I see that they use a schellenbaum ( ringing bell tree ) that the Germans traditionally use in their bands. This was used by a number of countries at an earlier period,originally of Turkish origin called a ' jingling johnny ' but Germany retained it. The horsehair tassels were presented to the German army by the Pasha of Turkey.
