Back in the 80's and 90's I did a lot of business with exporters of trucks and parts. (Lots of our older heavy trucks went to South America, Africa, and The Middle East). If any major component like engine, trans, rears showed evidence of having been apart recently, they didn't want it. They always figured somebody did something to hide a problem, or even if it wasn't an attempt at dishonesty, whoever did it was incompetent. And these guys were full time in the business of buying used trucks and equipment. It's been my experience that they were 100% right

awesome vids. All of them. I`m a retired mechanic/ tech, worked on police cars 30 years. and still doing it in my shop everyday. To everyone out there, you can`t get enough info from other techs. even when you think it seems uninteresting. keep watching this tech for what ever you can grab from him. Thanks for the vids Anthony.

I did a pre-purchase inspection on a seemingly fine Prius. Got it on the lift, and found was 2 cars welded together!

Dealers also need to be held accountable for not wanting to put money into these vehicles and nickel and dime every recommendation a tech gives before it’s sold.

I tell everyone 2 hours. I’m not going to do those inspections unless I get to inspect the car. There’s too many sketchy things going on these days from impacted to hell bushings, literally missing stab link, the craziest wiring I’ve ever seen, etc. I don’t even feel comfortable doing just a road test with a scan anymore. These cars get no maintenance and the sellers hide what they can.

Yup. Even airbags and seat belt tensioners. Crazy stuff.

Boy do i have an $8,000 (just in sub frame, brakes, wheels, wheel cyls, washer bottle, front struts, rotors, brakes, front tires, steering gear, control arms, speed sensors, exhaust, sway bar and links, tie rod ends and multiple misc parts) mistake story i can tell ya bout how true you are. Even tho i knew better a new paint job and buying it from a reputable car dealer i figured wrong. A $5,500 kia rio5 ended up costing me $15,000 BECAUSE i didnt get it up on a lift. Biggest ream i ever gotten because i got lazy on a buy as is.

That's the best $300-$500 a car buyer will ever spend. Only consider buying quality, proven cars! Pay Anthony that little fee and you'll be set. Ask around about the junk people got stuck with because the car looked nice. Again, if I'm spending $10-$15K on a vehicle, $500 for a professional inspection is well worth it.

Had "The Talk" with a Shop, this week, about my 21 year old (191k) vehicle. Had it in to Diagnose a flaky Starter and intermittent ABS Light/Sensor. They did what I asked (Diagnostic and Estimate) but then also had to "get real" with me that I could put money into that but given the Frame on the Passenger Side is basically rotted away/gone... Its only a matter of time before it either breaks in half or some other component(s) decide to fail/fall off. Spent $200 for them to give/get the "Big Picture" and I'm glad to have it.
Been spending money to get Oil Analysis done on its Engine for basically 20 years... It was well worth "knowing" that my OLM was accurate could go the distance... Now I wish I'd have spent a little extra to get the car detailed/washed more frequently particularly in Winter Time. Have an unlimited pass for the last year on all my vehicles so that should be less a problem for my "new" vehicle but will probably do some "Rust Proofing" to help too...

@@lgoamity Surface Shield on all exposed metal every fall. Works good. Rust never sleeps, LOL. 26 yr old vehicle still hanging in there!

@@dennyj8650 Was thinking the same... Surface Shield from (PB) Blaster... I've heard good things. Heard it works up to two years... Although some people have complained that the cans like to clog up (only able to use 1/2 cans? Maybe they don't shake/handle/store correctly?)
