"Who ever built this, thinks of driving as a chore" wow that is the most profound statement from this series!
Someone has finally found a way to explain why car fans dislike EVs
Exactly. Ed kinda blew my mind then.
"and those who built Viper love driving more than living"
@@user-aRb00d3r that's how people conceive skydivers and adventurous people. They don't understand the experience.
Totally agree with him
My favorite gas guzzler from the series was the cop car during the Cannonbolian Run scene. But we know there was only one true winner of the gas guzzler contest
Where did you come from 😁😁😁
Roadblock ftw!
Ahhh! Roadblock, aka Fetty Se❗
It was great to see Roadblock in all its glory one more time.
It was great to see roadblock pre tree
What did you think of Car Trek 8? Thanks so much for watching.
Loved it! Thank you all so much for continuing to make these!
You guys did a great job, and your bently was quite literally the prettiest car on the series yet.
Great but wished it was longer!
You guys do a great job of leaving us wanting more. I'm glad we got more Ficarra in this one, too!
I enjoyed every minute of car trek 8. I love the collaborative content between your 3 channels (that I watch often by the way) inspiring me to be at your levels of success one day in RUclips. Ty to all that are associated with the car trek series. Really…..🙏
9:17 "Whoever loves that viper, loves driving more than they like living!" Funniest line I heard in awhile
I think Tyler hit the nail on the head when he was talking about finding the limits of the car in a safe environment. One of the first things my father did when I got my drivers license was take me to the snow covered mall parking and show me how to spin the car around and recover. Much better to have that knowledge and skill before you get yourself into a situation you can't recover from. Plus it made driving so much more fun later on in life.
My grandpa did the same. But he made me keep a cup of McDonald's lava coffee between my knees to teach me to keep calm during it
I would like to do that but it rarely snows here
Knowing the limits and how to recover from bad situations is very important. Not only on snow. Norway for example has a mandatory safety training for their drivers licence and I think its a great idea. My mom was a very insecure driver until she got one and I also started experimenting a lot after I got my car. Iits not only fun it also makes you a better and safer driver. 0 Accidents so far despite having a few code brown situations like the rear loosing grip in corners on suddently slippery roads or going to fast into a cornor because you underestimated it. It doesn't protect you from idots but it can help you defusing situations. A lot of people can't even do a full emergency brake in a streight line even though its mandatory in our driving test.
@@IncusVidz great comment! I just need to find some place that I can practice without destroying my tires or the surface I'm practicing on.
@@IncusVidz yah. I wish we had something like that here in the US. Some folks take drivers education, but it doesn't cover the unexpected and really only covers the rules of the road and basic operation. Beyond that it's a free for all out there and it shows!
"Whoever designed that Viper enjoys driving more than they enjoy living".....😆......Ed wins the internet today. 😂. I really enjoyed this - really topical and deals with a question a lot of petrol heads are going to have to answer for themselves over the coming years. I know the Viper won.....but....man......that Bentley....
Yup that expression summed up Tyler's fear while driving it😂😂😂😂
I don't mind electric, as long as it has a supplementary petrol engine like hybrid racecars do. Best of both worlds. Imagine a hybrid destroked high revving viper.
" 60% of men will suffer from some type of erectile dysfunction, but we brought Tyler Hoover here to solve his..."
Best line of the video. 😂
Carrol Shelby is the Godfather of sports cars IMO. The Viper is an awesome machine 🤙
Tyler's prize was so...sweet yet ever so nerdy. He got to play pretend, get paid to do so and have his friends join him.
I mean, isn't that what most people do everyday in their normal lives? Lol
also tyler choosing ed to wear the red shirt! lol
Forced his friends to join him 👉👉. It's even sweeter
it was ... wholesome
@@deejayimm Yeah I’m a mechanic and I pretend all day I can fix cars lol. Fake it till you make it
My professor used to say, "there are 2 ways of seeing cars. 1 is a tool to get from A to B. the other is an experience to enjoy getting to B in style."
i agree with Ed..
I keep coming back here to listen to Ed’s “I have a robot that lives in my house” monologue. Someone needs to clip that, an excellent piece.
Ed Takei: "BUT I LOVE HIM, DAMMIT!!"
Time stamp?

@@viktorlindeberg7363 Thanks! (Tack!)
Ed NAILED IT on exactly how I feel about the whole Tesla experience.
Tyler: my daughter said that a tesla is her dream car
Ed: did you tell her she's adopted?
This had me dying😂
Same here😂😂
You've won!
