Hi Eric, I will come to Maui for one week in July. Coming from Germany. Was there 5 times since 2018 with my baby son. He learned to surf last summer just 2 weeks before the fire. He watched the whales there and Lahaina was our place to go. I can’t stop crying watching your videos. I will be crying a lot when coming and want to walk through Lahaina if that is possible, I want to never forget nor my son should ever forget Lahaina the old days nor the present.
I heard that Olowalu is polluted now? Is it safe to swim around Olowalu and is Lahaina Baby beach accessible? Anyway Kanaapali is our place to go as well. Wish you and all Hawaians Gods comfort🙏💝 All suffering will have an end one day, when Jesus is coming.
Just finished a wonderful 1 month vacation in West Maui. We love West Maui. The main difference we noted was fewer guests on the beach and no evening strolls in Lahaina town. This time we walked the whalers board walk, went for sunset sail and saw the last whale mom and baby this season. Maui is still the best. West Maui❤
you do know... the ocean has extremely high levels of arsenic...and neurotoxins...that's the main reason , for those that know.
Wow Eric, Mahalo for the blast from the past.! My old stomping ground’s! My husband and I opened the Hyatt Maui in 1979. Baker and Sous Chef. Those were the good ol daze. Paddled canoe with Napili Canoe club. Now he has dementia and not supposed to fly. I really want to visit! I agree about the elites! They’re trying to take over here on Kauai too. Just spent 10 days in Kaanapali. Absolutely loved the beaches, sunsets and the Aloha spirit. So sad to see the damage the fires left behind. I loved Lahaina. Lahaina Strong ❤

Since the late 70s my family and I would vacation in Maui every winter. I had to stop going because my high school wouldn't allow me to take time off for 10 day vacation. Finally was able to go back in 2012 to get married on a beach. And every other year we would join my parents who are snowbirds from Minnesota in Kihei for 2 weeks. Haven't been able to go for the past 5 years because of family obligations keeping us in Minnesota. Hopefully we'll be able to come back tp our ohana in maui in the comming years. Needless to say the VERY intentional fire in Lahaina tore my heart out. It felt personal. It's a shame that my dad's wife to this day thinks it was a natural event. 😞 I love the work you did with the homeless encampment and after the fire to try and help Lahaina. Sadly like they say, no good deed goes unpunished. When my wife and I are able to return to Maui we would love to meet you Eric. My wife and I are fans of your work and look forward to your Maui fixes. Our dream is to be able to retire in Maui and at one time that seemed possible but not anymore with this hyperinflation that a certain president got us into. 😢 It's even becoming a struggle to afford life in Minnesota. Much aloha from the land of the mosquito. 😊

Was just there in April and stayed at Kanapali beach resort and leaving August 31st and trying The Whaler this time. But we love and usually stay at The Royal Lahaina ❤

That was great. Thank you!! Last time I took that stroll was maybe 1987..? Spent a lot of time down there in the 80's as a little houle boy growing up in Kihei. Looks a little different, but much the same and so beautifully familiar! And busy!! I fondly remember a restaurant called the Crab Catcher that had a pool, right where I think you said Beach Girl was. Many great books found in the Whaler's Village bookstore probably shaped my being. Great flashbacks for me. Must come (re)visit soon! MAHALO!

We usually stay at the Westin next to Whalers village so Hula grill and Leilani's is our favorites as well. Great video. We actually delayed our plans this year due to the fire but are rethinking it. Was there a few weeks ago, stayed at the Outrigger (formerly Kaanapli beach hotel) It was great to be back over there on that side. Really crazy to see the things that burned and the things that didn't. Noticed the encampments along the parks over there and a few on the beach, very sad to see.
I have stayed at the Alii since 1986 as a young bride, and visited every 2-4 years until the fire, when I had to cancel the reservation because I was supposed to arrive 10 after the massive devastation when everyone was in shock. I want to cry hearing that the government has refused not only to let them rebuild the side walk but commanding removal of the ocean front buildings - (all private residences) !!
The beautiful Kaanapali Alii will be destroyed financially at that point.

You should drive down to Kihei and do some lives from there. I wonder are you familiar with Maui Hill in South Kihei? Stop in and say aloha to Dennis the manager of Maui Hill. He has been managing the property since it was built with help from my father who did the legal work. Dennis is like ohana to us.
I’m going to change my plans to go sooner! Coming July 7th to spend some nice time in Maui ❤.

I decided not to plan a trip after seeing in the news how much locals are struggling with housing shortages turned into vacation rentals. Terrible. I would feel awful staying in a vacation rental here

Love Maui Brewing Co, wondering if their original location in Kahana is still in operation? Maui's gov't is Maui own worst enemy. Currently dealing with big repair project and the bureaucratic road blocks and red-tape is daunting.
Eric, I have followed you from the first day that you got news out about Lahaina. In the beginning you had different people come and speak I think that you’re home and they were just short clips about what they knew or saw. You had one lady on there who was extremely upset and she was saying it was the minions that work for the Tilian’s. Do you remember that clip? I’m learning more and more about intergalactic beings and the rep Tilian‘s have been on earth since time untold. If you could find that lady and interview her again. She may have some real big answers about who is behind the destruction of Lahaina love and respect Judy bear from Washington State.
Why doesn’t Fish have a Disaster Case Manager to advocate for him? All survivors are assigned a case manager. Even the homeless from Lahaina have a program to help find them housing.
