- I'm in shock. My sister was on this show and she was pushed away by Alina Zagitova. I am really in shock so far. In Russian, she told her - take your hands off me!
Just because one has paid to meet and greet Alina, it does not mean an automatic pass to hug her without her permission. Boundaries and respect of personal space is important.
Except no one got hugged... did we watch the same video??

Oh come on! This is a paid photo with young kids. It’s not some creep down the street. These are fans. She even swiped their hands from her shoulders. If she doesn’t like to be around people then she shouldn’t do these type of events.

Even if you want a paid photo with your favorite skater, you need to follow some rules. I know that she does not like to be touched and many people are saying the people were hugging her (except for the one girl which is bad). They were not hugging her. I think when posing the hand on the shoulder is a polite and innocent gesture. Children who are taking photos with Alina may not understand why she doesn’t want to be touched and may take this in a personal way. I think she could’ve just held it in for a second for a photo instead of pushing the girls hand off. This is my opinion and what I would’ve done.
did you not see on the third child when she let touch her shoulder lower, how she raised her other shoulder out of discomfort? some people can even get panic attacks when they are touched without warning. obviously she has a similar issue and she was quite polite given the discomfort she obviously felt

How anyone can watch this vid and see Alina at fault is beyond me. In what world is it acceptable to hug a stranger from behind without permission?? So famous and important that she is therefore ‘untouchable’. Everyone else at the meet and greet happily let CHILDREN put their arm around them for a picture they had waited patiently and paid for. These were young girls who simply wanted to place an arm around their idol and were pushed away in a most rude and snobbish way. I am an Alina fan and this has certainly made me see her in very different light.

It's not only what she does but the way she does it, she doesn't even look at them, like they're a bug on her shoulder. Boundaries argument is valid but with kids? Kids who look up to you and frankly help to finance your lifestyle? No excuses.

In re watching this video it seems that the girls hugging and touching Alina thought they could do so because they could hug the guy and he was receptive to it. The organizers should have announced no hugging and this would not have been an issue.
I think that's a great solution. Just tell people no hugging and there wouldn't be an issue. 👍🏻

Alaric i recall that in a show that was in feb 2020, alina herself denied to go to the autographs session that was taking place just after her performance of me voy in the ice show. It could be due to stress or maybe struggling with her public image and how to deal with it

Poor Alina! She must be have been exhausted. No one should touch her without permission, that makes total sense. Sometimes I don't want to be touched, She is not different. And everyone wants to touch her all the times, her managers should protect her more. She is very nice to have been there and accept pictures and smile and sign to so many people. She is just great. Also she might have been on her nervs that day for some reason, maybe someone did something wrong and she was not relaxed, I wish her the best.

It's an exaggeration, it's definitely not that she hates her fans. Maybe she doesn't like being touched or hugged by strangers.
But when there was a gala at the 2018 Olympics and Yuzuru was standing next to her, she hugged him. He even hugged her at the next competition the next year, congratulating her on her medal.
I think she only likes to be hugged by famous people who will increase her profile and bank balance.
Compare her demeanour to say Sasha Soldatova, who has had mental health problems but beams with warmth and kindness to kids/fans.
the way she touches the girl at the end said a lot to me.. it seems to me that she was overwhelmed and felt completely out of control, setting physical boundaries is the easiest way to make that feeling clear to everyone around you and gain some of that control back.. she even backs that up verbally telling them not to touch her.. especially in social situations like this, it's very easy to give up your boundaries after being pushed so many times so you can please people but she straight up reinforced it over and over again. 👏 she did absolutely NOTHING WRONG! this is healthy, this is normal.. just because you're a "celebrity" and have "fans" does not mean that you are an object and that people have the right to touch you. i'm very proud of her for advocating for herself like that.

Alina is not a bad person at all. She cares a lot about children. She helps kids with disabilities and with different medical problems. She take pictures with them, she smiles in the pictures but she doesn't hug. Maybe she doesn't like much hugs.
The girls that were taken their hands off should not take it personally, Alina doesn't hate her fans but she just isn't a hugging person, especially the girls were told not to do that, those were the rules for that moment. Sometimes being a celebrity it can be a way to big burden for one to carry.
But time will go by, she will grow and eventually she will learn how to deal compromises.

I know I'm really late but I honestly I do feel for Alina. She looks really uncomfortable and she's probably tired, it must be difficult smiling and waving for hours especially after a competition or training when you just want to go home. Yeah she probably could have been a little more considerate in how she did it, but it is her body and I know I would feel uncomfortable if a stranger hugged me without asking or talking to me first, even if another person might have been fine with it. Honestly, they're kids and she may just be a very awkward person. She seems really sweet in other videos, maybe she's just not that good with meet and greets.

