I am only 16 but it freaks me out to see this kind of people aiming to be one of the senators of our country. Yung mga may karapatang bumoto at nasa legal age na, nabubulag dahil sa pangalan ng kandidato. Ano ngayon kung sikat? Ano ngayon kung artista? May alam ba? May magagawa ba? Kaya ba niya? Guys. the problem was not the interviewer, nor the english language its about that she doesnt even know the laws, and whats worst? she doesnt even know what shes really fighting for because she doesnt know what she will change or do. Shes for women? good but what will she do about it is the question. she lacks conviction. you guys say shes a good person but shes just like any other politician saying what you want to hear like "Im for women" except that the difference between her and other politicians is that she lacks deeper knowledge or basic knowledge for that matter.

Kudos to Karen Davila's professionalism. She noticed Ms. Alma's confusion of the questions asked, so what she did was to rephrase the question and ask follow up questions to get more supporting answers to ms alma's stated opinion. As the interviewer, you have to ask questions like these. Given the fact that miss alma is running for a high goverment position, she should have prepared herself and studied possible questions before scheduled interview.

1. Nasanay lang siguro sa SHOWBIZ INTERVIEW na personal yung question.
2. Isa sa mga Strategy ng UNA, magpaawa sa masa na maging kalaban ang media. Halimbawa na dito yung BINAYbwisitLB.
3. Busy lang siguro sa kakaikot kasama ang Liga. No time sa pagbabasa.
4. Napuyat kasi may taping na ginagawa (sana meron)
5. Akala reality show ang SENATE. Para ndi na mahirapang icast ang gagawing pelikula ng History ng Pilipinas.

Calling her stupid, and unqualified is an understatement. She boasts a lot about her achievements and yet when she's thrown simple questions like these, she fails to deliver. This is why we shouldn't just select our government officials based on their achievements, fame etc. We should always look into their backgrounds and learn everything about the candidates, because the future of our country is dependent on our choice of officials.

I can tolerate a lawmaker with a rather rough personality but is capable of SOUND reasoning. It doesn't only take a genius to take the seat, yes, but it takes someone who's well-versed with logic and critical thinking at the least. I don't hate this woman at all; but let's be real, I certainly don't think she's ready for whatever that lies ahead. If we are to say, "Oh, let's give her a chance and she might eventually learn about how things work in the senate", then what will happen if things fail? Also, I just can't imagine how would she be able to go on a debate with the other senators; the ones who are lawyers, especially ma'am M.D. Santiago, to defend whatever proposition Alma is yet to bring upon the senate. She even expressed her reservations toward the bills (RH, Anti-Political Dynasty, etc.) which are ought to lead to better ends. Other hot issues like that of the LGBT's are yet to be scrutinized upon, and can't just be overlooked by saying "It's a sin for them to engage in marriage, etc.", without a logical explanation to support her claim. There's the BBL, and tons of other issues to be looked upon. There's already too much drama in the senate in recent years, no need to worsen the situation. As an example, how in the world would you be able to face "fierce" personalities like M.D. Santiago in the senate when she starts to recite you several verses of the Philippine constitution? You know you can't just ask them, "Kailangan pa bang sagutin yan?".

I am inclined to like Alma just because of the service she has rendered in her years in office.
If she loses this bid for a Senate seat, it will be OK. She might still keep the presidency of the league.
Somewhere other than the Senate will be good enough for someone sincere enough to offer her service.
I see, but hard work alone can't justify one's competency especially in this particular field. There are just way too many wise and treacherous people in our government who prey upon people who can possibly be persuaded easily, using them as tools to advance whatever evil schemes they are plotting. Thank you for that rather "educated" response, but sadly, I can't agree with you totally. Then again, I don't hate Alma.

Napapailing nalang ako, habang pinapanood 'tong interview na to. Hope this interview may serves as an eye opener to all voters to cast their votes wisely. Huwag po tayo papadala sa kasikatan or panunuhol ng mga kandidato.

