Thank you for the interpretation of both the tune and the title ... I've played chords for it in a contradance band, but now you've got me motivated to really learn "Star of Munster" on mandolin -- maybe even fiddle -- because I probably had several generations of great-grandmothers from Munster ... Limerick, Waterford, Cork and small towns in between. Perhaps at least one of the great grandfathers was a fiddler with a romantic streak!
Hi Maia, thanks so much! I'll definitely do some videos like that, but it might be a while - I'm in the middle of building a house, so free time has been a bit scarce! In the meantime, I know Kevin Burke has done great technique videos on RUclips, so definitely check those out!
Irish traditional music does go back very much to a baroque heritage, and I think they still share some similarities. My fiddle isn't an authentic baroque instrument, but it's as close as I could reasonably get 😉. I'm actually playing that in standard A440 (playing in a less common key), but I do love that sound you get with A415!
I was born in Munster, it is a province of Ireland, a crown is it's symbol.

Thank you very much, sir, and I'm glad you're giving the tune a try - it's a fun one to play!
I'd love to see a video where you explain how you do all of your awesome ornaments. I wish I could do mine like you do. Also, cool tune.