Alina is one of the most educated and classiest people in all of skating. She has never been rude to fans. she is always attentive.. But having someone that touch you without your consent is unacceptable.

Okay .... I don't know how everyone sees this but... fans have tendency to hug their favorite celeb , some happily accept them some are awkward about it.
May be she doesn't like to be touched by others , may be she feel shy , may be awkward, may be she's worried about touches . No one is at fault .

The original video of this autograph signing is 30 minutes long & Alina is very polite throughout despite not exactly looking like she wants to be there. This video cuts the few events together and makes her look like more of a diva than she actually was. A bit misleading I think. Alina is a sweet girl who deserves her personal space.
I’ll add that she was very politely taking selfies with a few older girls, their faces very close together no problem. The random little girls hugging from behind and touching her like that was probably getting really annoying.
I mean why does she feel so famous that she push her out of her hug.
I understand that you can be annoyed by your fans but that's no reason to be so unfriendly.
I mean theres something called personal space. touching someone without their permission is considered rude. all she did was gently remove the girls hand its not like she pushed or tried to shame the girl how is that considered rude.

If you are adult, this video is a good lesson to teach your children and beloved ones for basic elements of etiquette and “personal space”. That will help them to avoid being pushed away for undesired touches and invading personal space. The girl might be sweet but she did not respect another person’s space/right for privacy. This is also a lesson for organizers of the event. There should have been clear instructions for what cannot be done.
Came across this today when looking at figure skating videos. One thing to know, and honestly, I don't know if this could play into her preferring not to be touched, but she is Muslim. She is a Tartar from Tatarstan and they are Muslim.

А если родители не в силах воспитать своих детей, то пусть не выводят их в общество, а держат дома, в клетке, как обезьянок, пока они не усвоят, что лезть со своими объятьями к посторонним людям нельзя.

I don't think she "hates" them, its a strong word. however, she seemed really rude. & I get people deserve their personal space, but she's a huge Russian celebrity/public figure. and for that, she gets to enjoy the fame, money and privilege, sorry but I guess personal space comes as a trade off. you can't have the best of both worlds. those fans paid to see her and simply cannot contain their excitement. quite shocked to see this bc didn't she claim that she was brushed off by some famous skater when she was a kid and was very disappointed bc of that? and hence she said that she tries to greet every fan nicely bc she doesn't want them to feel the same way as she did? practise what you preach... P.S. she definitely wasn't startled... I think she should have expected that surely most of her fans will be very excited to meet her and thus she should have known that some will definitely wanna show their admiration for her with a hug! at this autograph session Alina hugged other children, took photos with them, she is very polite with other people, I think she didn’t like the girl suddenly hung from behind. After all, the guard told everyone not to touch.

I’ve been to book signings and there was a stated rule : do not touch the celebrity. What teenager who was forced by her mother and country to compete in a sport she wasn’t interested in, would want hoards of complete strangers touching them?

Solution: instruct them not to touch her while they are waiting in line for their turn.
They may have done so, and the kids either got excited and forgot or simply ignored the instructions.

Любой нормальный человек испугается объятий постороннего человека. Да ещё и когда хватают со спины, полностью беря руками в кольцо. Были к Алине и другие прикосновения, но на этом видео самое некорректное. Она вежливо ответила, молодец, хотя и видно, что испугалась. Мало ли, что на уме у человека за спиной. Один раз в такой же ситуации оказалась в возрасте Алины. Я это помню до сих пор, т.к. напугали очень.

Such a BS title coupled with incorrect translation. Alina is one of the skaters that takes time to sign autographs and take pictures with the fans. Last year she was the only one who stayed for an hour after the show in Ufa, obviously for free. In this vid, anybody with common sense would see a badly organized meet-and-greet session and one rude and arrogant teenager who thought that Alina was a toy.

This is really unfortunate but you’re wrong to blame Alina. It’s neither Alina’s fault nor the young girls’ fault. Alina actually looks startled when the young girl wraps her arms around her from behind. She had a reflex reaction to being grabbed like that which is totally understandable. It’s the fault of the event organisers who did not establish proper rules for the youngsters on touching her. They should have had their own security staff on-standby to manage things properly. It’s very unfortunate as I’m sure some of the girls who she had to ask not to touch her may have felt bad but the blame lies firmly with the event organisers. Personally, I hate strangers touching me, it makes my nerves on edge so I completely understand why Alina had that reaction.
In what world is it okay for a stranger to try and hug another person without asking them if it’s okay first? People used to be really mean to her when she won at the Olympics and I’m guessing some people have tried to do something bad to her at events and it’s made her wary of people. Don’t judge her until you know everything, that’s not fair.

I feel like she just doesn’t like touching people or is just overwhelmed by the number of people touching her . I remember seeing on her ig her greet a little girl who won a competition to meet with with a hug and it’s like a totally different person.