Once and for all sa mga comments na "wag manghusga", "may puso naman siyang magserve, kesa sa mga matatalinong politiko na magnanakaw naman pala", at sa mga sinisisi ang English language at ang pag e-English ni Karen Davila. I need to contend a few points:
1. It is the "obligation" of the public to scrutinize the candidates most especially that the office will affect at least 100 million lives for the next 6 years! One useless cerebrum on that seat will cost the tax-payers around 2,190 days of vain payment to a futile public servant. Never play the "Don't judge" ticket to allow anyone flee from culpability idiot-proof. That mantra has been abused and misused to mean na lahat na lang ng bagay ay wala na tayong karapatang i-carefully examine. Ano gusto nyo mangyari maging manhid tayo at itapon natin pake natin sa mga bagay that concern us? That is one way of breeding a crooked mentality na takot sa liabilities, of course nagpa-interview ka para marinig ka ng taong bayan and yet bawal magcomment ang mamamayan? Tatakbo ka but then di pwedeng magreact ang botante? Of course may inevitable consequences and that's part of it. We are doing more harm than good the moment we scoff on other people's faces na "wag mag judge" instead of helping them improve their judgment by sharing a constructive viewpoint, we are instead impelling more minds to jump into the irresponsibility bandwagon by conditioning an attitude na pwedeng gumawa ng kahit ano kasi bawal ka naman ijudge ng iba. Of course pwede magjudge as long as it is righteous!It is in fact noble and healthy na magjudge righteously (the form that we ought to exercise in voting, ergo voting is an expression of judgment).
2. Speaking of judgment parin, sino ngayon ang nanghuhusga? Accusing Karen Davila of premeditatedly putting down Alma? Demanding na "ibaba" niya ang level niya dahil mababa ang level ng kanyang kausap (that's also judgment to Alma, is it not?) You sure want that someone running for an office na hindi biro ay hindi isusubject to the standards appropriate for the position? So bale gusto mong mangyare iinterviewhin ang isang senatorial candidate in the same way sa pag-iinterview ng saleslady? (not putting down sales ladies, i'm just pointing out the obvious difference in qualifications and expectations). Hindi ba nakakahiya sa mga mambabatas natin na nag-aral ng mahabang panahon to equip themselves to hurdle the demands of the job and further engaged in profound technical experience bago man lang sumubok gampanan ang mas demanding na role? tapos biglang tatapatan ng walang alam sa issues na kinakaharap ng bansa natin for a substantial amount of time already? See why the people are appalled? Kung anong baba ng kapasidad ay siya ring taas ng confidence para pasanin ang napakabigat na responsibilidad? Tapos gusto natin manahimik? Toinks lang.
3. Hindi enough ang "puso lang" na magserve. Di mo magagamit yan once nasa kalagitnaan ka na ng discourse inside the house tackling technical legislative issues! Nganga ka! Profound knowledge is fundamental. And whether or not magnanakaw ang mambabatas is irrelevant sa kanyang intellectual capacity. Di porke't maraming matatalinong mambabatas na magnanakaw eh magnanakaw na lahat ng matatalino. That's stereotyping. Nor it is intended to mean na ang hindi matalinong mambabatas ay hindi rin magnanakaw. That's negative inference fallacy! No one could ever warrant na ang mahinang utak ay hindi magnanakaw! Furthermore, if you really have the heart to serve, why not start by academically preparing yourself? Hindi mo alam na prerequisite yan ng position? Di mo alam na mahigit dalawang libong araw ang ibibigay sayo para makiisa sa paggawa ng mga batas na magdadala sa mahigit isang daang milyong mamamayan tapos wala ka man lang kaalam-alam? Is it not the pilot sign of irresponsibility? Gagawing training ground ang senate house? So training tools ang mamamayan? Sobrang devalued, disgraced at dishonored na ang ating political seats dahil sa mga nagtatakbuhang academically incompetent candidates at mamamayang bumoboto sa kanila kapalit ng halagang P500! That's 23 cents per day for 6 years! Ang mura na ng dignidad natin! Nakakaawa yung mga nag-aral ng law ng matagal para tapatan ng ganun-ganun na lang ng mga hindi tine-take seriously ang bigat ng responsibility ng posisyon. The very fact na alam mong wala kang sound qualifications at appropriate academic background pero tatakbo ka pa rin is a major blow sa mga mamamayang magpapasahod sayo! It should hit us right on our foreheads kung bakit? Ano pakay mo na tatakbo ka na alam mo namang you lack the essential conditions? Kung totoong responsable ka mag-aaral ka muna kasi alam mong kailangan yan sa posisyong gusto mong upuan! Gumising tayo.
4. At eto na, English! sinisisi ang English! Mula kindergarten tinuro na sa atin yan. Part ng curriculum na ituro mula elementary, high school at college (naipasa mo diba? ibig sabihin alam mo?), at may subjects na official medium of instruction ang English kagaya ng Math and Sciences, and by constitution official language din ng bansa natin. Most modern Filipinos are Taglish speakers. Advertisements at mga palabas na tinatangkilik ay English na palabas. Tapos sasabihing napaka ambisyoso at impokrito ng Pilipino sa pagtangkilik ng banyagang wika? Hindi ba pwedeng NECESSITY lang? Na realize nyo ba gaano tayo magigging ka-behind sa sibilisasyon kumpara sa buong mundo kung hindi natin inaral ang English bilang official international language of correspondence? Magkakaroon ba tayo ng TV? Internet? Any form of technology? medical advancements na pinakikinabangan ng ating kalusugan? Nakagawa na ba ang pilipinas ng sariling teknolohiya para masabi nating di tayo dapat umasa sa western world kaya no need na mag english? The very comforts of life na ineenjoy natin ngayon ay hindi mapapasaatin kung patuloy tayong hiwalay from the rest of the world. Ano gusto natin sila ang pag-aralin natin ng Tagalog? Ano pa ang kulang para di ka na makalusot sa pag-iwas ng English? Mind you mas mahirap pagdiskusyonan ang batas in pure tagalog mas sasakit ulo mo! At bilang isang politician na nakaupo sa isang mataas na goverment seat, what are the odds na maiinvolved ka sa international projects/endeavors/causes etc and work with foreigners? Pagtatagalugin mo din sila? I can't believe na pati ito kailangan pang ipaliwanag? SMH.
