    I love the turbo on my NES Advantage, so removing it is a dealbreaker. The case looks taller and it doesn't have as smooth of a down slope to lay your wrist on. It just looks like a cheap knockoff. Add turbo switches, make the case more ergonomic and keep the price under $35 and I might buy one.

    The only problem I see is they took the advantage out of the NES advantage. Reliable Turbo is one of the best qualities of the original. This new one still looks fairly decent though.

    I do agree it's disappointing there's no slow-mo or turbo on this thing... I mean even without the adjustable dials having it would've made it so much better! I already have several advantages (don't ask how I wound up with so many) so this first iteration wouldn't do it for me personally, but yeah if a version 2 came out that had those features I might think about it just because of the higher quality parts!

    I still have an NES Advantage, but this is pretty tempting just for the microswitches. Literally the only reason I regret giving a friend of mine my Quickshot is the clicky responsiveness of those things.

  • @krillen64

    I like my original NES Advantage. I got it years ago from a friend for free. Had borrowed it for a little bit from him and when I went to give it back he said I could keep it. Boy did I get lucky. Don't use it for every game but when I do use it I love it.

  • @agentantzgamesaveranthonyc211

    I don't know if it's standard, but my Nes Advantage has a heavy, metal plate on the bottom. Gives the stick a good sense of heft. I guess it keeps it from sliding around the table. Same reason I added weights inside of my 360 fightsticks few years ago.

    Hmm $25 huh? Well a NES advantage can be found for like $5-10 so you have the turbo dials and everything.
    I just found this video right after i got one of my own. Super yellowed, i love it because that means there's been a history to this controller.
    That being said had i gone with retrobit's controller i dont think i would have been disappointed with that gated joystick and all. The advantage has that squishy kind of design that was used on a lot of early sticks, rather than the clicky buttons.

    As nice as the Advantage was, it's not micro-switched, it's rubber domes - so it can feel a lot more spongy. This new one sounds a bit too clicky, a sort of cheap clicky, not Hori clicky.
    I love the original, but do often hunger for a more modern micro-switched NES joystick.
    By the way, don't buy the SNES Super Advantage thinking it must be as good as NES advantage. It's not, it's pretty much awful, and not as good. Get a good micro-switched arcade stick.

      Actually this one works just as well as an original advantage, without the turbo of course. I like this because I don't have to abuse my original ones and can keep them in nicer shape for longer. That's the same reson I use clone consoles when I play my cartridges. My original hardware can stay nice and not get abused as much.

    • @subzero8679
      @subzero8679 5 лет назад

      Actually, there are a lot of great clones that use actual hardware, and perform perfectly, come in HD, and have 16:9 and 4:3 selector switches, and there are tons of well made accessories as well. You have no clue what you're even talking about. Yes, I love the originals, and have lots of retro consoles in my collection, but I also like many different clone consoles too. You'd be surprised at how good some of them really are. They aren't all cheap clones with garbage emulation inside of them. Some even play games from other regions, like PAL, which is awesome, because a lot of gamers want the advantage of being able to play many different carts from around the world on one console. I also like the clone consoles because I dont have to abuse my original hardware all the time. A $50 or $60 dollar clone I'm not so worried about breaking.

    So this is what retro gaming has turned into huh? Just a bunch of cheap throw away garbage consoles and accessories designed to take advantage and make a quick buck off the retro craze. What’s the point of this? For less than $25 you could buy a real, used NES advantage that still works 30 years later because it’s actually well built. I really wish people would stop supporting and encouraging this nonsense. Save your support for products like the AVS or the Super NT that actually add something of value to retro gaming.

    • @zaneiken07
