I like the look of not seeing the piano hinge the way it folds done versus hinges on top, with hinges on top, protruding above the track. Although I do like the extra support when the walkthro goes up not down. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Thanks Gary. The support seems ok so far but I’ve thought about adding another slide lock. I also thought about moving the piano hinge over more.
Thanks, that’s exactly why I tried it first. I actually had to adjust the track because the Big Boy was touching the wall 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ I have a little scrape to repaint 🤣🤣
Model railroading is a great way to learn all kinds of skills that can be useful in life, including woodworking and soldering. I tried to work out a way to put in a lift out or drop down section in my layout, but I just don't have room. Having to crawl under helps to keep me flexible in my old age.
@@MarkWick I definitely have learned a lot of skills being in this happy. My uncle who is a carpenter, complimented my benchwork. I’m still learning and enjoying. Thanks for watching.
Nice job Corey! I like the fold down access section, almost everyone I’ve seen is lifts up. Also, messy is a sign of genius I am told, my train room and layout is always a mess. Too busy being innovative, building, running, and having fun to always be organized! Good video buddy!
Thanks Mike. I noticed almost everyone has a lift up section and I really didn’t want to do that. My mom gave me the idea of the fold down. After watching a few RUclips videos, I gave this a try and it worked. I agree about the mess. Every time I clean the train room, it’s usually back messy within a day or two!
Well done, both with your camera and your piano hinge. We have a wood warping problem with either the 1/2 inch thick board around or in our walkthru. The boards have been shrinking and expanding, so the rails dont match. Our trainboard is in our cellar, with either heat or ac temp and moisture changes. Not certain if the two foot piece in the walkthru or the surrounding wood is changing. We may switch out to 3/4 inch plywood. Perhaps it might not shrink or expand so much . Gary
Thanks James. Yes I wanted to use the bBg Boy because it is the heaviest. I also wanted to make sure it cleared the curves. I had to adjust the track, because one curve was too close. I have to repaint where it rubbed the wall 🤣🤣
Great job. It's coming along nicely.
Thanks Del
Dude! That is super ingenuitive! Swing down is awesome idea. Soldering skills are fine!
Thanks, that soldering was not easy!
Very well done. 👍
Thanks Xander

Awesome job on the flip down section! Looks fantastic! 🚂😎

Nice job Corey. If your Big Boy can make it that definitely passes the test.

Greetings my king-I like it.
Thanks Howard
I love the trackwork Corey. I had to learn to solder too. You only learn by doing and you did good 👍
Thanks, you’re right. I’ll keep doing it to get better.

@@TheTrainboard Sorry to hear about your warping problem. My plywood is 5/8” I don’t know if that makes a difference.
Looks good Corey.!😊 The draw bridge turned out Awesome.! BIG👍
Thanks Mark
I love the new layout!
Thanks J
Well done Corey! We are currently having issues with our walk through. We may end up switching to a piano hinge. - Ryan
Thanks Ryan. I hope you’re able to resolve the issues soon
YOU R ADVANCING FINELY. IF IT CAN HOLD UP THE BIG BOY THEN U DON'T HAV ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. 🙂👍
