@@IndyGST4 Purdue made its share of mistakes, especially the last few minutes, but one sided officiating at the level seen in this game is almost insurmountable.
The consensus is that this was a horribly officiated game. I can't believe the amount of contact the refs allowed in this game without fouls called. So many instances where there were fouls and no calls against Northwestern. Also, the shot clock call was awful as well. Should have been Purdue ball with like 6 to 8 seconds on the shot clock.
I really love listening to Matt Painter. I always feel better after listening to him whether we win or lose. He is pretty straight forward and I commented on this on FB post that regardless of the bad refs, we HAVE to have a solution beyond bad referees. We still had turnovers and need to play better in situations like this. Love these guys. Boiler up!
I was just going to post a comment that would have been very similar word for word. I was ready to throw in the season. His perspective is so right on. He’s the guy I want leading the program forever.
Matt u need address the point guard who continues to leave his feet and has no fucking clue what he is gonna do with the ball u can pull that crap when ur in high school and ur playing against some other high school team ,this will cost us come tournament time !!
Coach Painter needs to stand up for his players as it relates to officiating. Somebody is going to get hurt if he just passively let’s this bully basketball continue. I admire the player’s patience, the coach needs to rip some officials ass and get a damn T!
Matt I’d love to come help u at practice with press break. My lack of ball knowledge won’t be a problem since our team seems to have the same level of knowledge
Some people might disagree, but it’s really not that hard to break a press if everyone does what they’re supposed to do. Stay away from the baseline, never go backwards if possible and if you see the trap coming then GO TO THE BALLHANDLER! Don’t just leave him n expect him to throw the ball over two players to u. Ever since I started watching Purdue, they’ve always had issues with breaking the press every single year.
Second half didn’t even feel like a basketball game. Both teams were horrible referees were horrible. All it took was two shots for northwestern to be in front. Disgusting
It doesn't create much money for the conference, when one team dominates everyone else and one team is ranked in the top 25, now does it? Not saying it's completely fixed, but if you don't think refs think about giving nods to home teams with reasonable records. If they don't think , about quality wins for NCAA tournament bids. If multi-millionaire coaches don't go right along with it in press conferences, then you would be a good candidate for bridge buying.....
You think they are altering games to try to pump up money-maker .... Northwestern? Like Jesus Christ, man. Purdue being No. 1 in the country helps the conference, if any conspiracy made sense it would actually be one that keeps Purdue winning and heading toward a No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue is a very good team. They lost to a very game and motivated Northwestern squad that came into this game in a no-lose situation. Just take the L and move on. Purdue will be fine.
@@kevincasey551 You don't read all that well, do you? I didn't say anything about altering games. It's much more subtle than that. The big ten needs more than just Purdue being ranked in the top 25 for half the season. Were you even aware of that? Every team in the NCAA tournament, means money for schools coaches and refs. Mediocre teams like IU and Northwestern, can have beating #1 on their resume, come selection time. Refs are subtle with inserting themselves in games. They are persuaded by the love of money and home court hostility, including at Purdue. I take the loss with no problem, except how money by corruption, NIL, and the transfer portal are ruining college sports. It has to do in large part, with NBA influence....
@@robcornell1156 Indiana and Northwestern are not mediocre teams, that is objectively false. Both are good. Also this conspiracy of getting them into the NCAA tournament makes no sense, both were currently well in the tournament prior to beating Purdue (Northwestern was a projected 9-seed entering Purdue game, IU well higher than that too). Refs are human, so yeah they may subconsciously give a couple more calls to a home team. That's a part of any sport. But doing this so the conference gets a few more dollars (which they wouldn't give to the refs anyway lol)? The most tinfoil hat of all tinfoil hat conspiracies.
Purdue playing basketball. Northwestern, Rutgers, etc playing Rugby
Quit making excuses. Play to their level and the way it’s being officiated. Learn how to break a press.

I can’t even complain about how bad the refs were because those last 5 minutes were fuckin’ atrocious.

I'm equally unknowledgeable - but I have to say despite that, I'm still more knowledgeable than Matt Painter when it comes to breaking the press.

I can’t believe how weak and lacking insight the questions are that Matt gets.
The bad ref's are not an excuse to lose the game, we need to figure this shit out FAST
