Delighted with this interview. Marina Khan is so eloquent. I've grown up watching Tanhayian and Dhoop Kinare and during this lockdown, I've watched these plays all over again. I loved going down memory lane. What classics these were and Marina was part of both of them. Thank you Marina Khan for all your work. In India, people of all ages loved watching Tanhayian and Dhoop Kinare. Before Fawad Khan became a heartthrob in India, Rahat Kazmi and Marina Khan were already cult figures. Thank you Fuchsia Magazine for this masterpiece. P.S. Can’t believe I sat through the entire interview. Our attention span has become so short, otherwise. It was very well conducted. Marina Khan is obviously one great actor and had so many interesting things to share. Impressed by the fact that a lot of research was done by the interviewer prior to the interview. Hard work always shows. Keep up the good work.
She is one of the most open minded person i have listened to, till today,, truly justifies her potential as an actress who doesn’t constrain herself in choosing difficult roles,,,, thanks fuchsia for arranging such an intuitive talk,,,

I cannot express how wonderful it is to hear that its still natural to hear salam from Pakistanis like yourself. It hurts me when I hear Pakistanis greet each other excluding Salam especially as a British born Pakistani. Your interviews are well constructed yet very natural and your humility shines through. Also I appreciate how you speak in Urdu despite your guests choosing to speak in English (for some annoying reason!) Urdu dramay banaatay hain aur angrezi mein baat kartay hain aur uppar se doosro ke urdu pe tankeed karte hai! Lo ji, vah bhay vah!
I also want to include I watch Pakistani content only to preserve my Urdu but its so dissappointing to see when our own people speak solely English.

@@aishasiddiq5710 Thank you all credit goes to my Mother she sacrificed herself to ensure me & my siblings had a good upbringing. It was a rule in our home that we only spoke in Urdu. Unfortunately and almost ironically she fell ill living with Motor Neurone Disease for almost 7 years in which she lost her ability to talk. Sometimes life is bitter sweet.

@@aishasiddiq5710 Indeed very painful, patta nahi is mein kaunsa raaz chuppa hua hai ya ye keh saktay hai ke Allah ki kaunsi hikmat hai. Reading and writing is very basic lekin guzaara hojata hai Alhamdulillah, to be honest theres no time anymore and its very rare where circumstances asks you to read and write Urdu. It is however important to carry our tehzeeb in our lives and into our next generation.. a very sweet childhood memory of mine is that Mum used to gather us together and she would read Akbare Jahan to us aur hum barray mazzay se sunnte thay. We would discuss the maslay masail as well as khawabnaama together, you wouldnt think she was taken out of education at an unfortunately young age.
Lovely to see Marina Khan she and Shenaz Sheikh were the inspiration of 80s generation good gup shup Rabia thoroughly enjoyed the interview👍🏻 pls send our respect and love to her regards from Canada😊🌺

I have recently rewatched Nijaat, Dhoop kinaray, Tanhaiyaan, Tumse kehna tha and Parosi during covid times and I absolutely loved Nijaat all over again. What a great chemistry between Tania and AC Asad :) Rabia do watch it 👌👌👌 And Dhoop Kinaray I grew up watching over n over on VCR tape and now I know almost all the dialogues verbally :)
Marina a very decent lady never got vulgar in dressing comparing to other ladies 👍
I am a DOW 82 Graduate , and deeply related to all the college and hospital sequences , the fun and the serious ones .
That drama was so real , as if we were the characters .
The dressing , the way the doctors behaved , the decency even in the most fun part.... so real .
And , the romance between Dr. Ahmer and Dr. Zoya was so subtle , so sensitive , so controlled and beautiful ! All underlying meanings , the dialogues ,expressions and body language , all was so beautiful for every single character .
I always felt I was in there
Dr. Irfan and Anji’s interaction was so cute , funny , subtle ... the comic aspect did not jump into the face , nor did the romantic aspect of Ah and Z .
And Baba , Qazi Wajid saheb ... was such a wonderful character , and all the best parental qualities , dipped in fun .
Even the supporting doctors were so spontaneous , they behaved just as we did on Ground zero in reality .
Then Hameed Waye, Ishrat Hashemite and Azra sherwani, were characters from own families .
Sahira’s direction superb
Bus , Dhoop Kinare should be taken as a model for all directors now .
Am totally off watching Aaj kal ke , run of the mill dramas , which have lost the aesthetics , spontaneity, premise,
They absolutely do not touch the heart or overpowering emotions like Dhoop Kinare ,

