Burn the used cardboard box with wood /stick/branches that fall off of your trees and add the ‘wood ash’ for a plus-up dust bath and also too your garden too

Natural Mulch. From what I noticed from you videos you would need 10 yards. Add 12-18 inches to your runs. I watch another channel and the lady said after a few months her girls are getting added natural food source from the worms, grubs, and insects that love the dark damp decomposition of materials
sand smells so badly over time. i havent changed my bedding in 4 months.. deep litter method. you change the bedding twice a year. just keep adding wood chips every few days. keeps things dry and the carbon helps keep down odor.
What is the deep litter method? Just starting out with chicken this last weekend we have three chicks now and plan to have 8-10
@@joeyhalbrook9818 start with a base of 4-6 inches of pine shavings. Then basically you continuously add wood chips or pine shavings over top of manure every 1-3days depending how many birds you have. Clean out 2-3x a year. Practically no smell. And it generates some heat in the winter to keep birds warmer on cold nights. Also DO NOT heat your chickens.

I no longer use galvanized buckets as they are prone to leaks. Their week point is the weld spots on the handle. They are open...ants will get in, and rain. I now use a rubber barrel that gives a seal.
Put the box and all into your compost bin.

I use reusable nesting box mats off amazon cheaper and I don't have to worry about the bedding issue anymore, when there dirty just wash them off. So far it's been two months and I have yet to wash them
Suggestion: peat moss.

Hi. Tk you for your videos. I think your birds are kicking out their bedding because their boxes are even with the floor. Putting them 6 inches or more off the floor should help with that. Hope that helps.

Maybe direct the water away from your chicken coop try digging a trench or even putting up a sand barrier or something like that to direct the water away from the chicken pen

Hòw many chickens can I have in a 7×5 coop?
Probably 3-6 depending on the size of the birds. I have been told you can fit more, but I always think the more space you can provide, the better. My hens are out of their coop from sunrise until dark, and they only go into their coop (at free will) for food or laying eggs, and then of course to sleep at night. It works out well doing it this way and I highly suggest it. If your birds have access to adequate space outside of their coop during the day, you could definitely add a bit more! But if it's a setup where they are in the coop 24/7 or most of the day, I would say do your best not to crowd them :)
Do you add the chicken manure straight into your garden?
Great question! You can’t add it straight from your coop because it is considered hot (too acidic). You have to have it either sit for a few months with some form of carbon or add it to a compost pile. Once it has been there for a few months then you can use it in you garden. Hope that helps. Double check on the time it would need to be in a compost pile before use. I may be off on the timing. Take care and good luck!

The one with the puffy cheeks/beard is a blue Easter Egger. Her name is Bluebell :)
I use a metal rabbit feeder for my grit (the kind with a screened bottom) and just hung it in their run on the wire. Also you can hardboil the "icky" eggs & mash them up (I use a potato masher) shells and all. The boxes under roosts is genius!
New chicken owner here! I love the stepping stone idea and I have been saving all my boxes to use in the coop once I move them out, so it’s good to hear this works. Also good to know about the pvc feeder and how long that lasts you. Is there a specific recipe for the homemade scratch? Or just equal amounts?

People need to learn to put that diamond tacious Earth in their own food I do. I even give it to my dogs.
Why trough away the boxes? Worms love them and chickens love worms. And you should let them out at least an hour each day. They need more greens and less of that feed crap that you are buying. And more meat like bugs and worms. Get some traps. Cook and feed the predictors to the chickens, they love the meat. Your eggs will be nice and orange. Way healthier than that feed pellet stuff.
Yes, boxes do well in the compost bin! My hens are out of their coop from sunrise until dark. They can access it on their own free will though if they want to go in and eat or lay eggs. My hens eat bugs and greens every day (I have other videos on this), I agree that a varied diet is important. Sometimes I give them scrambled eggs too! I have a fenced in run divided up with a fairly new expansion so that I can "pasture rotate" them and let grass grow back, and I'm really excited about that since everything will start greening up soon. My hens LOVE eating grass lol.
Safe for consumption, but wear a mask when cleaning it out😂