Same here😂😂😂
W Ed😂
Ed's humor is just perfect and can be so blunt sometimes lol
''60% of men will suffer some kind of erectile dysfunction but we brought tyler hoover here to fix his''
Ed is absolutely hilarious this season 😂😂😂
My favorite part this season lol that got me so much lol
and Ed was closest guessing premium gas prices when this was released aug 7 2022 $4.81
and Hoovie was closest guessing premium July gas $5.48
Ed always has the wittiest funny comments!
"oh my"
Ed’s take on Tesla framing driving is a chore, is my exact feeling on EV. When will we get a raw EV sports car.
The MGC ev in 2024 hopefully.
There are plenty already. what exactly are you after?
porsche cayman/boxster EV. Taycan is sporty and the steering is great, but it's not really all that it could be
Yeah, and how do those EV's sound going through a tunnel???
@@kebabgud an electric that drives like a Miata lol
As a car guy who also happens to be a die-hard Trekkie, Tyler had the best car this time around, and got the BEST prize in my opinion.
True
Ed was 100% on pretty much everything he said in this episode. The gas. The Tesla critique (driving as a chore). On point
Seeing Tyler light up at being told about being on the set of Star Trek made the whole series worth watching. Between that and the Zoolander scene, you nailed it with this one.
I love how Ed is a shitbox driver at heart but has expensive taste - “it does that sometimes”
The best part is that Ed proves that there's a shitbox for every price range! As someone who's got a fondness for shitboxes as well, having knowingly bought cars that I knew were previous project cars for body shop classes and the like, I truly appreciate Ed's love for finding cars that are junkyard bound and giving them some love.
@@Dreznin I appreciate him more with every Car Trek series 😊 that rancid 996 was just perfect
@@Dreznin noone has the contacts for this like Ed lol.
One of the few times I agree with Eds take on Tesla making driving a chore that needs to be automated. People who work everyday and have to drive through rush-hour traffic, might want this type of car. Now a Viper is a perfect weekend car.
I think it’s the best of both worlds. You can go fast and twisty and have it drive for you if your in traffic. Of course it doesn’t have the soul of the viper but it’s still a great car.
If you can afford to have a Tesla and also an enthusiast car as your second, its the perfect setup.
Ed pretty much wrapped up my feelings on EVs with a nice big bow..
I absolutely agree with Ed when he was driving the Tesla. And the behind the scenes was great, I'd love to see more of that.
The zoolander segment was one of the most outrageous pieces of content I've ever seen. Wonderful
Watching Ed jump around like a little kid while playing with the gas hose was my favorite moment on RUclips recently
One of the most entertaining things I've ever seen on car trek. So funny
Exactly
That segment was amazing
You don't get out much
This series is just as entertaining as the OG top gear. Edit: yeah I agree it's not as godly or as funny than the OG top gear but at least it's better than the new ones couldn't feel more stupid comparing this to the godly trio
Was thinking the same, dont forget The Grand Tour!
They're great but lets not get ahead of ourselves
C'mon bro definitely better than the new top gear but as good as the classic trio of Clarkson Hammond and May nah bro nah
Serious nostalgia
I wouldn’t call it the same. But to have it be close and done by RUclipsrs, that’s very inspiring.
Ed's wisdom about gas prices was pretty much correct...I'm in NC near where this was filmed and gas is $3.89 today at the station I know was well over $5 back in March.
Came here for this, thank you. I am in the UK, so was clueless.
Mine is 1.54/litre. Much better than a week ago. Still not great. We were around 2/litre for a bit.
4.45 by me. Ed was only 5¢ off. Ed weeeeens.
Over $5 for 87 at my local stations in southern California.
6/6,50 a gallon in the netherlands still, and thats alr 1,5/2 down from a few months ago
Man...I'm bummed. Too short. I need a season of you three being you! Can we get a network in here or what? Oh and yes I loved it!
On your knees much? 🤤💦
BTW, Ed is freaking HYSTERICAL during the Star Trek skit.... dude you should show that side of you way more on camera
The only thing wrong with this series was that it's too short 😭
Unlike Tavarish's jeans that look 5 inches too long.
and tyler is still part of it
7 and 8 were too short
@@mcf3778 why would Tyler not be apart of it? God you people can never just appreciate anything
Seriously, they’re producing less than half the content of previous years. Very disappointing they’ve decided to phone it in.
Tyler's excitement for the Star Trek Promo makes me happy. It shows that you can be a car enthusiast AND be a nerd at the same time.
I wonder if he was paying homage to Picard on purpose with that jacket
Because obsessing over the serial number of a shift lever boot isn't nerdy 😉
If you three's banter with each other isn't scripted or rehearsed, you guys are genuine, geniuses, and your friendships are priceless. Great season, guys.
