Hi, I own a Lelit glenda (PL41 Plust pid) and I face an issue with the 3 way solenoid valve. I recently noticed that when I stop the extraction, no water comes out of the 3 way valve. I tried to use the blind basket and some cafiza to clean it up and nothing came out. After several tries, I noticed that if I pour out some water from the steam wand, and I open and close the pump for a short while, some water comes out (valve), but if I keep it longer, in order to build pressure, no water comes out when stopping the pump. I removed the valve piston and it was perfectly clean to my eyes (except of its base/non moving part which was a little brown from the coffee. I measured the solenoid with my multimeter and measured ~1.24 kΩ, so no short circuit here. I also tested it with a wire that I had stripped and gave it power directly. When connected, it kept the piston inside very strongly and when released, it when off with speed, as it was correctly released. I reassembled the pieces and I also checked with my multimeter the voltage at the solenoid while operating the machine and it was perfectly fine (0V and 230V respectively). Group pressure measured at 10 bars with a manometer connected to the portafilter. I lastly inserted some water with cafiza using a syringe to the valve, directly, which case out of the group. Any idea what could be the problem here?
@@lelitinsider2977 The machine was built in 2015. I descale frequently, and I descaled also this time, as part of the troubleshooting. The solenoid valve is quite expensive, that's why I wanted to be sure of it creating the issue.
Hello happy New Year! Thank you for making these videos, but I assume we don’t have to do a cleaning on this unless a technician opens up the machine to diagnose a problem and then at that point determines that cleaning this part would fix the problem. Am I right assuming that ? Thanks!
My machine had a stuck valve due to oxidation. I think it must have sat a long time before purchasing. Cleaning the valve fixed the issue, but should I be worried that other components have now also been oxidized/corroded?
@@monkey_boy_king The 3-way solenoid valve was stuck open. The brass fitting had oxidized. Disassembly and a good scrub with some descaling solution did the trick.
I recently bought a mara x v2 (built in sep 2022), the unit was on display in the shop for a while. After i set it up for the first time with the water tank filled, after turning the power on for about 7-8seconds, water would start coming out to the water tray until the water tank is empty. Would this be caused by issue with the valve?
Hi, can you tell me what this 3 way valve does? I know how 3 way solenoid works, just don’t know why it is needed here. Is it for pressue release between the pump and brew/steam boilers? I think it’s mainly for the brew boiler or e61 group head, I said both is because the downstream from the valve are water inlet to both the brew and steam boiler. If so, why pressue release is needed? Thanks
the 3-way valve is used to take pressure off the pump in the start-up phase in addition to this it serves to return the pressure gauge to the 0 position
@@lelitinsider2977hmm isn’t the OPV valve supposed to do that? The 3 way solenoid seems redundant in a E61 machine, doesn’t it? I get it helps to put pressure to 0 quickly after stopping brewing, but many other HX machines work great without one. It would be very nice if you could explain the logic behind. Thanks a lot for the great product. I am an owner of Mara and Bianca
3-way solenoid valve discharges pressure to the pump, so it promotes priming, a common valve brakes the passage of water, this makes the preinfusion less accurate and changes the flow of the pump, a solenoid valve on the other hand opens a clean passage @@stefanog3035

how old is the machine?
we would evaluate:
1st descaling
2nd replace the solenoid valve

yes you don't need this!
How do you know if this is a problem?

Hi, you mentioned a stuck valve, what was the symptoms that you observed with the unit?

I see, thanks for your reply
Will give it a try
