How to paint MAGIC LIGHTNING and ELECTRICITY - Art tutorial

Painting magic lightning is an illustrator's delight! Artists who make fantasy or sci-fi will want to learn how to paint electrical currents for one reason or another, so we'll be focusing from the fantasy artist's perspective and OF COURSE we'll be painting this lightning stylized!
Painting lightning, magical or otherwise, is a practice of learning it's behavior as well as how to play with both the light and color of the energy.

Feels like its been a while. Good to see new stuff.
Fun tip that I don't know if you've covered before: Holding the ` (tilde) key makes whatever brush you are using into an eraser, same size, properties, etc. Way easier than hitting E, realizing you had the wrong brush, picking a NEW brush, re-sizing... 😉

You've never flicked paint on canvas to make snow? Making jerky hand motions in a direction establishes a bit of randomness in your line. It's part of the technique.
