Disclaimer: This is for entertainment purposes only. I'm just showing how I did this job. Don't operate this kind of machinery without first learning how to use it and using the appropriate PPE.
In this video, I show how I cut a 30 foot long groove into an asphalt road. Instead of the more commonly known Stihl and Milwaukee handheld concrete saws, I opted to use a larger, walk behind EDCO concrete wet saw, and did my work by cutting the groove in multiple passes, like you would a dado in wood with a skilsaw.
I am trying to install an ethernet fiber optic cable under the road for a facilities project and didn't want to direct bore it.
An Asphalt cutter is a really big circular saw that can cut hard surfaces, like concrete slab, asphalt, and other kinds of sidewalk, pavement and road materials. It utilizes a water hookup to keep the blade and concrete material wet so friction doesn't burn up the blade and the dust is kept down and out of your lungs.
Using one of these saws without water is dangerous as the dust produced can get into your lungs and eyes and damage your mucous membranes and breathing. Use caution when working around one of these machine operated while dry.

To lay some conduit under the road instead of hanging the wires over it.
