Interesting how Sweet progressed within about 18 months after 'Blockbuster'...'The Six Teens' is such a great arrangement and it's almost prog rock in its scope and ambition. Sweet must be one of the most misunderstood and under-appreciated bands of their era.
Just love these song of the month videos. Brian seemed as though he could sing anything that was given to him and make a great job of it too. Thanks Andy for doing these
I've been a Sweet fan since 1975. Some girl had brought the ballroom blitz 45 to school and I fell in love instantly. Not a week goes by where I dont listen to either a Beatles or a Sweet song. You guys will always be my idols. Thanks for this Song of the Month. Enjoying it tremendously.
edwin johnson I heard it in 1977. I was 11 and had spent the night with my friend and her older sister was playing the 45 of Ballroom blitz and I asked who it was and she said The Sweet. I liked it and she had an extra 45 of it and gave it to me. I was hooked!
that end part where they all sing the harmonies 2x gives me chills especially that live version. Amazing talent these guys had. There will never be another band like SWEET
And the first one I bought in 1974... On B-side "Burn on the flame". I was 10 and just went "Bhoaaaa!!!!" ✌️😎 I liked all on it but special noticed Micks excellent drumming and Andy's great guitar playing. I still think so. Not to forget Steve's bass and Brian's great voice.
Man! Those backing vocals on that end live clip are just incredible! That's what's missing from a lot of music today - the ability to actually sing (and sing well live and not just rely on studio gimmicks and technology).
This is an intriguing man and expert in his knowledge base. I guess I have to respect his dismay at BC getting loaded before shows and not taking their careers/lives seriously, I mean this guy cared.
Funny he said this is the best song Chapman ever wrote because I've always thought the same for the writing, AND the performance of Sweet on this song. Awesome and to me, their best.
You are right, Andy. the best song you all were a part of, I think. I truly think this was where your harmonies started, and turned it up a notch.... for us in Canada anyways, because this sounded so classical, and wow, when i was a kid truely loved it, and still do.... April Wine continued what u started here in the great white North....Cheers Bro!
I had this one at the time when I was six years old- great record, I still love it and all of the Sweet’s other hits, for that matter. Check out the non-album B-side “Burn on the Flame”, it’s great!
What I loved most about this song: the lyrically ambiguous gender of Bobby and Billy. Were they of different genders? Were they both men, or both women? 1968 was the year before the Stonewall riots. An absolutely fantastic track.
Congratulations my now deceased wife was Lauren fox she grew up with Brian in West Drayton she was the fox on the run Congratulations and cheers mate GODS BLESSINGS to you and your family pray give never take love love love kaboom
They would have been alot bigger all round had they had the exposure bands get today, were alaways one of my fav bands of the 70s a toss up between them and slade
Because Mike was the mastermind of the duo and wrote about 90 % of everything on his own. Nicky Chinn was actually more a producer but not much a musician as Mike - Listen to the mockery of how Steve Priest talks about this in various interviews and you would get a better impression. :)

The Six Teens is my absolute Favorite Song from Sweet.

My God how many GREAT songs this band had! They should have been massive stars.

Definitely one of Sweet's finest moments ...and BC's favourite ,to the best of my knowledge .
I agree with you Andy this IS the best song mike chapman ever wrote for sweet.
Possibly the best Sweet single.
Certainly the best Chinn and Chapman song

Gracias, Andy, por este hermoso legado musical.

Sweet Forever!!! THE Six Teens mit einer meiner Lieblings Songs !! Beste Rockband!! R.I.P Brian Mick und Steve 😥
Oddly enough when I first heard this song I wasn't crazy about it, but now I really like it. Thanks Andy, and keep em coming!
Brilliant song. Nice to see some footage of The Sweet performing it live.
Love these Andy thanks for the history and incite ❤️❤️🌹🌹
Andy is simply the best.

I`m sorry, but that performance in the end was not live. It was pre-recorded. Not only obvious but confirmed on many levels.
Oh this is such a wonderful song ! Incredible ❤
Love the sweet glad to be a part of this sight
this series is GREAT!!!

Possibly the best track they ever did, and they did some good tracks. This one just has something about it that sticks in the mind forever.
hi Andy,
i also would ask you to say and show something about "burning". It's a great song!!
Andy I wish I could've met you forty years ago I just love sweet and your guitar playing
This is a favourite of mine!
Love you Andy
Love the guitar on this xx
First had this on a ''top of the pops'' budget Lp.Brilliant song.Thanks.

The best song written by Chin-Chapman ? Possibly the best song to have ever been written .
Gracias por esta canción tan bella!!!
Brian's favorite song 💕
SWEEEEEET
Awesome 🥁🎸🎤👊
Love your videos.
Great Sweet !

loving Mick's gimp suit ;)
Das war Brians Lieblingslied, my Angel, love forever❤❤💋💋💋

This song is amazing. I can't find the source of the last footage shown, anyone knows?
It was on RUclips for quite a while and is a semi live recording with live vocals but pre recorded instruments. Cheers.
Fudging beautiful
The guitars actually sound more Spanish / Andalusian than "west coast".
my song Suzie and Davey was inspired by this great Sweet song..check it out. thanks Andy... New Wave Dave
great song would have been bigger in the uk top of the pops was on strike at that time cracking tune.
They would have been alot bigger all round had they had the exposure bands get today, were alaways one of my fav bands of the 70s a toss up between them and slade
Da müssen sich die andere Musiker weit hinten anstellen #Made my day SWEET #
His hairstyle is better Here😊
Why is the guitar so quiet?. I can see a cable going into the guitar. Andy, one of the best ever and the guitar is turned down.....
never get fed up of this track
Should have been a bigger hit. Did`nt get a lot of airplay out here in Australia in the shadow of Fox on the Run. Better song I think.
I thought the song was written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, why did he only mention Mike Chapman as the writer?
Because Mike was the mastermind of the duo and wrote about 90 % of everything on his own. Nicky Chinn was actually more a producer but not much a musician as Mike - Listen to the mockery of how Steve Priest talks about this in various interviews and you would get a better impression. :)
Richard Albert Henderson They fell out. But contractual Chinns name had to be credited
WHEN you Dont write your Own Songs , hmmm pretty much ya fucked . Brian got sacked, what were they thinking
But teenage rampage was also good like the six teens, love both of them❤❤❤❤❤💯💥💥💥
СУПЕР.
Sweet, my love❤️
