
HEY DOC crazy times mean crazy ways of doing things! who knows maybe you are on to something GREAT! what did our ancestors do before there where `commercial` feeds? YOU are on the right path your chickens will love you, they eat almost anything i have found, dont foreget to let graze on grass if you can, my birds eat all kinds of insects while scratching around . GREAT VIDEO!!!
I get big production from kale and not so much from spinach. They are both fall crops in Georgia. Black soldier flies should do well converting all compostable material into chicken food.
I hope you are going to start your kales and spinach in a nursery. Direct seeding will bring grieve to you later as the vegetables will easily be up rooted when you try harvesting the leaves due to shallow roots.
I planted them direct. Hope it won't be so terrible
I like your positivity. You should also include maggots which should be easier to produce as compared to BSF(black soldier fly)..There is also a plant called sesbania which is supposed to be good for chicken.
Sesbania isn't recommended for chickens - controversial so not worth trying when there is so many excellent choices. Pigeon pea - another slightly controversial option - but it's fast growing so I took the chance and planted it primarily for shade. Chickens love to eat the young leaves and take shade beneath it, but don't seem overly keen to devour the seeds (awesome, I get to harvest the seeds for our own consumption)
Amaranth is easy to grow and liked by chickens - mine don't like the wild Amaranth but love red Amaranth.
Look for perennial spinach varieties.
Also try fast growing Bok Choy - my chickens go crazy over this. And they go to seed easily which makes it easy to keep producing. Kang Kong does really well but it needs plenty water to thrive. As mentioned already - azzola and duckweed are ridiculously easy to grow - once the chickens got used to it they go mental for it.
BSF - I really need to get this set up, silly not to take advantage of this free and continuous supply of food.
@@kellymorgan4783 ,do you think chickens would eat grinded dry pigeon pea leaves?
Hi doc. Good job. Try growing housefly larvae. Simply easy to do with poultry litters.
Broh...I had been off for a while...its great to watch your videos again.
I am a chicken fancier, for me it is a hobby, my chickens are more pet then a farm animal. I’ve always had less than 20 Chutters including pullets & Cockerel.
In the past, I had a large Garden, It fed both myself and chickens. My chickens also turned my garden. They fertilized it and removed grubs and bugs. The eggs, I fed myself and my family. I Chickens also received and still receive kitchen scraps and leftovers. Nothing goes to waste. My compost pile is an important source of food for a Chickens.
Are used to raise my own larva, I have noticed the sharp increase in feed costs. Due to not having a Garden. The quality of my eggs are not as high either. The yolks ones were dark orange, there still better than production chicken eggs.
Are used to ferment chicken feed which They eat less and get more out of.
Open your fresh turned soil to your chickens, they will do the rest and fertilize it as well.
Awesome
@Bonitta, how do you raise larvae? Kindly share with me on josephatkbt@gmail.com. I am really having an headache on how to go with larvae
Keep up the good experiments 🇨🇦
For exotic birds, the ones purely for laying like commercially. I don't think it'll be possible, but for the improved kienyeji, the improved local one,you won't fail on that.
Well, let's see
Thanks Doc,I started my poultry chicken this year doc thanks.
You shoold look up "no dig market garden". Tis wil help you a lot! You might even hevr to mush feed than en you can sell the exses.
@Dr Daniel, it would be awesome if you gave us an update on your barley sprouts experiment and feeding on your poultry folk at your new farm.
Thanks for telling the layers name😊 we have an big farm and 50 layers the only lay 2 eggs per 3 days so I will try to buy that breed also we have ducks which go in the farm wildly eat some thing and they lay 1 egg per day.
I think you will do great. I only have five chickens, and they love barley fodder. Just make sure it doesn't get too long or it can impact their crop, always have grit on hand. I also noticed one of my hens loves her black soldier flies, and will only eat that, leading her to consume less of her feed which has calcium. So I now recycle their eggs shells by giving it back to them to eat, and she's been doing much better. Also look into meal worms. And for the US, it is called kale as well, which I started feeling to my chickens. They are picky eaters, but they will eat it. I have not tried spinach yet.
I also grew barley this year, it took about three months for the seeds to fully mature and I'll be harvesting the small crop soon. I only planted about a square meter to test it out, but it grew fast, and I didn't have issues with pests. Good luck, I look forward to your updates!
Thank you. This encourages me a lot. I'll do it all.
Am nick from Kenya I av 30 chicken among them are 3 cocks now I bought like 2weeks went some were laying egg bt now olny 3 are laying egg the rest no ..what might be the case and they never got short of food plz advise.. thank you

you should try growing callaloo (amaranth) as well, it's delish and very nutritious
You could start a worm farm. They are simple and if done right they breed very quickly. Look up worm farming. Great video.
I've sure done that. Thanks

Thank buddy for dat great educative work you do to us.
Am really inspired and am strongly planning to start poultry farming next year if all goes well.

Hello Farm up team thanks for your information
I have Two questions
1) Does chicken house have to be cleaned regularly??
2) Is fermented feed and germinated feed recommended for grower, layer chickens?? if yes, which part/ingredients fermented which part/ingredients do not fermented?
Yeah. That’s what I would suggest. BSF will give you lots of protein. Nice👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Following this! Interested in your results, as you mentioned with some research on the proper nutrients ration, you can’t go wrong, also cuts your feeding expense massively. BSF is the way bro on protein!!! I can send some information your way on BSF.
Wow. Beautiful. Please do.
Farmupafrica@gmail.com
Also share same information with me Mr. T Smart on josephatkbt@gmail.com I would like to raise BSF for my birds
I like your spirit.
THANK YOU DR DANIEL. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO WITH US...... GOD BLESS YOU SIR....
You should research about madre de agua and mulberry. I am from a tropical country and i think they will grow well in Africa too. Chickens love them esp madre de agua, i just found mda today and i am very happy, it’s not easy to find it in my area but easy to grow they say. I just planted 7 cuttings this afternoon into temporary plastic container and am very excited.
I’m also cultivating/practicing black soldier fly since about 3 mons ago. My chickens will just arrive, i am just doing their foods in advance. I attract bsf through my compost bins - piles of kitchen scraps and fruits esp strong smelling fruits like mango and papaya (your piles have to be aerobic though), pregnant bsf are very attracted to that as experience told me. They dont like foul smelling (inaerobic) bins, take note.
There are actually lots of greens chickens could eat including weeds! I learned from different vlogs and groups. How awesome is that. 😊
Thank you. I'll implement that
Dr Daniel you are great man, i am a dr too, i love Agriculture, mainly farming too. Big up bro
Amaranth as the same nutritional value as spinach and should grow better in your climate, also you can let some go to seed, you can then sprout the seeds and feed to the chicken also. Check out Dr. Emma Naluyima she did a TEDx Talk on RUclips, hopefully she can mentor you.
Best of luck
I like the idea ....a tried Azola,Hudroponic fodder and BSF magots as well for my few Kuroiler chicks...I wan wondering how they would perform when used to Layer chicken.
I also have kuroilers and similar experience.
Do you compost your chicken manure? It would be a good fertiliser for your crops after maturing for 1 year.
Cross your red birds with a good local breed, high egg yield with lower feed maintenance and great resilience to disease.
Thanks for everything
Hey Daniel really you inspires me man be blessed
