"it's not so important where you start your bend, rather hitting the target with accuracy and purpose." MAN THIS IS MORE THAN JUST GUITAR ADVICE!! THIS IS LIFE WISDOM! it's like it doesn't matter where you start, but where you're end ur journey with purpose
Great video, very helpful. Quick time for who might not have realized: if you play with a tuner enabled in your DAW or otherwise you can gauge the accuracy of your bends without having to play the target note itself.
Whoah. As a guitarist and theory nerd I scoffed at the title but having watched this I learned something I never knew... am walking away with my tail behind my legs and head down... want to say thanks too... before I run off to rethink my life.
QUICK OVERVIEW OF THIS GREAT LESSON: Best places to bend on minor pentatonic scales Whole note bends flat 7 to the 1 4 to the 5 flat 3 to 4 The next bottom 4 are outside the minor pentatonic scale but they still work well. 1 to 2 (whole step) 2 to flat 3 (half step) 4 to flat 5 (blues note) flat 3 to 3 The next two are one and a half step bends so they are harder to bend. 1 to flat 3 (minor 3) bend only on strings 2 and 4 5 to flat 7 (minor 3) bend only on third string Think of them as target pitches. It's not so important where you start your bend, rather hitting the target with accuracy and purpose. Actually, in general that's a good rule of thumb in life. Cheers!
Really I have been very pleased to inform you that this lesson is very useful for the guitarist, who want to play with bending. Thank you so much for a great lesson.
Hey I ve been playing a while but never got as good as I wanted. ( Do we ever ? ) I knew some theory and scales. I just want to thank you for the excellent quality and clear concise information you share in every single video. Im a better player having found your channel. You get right to the point and I look forward to each new lesson.
Another precise, straight to point video with clear illustration of theory and practice makes you want to grab your guitar to try it out after watching.
Excellent! The pentatonic scale is the most important one. I knew you could blend other scales, but bending into them sounds amazing. Bending a minor third has David Gilmour written all over it. Great video!
I've been looking for a video to explain which notes to commonly use when bending in the minor pentatonic scales for quite a while now and here it is. New subscriber here!
This is such an amazing lesson. As a beginner at soloing i was bending randomly and getting very frustrated with my improvising as it never sounded right.
Check out the graphic @ 5:50 which shows a nifty 2 string repeating pattern over 3 string sets; gets you 3 octaves of the same scale, and offers a few of the demonstrated bend points such as the flat 7 to 1, etc,, very cool! Also would note that a knowledge of the octave shapes fits in very well with this lesson as it helps remembering how you are rising or falling as you move on the fretboard. The meat in this lesson can move a amateurish solo into the pro class, if the instruction is diligently applied and played with in several keys, Many Thanks for the value demonstrated so aptly here!
Fantastic video! Really enjoyed the exercises! Can I ask you about your guitar tone? What kind of pickups are you using on that guitar and what amp? I really, really love your tone in the longer licks on top of the chords, its so crisp and full of character! Greetings from Austria!
understand how scale work and built cords shape ...You teach how music work and built own style.. Why this best channel has less view. But....Thanks a lot...How far 'I play a guitar'
I have an old video that covers a similar concept (just the basics really), though at the time I didn't realise people were calling some of these shapes spread triads! ruclips.net/video/hf3DA53agOo/видео.html
Still can’t wrap my mind around how great this lesson is . This channel is unbelievable
This is THE ULTIMATE guitar lesson Channel. Nothing comes close to it😊👌🎸
I play guitar casually for 11 years... But I've never seen a video explaining stuff THIS GOOD! Thank you very much for this!
The players point of view and the neck diagrams really complement one another. Another great lesson. Thanks
Came to say the same thing. Love this camera angle
Player’s point of view, nailed 100%
I feel I must apologise (again) to our fellow left handed players. RUclips should add a horizontal flip function!
Absolutely right. I didn't know these videos were missing anything, but this adds so much to them! Great job fretjam!
Frankly speaking when I watch somebody left-handed, I don’t feel very challenged. Themselves on the other hand (😂) used to do it all life, so...
Never thought about this layout, until I read your comment.
This a really good way to present a lesson.
Great video, very helpful. Quick time for who might not have realized: if you play with a tuner enabled in your DAW or otherwise you can gauge the accuracy of your bends without having to play the target note itself.

QUICK OVERVIEW OF THIS GREAT LESSON:
Best places to bend on minor pentatonic scales
Whole note bends
flat 7 to the 1
4 to the 5
flat 3 to 4
The next bottom 4 are outside the minor pentatonic scale but they still work well.
1 to 2 (whole step)
2 to flat 3 (half step)
4 to flat 5 (blues note)
flat 3 to 3
The next two are one and a half step bends so they are harder to bend.
1 to flat 3 (minor 3) bend only on strings 2 and 4
5 to flat 7 (minor 3) bend only on third string
Think of them as target pitches. It's not so important where you start your bend, rather hitting the target with accuracy and purpose. Actually, in general that's a good rule of thumb in life. Cheers!

Amazing explanation through visual aid, thankyou
Excellent! The pentatonic scale is the most important one. I knew you could blend other scales, but bending into them sounds amazing. Bending a minor third has David Gilmour written all over it. Great video!
I really like the new overhead shot of finger positions. Probably your best video yet.
Thanks! Best bending video I've seen in months!
Very good lesson ,if you play guitar you know why. Respect

0:00-1:40 ...ok cool, I see...I see what you're doing here.
1:50...**pauses video and listens to Rusty Cage by Soundgarden** Best lesson ever! Haha
Another Cheer for Players Point of View!
I don't know why but my ear LOVES a whole step bend from the root
Mine too! The 2nd/9th has a kind of lonesome, longing feel to my ears. So bending to it from the stability of the root seems to enhance this effect.
As always. Great👍
Nice lesson! :)
AWESOME
Great! Thanks!!!!
Thanks ..For video 🎹🎸🎼

Thanks and greetings! Pickups are just the stock 490s though I'm thinking of changing these. I'm recording through a GT-001. All on the neck pickup.
Thanx!
The world would get filled with lead soloists if they watch these videos.
Really liked seeing you play these licks live on the vid. I've often wondered what finger positions and where on the neck you play.
understand how scale work and built cords shape ...You teach how music work and built own style..
Why this best channel has less view. But....Thanks a lot...How far 'I play a guitar'
Nice
hello Sir , what about the major pentatonic scale?
Whats up Mike, how you doing? Can you talk about spread triads on a future video?
I have an old video that covers a similar concept (just the basics really), though at the time I didn't realise people were calling some of these shapes spread triads! ruclips.net/video/hf3DA53agOo/видео.html
