Aliens??! I'm shook! very fun concept! i was on the fence about getting a Knott's season pass this time around but this video single handedly made up my mind cant wait to see it myself
I actually think it's kinda cute. I remember back when Timber Mountain Log Ride and Calico Mine Ride first went through their rennovations they were unsure if they wanted to dress them up for Halloween. Having scare actors around and replacing/moving the new and very expensive non-Halloween animatronics was a bit too much of a risk. Now it seems like they are opening back up to the idea of redecorating the attraction whilst keeping many of the original animatronics in place. While I think the theme could be more cohesive (Aliens in an era that predates the 1950s saucer men?) it's a great idea that I hope has spillover into the Calico Mine Ride because retheming dark ride attractions into haunt attractions was seriously one of my favorite aspects of past Knott's Scary Farm events. Plus I think it's kind of cute to try and play "spot the animatronic" with the reuse of some older animatronics from other attractions.
"The Aurora Incident" took place in 1897 in North Texas around the time portrayed in this rides themeing. A large saucer like object was seen in the early morning hours flying over the home of a local judge and crashing into a windmill on the property. When the locals examined the wreckage they reported finding a humanoid life form inside the saucer who had not survived the crash. They took the life form from the wreckage and gave it a "Christian burial" in the towns cemetery. For years a headstone adorned the place of the burial with a loosely illustrated image of the saucer. It has since been stolen. Believe it or don't, my point is that there was stuff like this going on long before it became part of our pop culture in the 50s.
Loved the POV of the video! I felt like I was sitting in the front seat of the log ride riding the ride, so thanks for that. Was looking forward to hearing more of the song from Kirk and the Hillbillies inside the log ride, but it sounds like it was only playing in a small section. Also, from concept art, I thought the skull on top was going to be more "lit up." All in all, it looks like an enjoyable ride. Glad to see them use the Log Ride again for Haunt.
Knott's Scary Farm used to be so much better back in the late 90s and early 2000s. I remember when they used to turn the log ride into the Red Riding Hood theme maze. I forget what it was officially called but yeah... good times. I stick to Hollywood Horror Nights now.

I miss the Sleepy Hollow version. That was the best maze.

if you've never been - then you should definitely do Disneyland first - then perhaps knotts but disneyland should always be first on the list! :)