Have loved Marina and Shehnaz since Tanhaiyan. It must be odd for them but they are such a big part of the lives of the kids that grew up in the 80s and 90s.

I'm actually very disappointed with her answers about marriage and having children.
She said, "both husband and wife should have the children ONLY if they think that having the child will not reduce love for each other and career paths will not be disturbed," But later she said, "My mother in law said that she can bring up the child, but I still didn't go for it."
She said, "Now I'd say that the marriage is not important for a relationship," but she also said, "the marriage gives a social responsibility to the couple"
She also said, "I'm afraid to be alone or what if I get sick and there is no one of my loved one around me, just unknown medical people"
I really felt that either there was no one for her to counsel her or advise her that such options can be taken, or is she stubborn enough not to listen to anyone? Her answers were very contradicting, very unconvincing.
I know its her personal life, but since she shared all this, so I'm using my right to express my reaction.

At so many times in Dhoop Kinare his dialogue delivery resembled to Dilip Kumar saahab 🥰😍🥰 I closed my eyes and heard his dialogues and for a moment I thought it was Dilip Saab's voice 🙏 We love these serials in India and my teenage daughters also like to watch them with me !!
I absolutely love Marina Khan. Ive met her once in St. Josephs when she came and spoke to all of us. It was an amazing experience. I wanted to mention that Ali Haider lives in Houston and works at a radio station here. You should look for him - if you want the cd back :) It was wonderful listening to her.

Rabia thanks, good interview. She's been a part of my childhood because of Tanhaiyaan. I loved loved her character Saniya. I'm glad she's still doing projects but nothing as good as Parosi, tanhaiyaan, dhoop kinaray etc. Btw just some feedback that I did think you got a bit too personal, it was a bit much in my point of view and kudos to her that she was so polite and humbly answered your questions. Nijaat is reality in your face for the entire duration. Someone with exposure to life wrote it obviously... I lovvvve that play but its hard to go through and definitely not something you want to go through again and again.
A beautiful simple woman who has a wisdom of a lifetime masha Allah. She speaks soo well and has such amazing things to say. I wish we can have her act in dramas that help showcase her talent to the fullest.

Why do all interviews of Marina Khan start and stop with Tanhaiyaan, Dhoop Kinaare.......... they are great dramas indeed, but she did a path breaking and stellar performance in Jackson Heights. If "Dobaara" and "Kabuli Pulao" are making waves now, she did it with aplomb in Jackson heights. The role of an older woman in love with a much younger man, despite having a proposal from an old friend, a man of better social standing and "age appropriate" as per societal norms, she walked the tight rope of a woman who falls hopelessly in love with a young and rather immature / selfish young man. Her character wanting validation in love, was so poignant and not for a moment becomes queasy or quirky. The end too was brilliant! I wish she would be asked to speak about this role and how she managed such perfect tone and balance for the role. She has also done some excellent path breaking work in a series of short films with Mehreen Jabbar, like Farrar, and so many more. It is sad when interviews always center around just the two of her dramas. Recently, her winning the Hum award for Woman of substance should have showcased her other works too. I speak as an ardent fan and admirer of MK, her poise, measured acting and her great directorial ventures.
Marina Khan is love💕love❤️love. She is more beautiful than most young actresses today, and much more interesting to listen too. Nothing can match Dhoop Kinare, the drama. No Jodi can beat Rahat Kazmi, Marina Khan couple. Then the sister Jodi of Shenaz, Marina in Tanhayian. So lovely to refresh memories of those times and behind the scene stories. Thank you Fuchsia for making us meet her.
