- Some clips I condensed down from around 4 hours of footage I got during the 2007 TF2 Event in 2024. During this time, the item servers were down for a few days making it so everyone had to play default classes with no cosmetics. I play as the Demoman but Mostly Sniper in this video. I showcase a few salty games as well because it wouldn't be me playing if someone didn't randomly get super salty at me. Enjoy!

@@BalloonTombs yeah when I realized it was fatmagic I stopped trying my usual approach of counter sniping. He doesn’t show it here but I ended up going spy and backstabbing him a few times
You know why I loved the 2007 update so much? You could actually kill spies normally and didn't have to spend 10 being paranoid about them using the deadringer and kunai

ngl this "event" was kinda refreshing. didnt have to worry about dead ringers, kunais, phlogs, scorch shots, etc. everyone was on an even playing field more or less. also, nice to see more people are aware its you
Not everyone was on a level playing field, and skill issue for all the things you just mentioned being things you need to worry about
@VentA_7 I understand there's still going to be skill gaps, but bc nearly everyone had stock, it was hard to discern how many hours people had and so it was a safe bet to assume they're all relatively experienced. And by the end, it all came down to how good people were with stock, acting like a baseline.
Of course, it's not like I rage at the sight of any of the weapons I mentioned. There is an inherent skill in using the kunai for example. I'm just saying that for a moment, it was nice to not have to worry about those weapons.

Aimbot installs itself automatically after 1k hour.
Bad players: Sniper is the worst class because they just headshot you from 500 meters away, you basically can't enter their sightline.
Also bad players: Getting two headshots in a row means you're clearly a bot, no Sniper can do that, it's physically impossible.

I dont blame the guy for mistaken skill to cheats, its very easy to mistaken it nowadays. Everyones wants to play fair, so when theres some VERY good tryhard on server topscoring everyone, and also the sniper, it may be very sus
The reason I called that was because Mr magic was only like a few inches out of cover (not even enough to be visible for me to shoot him) when he shot me.

The best part of the 2007 event was people LARPing like it actually was 2007 and making ideas for weapon unlocks that already existed.

What got me into this game was a video with the spy playing casual with default setting and the fisherman or pirate music using the dead ringer. Wish I could play right now tho.

I wonder, has it ever been figured out what caused the item server outage? I don't think Valve ever mentioned it once...
This is during that time where there were no items like hats available? I like this idea of "what it would be like in 2008 but in 202x", just like what happened during those days when the servers crashed... and it only further proves that Fatmagic REALLY CAN PLAY. Against other players who did not have their items (various weapons except the base weapons), the ability can be clearly differentiated... it is true that Sniper is not exactly a difficult class, but Fatmagic knows how to use it, is attentive to his surroundings and the others. players DO NOT know how to adapt very well or they do not know that TF2 are paranoid about the e Spies after so many years... that's exactly why they complain... they don't really know how to play well at all.
tbf his default sniper loadout is all stock (reskins, but stock nonetheless), and the only cosmetic he tends to wear as sniper is the Monoculous hat. Even his default demo is all stock, so the affect on his loadouts with the item servers down was minimal.

I feel like if tf2 ever gets a real update, they should add a game mode with no unlocks or cosmetics like 2007. It was really fun to play without any unlocks or anything. Everyone was practically the same level of fighting

People on their way to delude themselves and think the guy who missed or hit a bodyshot still has aimbot (they do not realize those things can't miss) (they also have egos bigger than your average Sniper main)
Aimbots absolutely can miss. Not every cheater is a blatantly obvious one.
