Reminds me. Of a time long forgotten, where the roads were winding, but a township had thrived and gold had been stolen, and commanded utmost respect among wretched men. Reminds me of dear desolate streams old, of changes changed, of life with jest and zest restored to balance, to renewed hope for cowardice abilities that Fleeeth our lips, reminds me of lives loves, spirits fiercely loyal 2 beautiful melancholic melodies, makes the joy of tomorrow's burdens easier to bear.i thank u with all that I am. I hear what u see. And see what I heard..
Bless you, Marissa. I confess that this arrangement did bring up some images of winding roads, and it is intensely nostalgic to me. I am so glad it helped you to enter into a meaningful imaginative experience as well. :-)
She plays so beautifully and it is a joy to watch as her fingers dart over the fret board. At least one of her videos she sings, and you should play it and find that she sings most beautifully as well. Thank you, Jessica.
Beautiful song... As I listen... I see a couple taking a stroll on a path, arm in arm, both looking straight ahead exchanging pleasantries. The left and right side of the path they are on is blurred , meaning the important thing is the path they are on in life. The song is their two hearts having a conversation about each ones wants and needs. There is love there....but not a love of completion and alas the path widens into a fork and each one takes a separate fork in life only to remember what once was and could have been...Now I will read the description....Thank you so much for a beautiful story Jessica.
Apart from the story which the lyrics tell, your narrative is a strikingly accurate illustration of the emotions and memories that informed my arrangement, Jack. It is an honor to have such an intuitive listener. :-) Thank you!
💫 oh my goodness, your performance drew me in so many poignant directions, from wistful to joyous to grateful to hopeful. Your artistry is such a gift, and you are so generous to share it. As always, thank you and God keep you 🌹✨🍃
Jessica Comeau ☺️ oh yes, it truly is. Your quietly humble musical musings are so thoughtfully laid out like a fine meal of nourishing refreshment. Your work, vocally and instrumentally, often reminds me of the incredible Holly Tannen. I have an ancient vinyl copy of her album Invocation, and when she sings ‘All Among The Barley’, I think of you. She reminds me of Autumn and Winter. And you remind me of Spring and Summer. I wanted to share that with you... 🌸🌻🍃
I have loved and listed to (and watched but mostly listened while at work) all of your videos and this one is by far my favorite. Thank you so much for the music that makes my day special.
*Laughs* Your performance of "John Henry" was great at Redwood Dulcimer Day! It was good to meet the face that goes with such a famous name! Thank you for sharing your music, Dusty, and thank you for spending some time with mine, too... :-)
I don't know how many times I've listed to this song (I've created a you tube playlist of similar type of music that I listen to nightly and I often listen to your playlist while at work) but I simply love this song and love your arrangement of it. Lovely, just lovely. Thank you.
You are very kind, Ariane. :-) Thank you for listening... I hope you enjoy learning “Red is the Rose” as well! Please let me know if you have any questions about the arrangement as you work on it.
You have been one of the prominent mountain dulcimer players that I have been studying. This is so very touchingly beautifully done!! I so much appreciate the tabulature!! Arpeggio Perfection! I love this! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for your kind words, Ben, and I appreciate your following my channel as well! I do enjoy getting to share these songs on RUclips, and I’m glad to hear that you enjoy them. :-)
Thank you so much, Fritz! Sometimes improvisations and variations simply flow out from the melody once I've been playing it for a while, and so it was with this song! :-)
Thank you so much, Jason! You can find the tab at my website along with other arrangements and resources: www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/lessons-and-tablature.html
I recently purchased a mountain dulcimer and have been learning to play a few basic songs. I came across this video and was blown away by this performance. What a great tune! It took me a few minutes (and a visit to your website) to realize that you are tuned down to C. Wow what a difference that makes in the sound of this instrument. I like it (better than DAD). I would love to learn how to play this song. Can you point to any resources with the cords or tabs? Thanks.
Well, Rob, I am not aware of a guide to CGC chords, but you could use the DAD fingerings from Neal Hellman's "Dulcimer Chord Book" and shift the name of each chord down one (D to C, G to F, etc.): gourd-music.square.site/product/dulcimer-chord-book-/102?cs=true
So amazing! You have great tone and I can watch these videos all day. I'm planning on getting my daughter a dulcimer. Do you have any recommendations on a maker or things I should look for? I would apprecaite any help.
Thank you for reaching out, James! I’m glad that you have been enjoying my videos. To start out, this link from my website might be helpful to you for finding dulcimer resources: www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/links-and-resources.html Please let me know if you need help with anything else you might find along the way. :-)
Thanks to you, I'm now playing a home made dulcimer guitar, with the low and high strings switched, like a guitar is strung. I've been focusing on the songs from your Dulcimerville video post, trying to play by ear. Since I'm a beginner, are there any easy songs you would recommend, like Cantiga, which focus on using the twin strings for the melody, and the rest as drones?
I’m pleased to hear that my videos have inspired you to bring music into your life in a new way. :-) I have some resources at my website that might be helpful in your song search, especially on these pages: www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/lessons-and-tablature.html www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/products.html www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/faqs.html Very few of the songs I play on RUclips use the drone style, but some are included in my books. “The Water is Wide” in my “How to Play the Mountain Dulcimer” video lesson moves very slowly, at a basic level, and uses the melody and middle strings to play the melody.
There's a dulcimer called the "Seagull Merlin" or something like that. You play it like a three string guitar, like with a strap. The strings are "upside down' like a guitar, too. You may want to check that out, but it seems like you have things covered by being a DIY type of person!
I have found the mountain dulcimer to be a friendly instrument to play, one that can produce beautiful sounds even with very small, simple movements; perhaps it has more secrets to share with you! :-) Thank you for listening!
Music as beautiul as the scent of a rose❤

The only thing I didn't like about your performance, was that it had to end eventually. :P
Ha! You had me going for a while there... :-) Thank you for stopping by, Mr. Polecat!
It was meant as a complement! I hope. Lol. *inserts foot in mouth*
I took it as one! ;-)
Are you Married? I wanna listen to that Music all Day.
Haha! No, but I also do not play music all day, I'm afraid! I guess recordings will have to do! Thank you for listening! :-)
