As a kid, I used to bet with a friend who's picked song was going to be higher on MTV. I remember preferring Kanye West's "Stronger" over my friend's Linking Park's "Bleed it Out" pick only because of Daft Punk's sampling. Of course, I wasn't that aware of the musical landscape as a kid to know of Daft Punk. As such, Kanye West just became a pseudo-recommendation list of his sampled music for me. I remember when that song came out and I had the opposite reaction where I didn’t like the song so much because I loved Daft Punk too much. I like Kanye but I’m sure I would have liked been softer on it if I didn’t have such a close love for discovery. Also your welcome voice in my head.