The ending was hilarious! Great series as usual, you guys were meant to make content together!
I just wanted to thank everyone involved with this project, it has been a great fun to watch so far, almost as fun as old UK Top gear days
I support this. 👍
This series is fun but comparing it to UK Top Gear is an embarrassment to comparisons.
@@BourbonInhibitions maybe… maybe you are too harsh… who knows.
Great Captain Kirk!
As much as I love the entire series, the best part was everything after Tyler finding out his prize! 🤣
"This was a car show, once."
I'm disappointed in Ed and Freddie for not knowing a cultural touchstone and nerdriffic icon.
Ed talking to the Tesla, "I'm not going to hit it, you won't let me". Cracked me up. Good job fellas.
🤣
Makes me wonder how so many manage to wreck themselves as is.
@@ZerotheWanderer It's not going to stop him hitting anything, just yell at him while he does it.
@@ZerotheWanderer Even a tesla can't miss seeing a red viper. But their shitty camera only system has no problem missing white or grey things on white or grey roads. They are good at missing that.
I absolutely love Ed's disgust towards the Tesla
Bloopers are my favorite thing man, the ending bits were hilarious, great season as usual guys
Loved the series since day one. Y'all together gives off that BBC Top Gear vibe for sure. 100% automotive entertainment gold! Y'all are the best automotive content creators for sure. It'd be so awesome to meet you guys in the future keep up great work just keeps getting better!
Ed's July 2022 fuel price guess was right on!
Tyler gets a double win, setting Ed up to be the red shirt is the best!!
Thank you guys for this, truly special. I doubt any of you can claim to be YT Clarkson -- but youre all truly unique and amazing at this format
Honestly you guys are getting bloody close to the Top Gear specials and the Grand Tour…Friggen loving it!! All you need is the destinations, time to leave the USA for the next one I think. Keep up the good work and congratulations Tyler, looks like you had a great time with your prize.
i love it, i miss OG top gear and this is the next best thing.
"Whoever built that Viper enjoys driving more than they enjoy living" 🤣
Oh my god, Tyler's excitement is contagious. Congrats on the victory, dude.
I am so happy you guys made this series. It really fills that empty place in my heart for my other favorite car show
"Did you then tell her she was adopted?"
dang, that was savage! LOL
I can't believe how well Ed summed it all up - people who design electric cars really take driving as a chore and completely don't understand the rest of us who take it for a recreational activity, a therapy, a hobby, a passion and whatever else you can think of to describe it. It's NOT only about going fast, it's about the experience of being in control, of manually changing gears between corners, hearing the controlled explosions propelling you forward. It's not a chore, it's an exciting event especially on a gorgeous twisty road.
Ah, this season of car trek is pretty nice, I must say.
Thank you Freddy, Tyler, Ed, John, and Jared. For your tireless effort and devotion to bring us this highly entertaining content! Special thanks to both Auto Tempest and Ticket Clinic for helping to make this content possible. If gratitude has any type of meaning to you. Please know that you will always have mine!
You forgot David L.
As a fellow trekkie i can feel the excitement of Tyler claiming his prize. Great show!
Qa'pla!!!!
@@KH4444444444N GLORY TO YOU...*makes Gowron eyes..AND YOUR HOUSE!
I never thought that anyone would ever be able to replace the original BBC crew of top gear but after just few season of this little RUclips marketing experiment I can honestly say you guys are it. You got that something special in your banter that doesn’t seems forced and scripted no matter how much it is. It just works. Keep doing your thing and I hope this grows into something even bigger. Oh yeah and I’m pushing 50 so I’m not your target demo but it works for me as well.
Not going to lie, last car trek was good but I am enjoying this one much more! Keep up the great work, love you guys, God Bless!
Another seriously awesome episode. Great time of year to visit the 'Dragon if you can catch some dry weather. March is typically before all of the "dragon slayer" tourists show up, and the locals either use the pull offs or outrun you, lol.
I thought Ed's take on the Tesla viewing driving as a chore, is absolutely spot on! Again, gents, top-notch episode!
I still dream of that electric dream everyday😭
I was literally looking for this exact comment. If not, I was planning to say it.
I own a Model 3 RWD and this episode was accurate. Most of the time I agree with Tavarish’s take, but some days I feel like Ed. I still have a manual car for those days.
The problem with the TOTD is that there’s too many people on it and I’ve seen too many people do dumb things which is a bit scary. There are plenty of other roads in the area that are actually more fun and more safe IMHO.
like driving a Viper in the rain with only one hand on the wheel and a walkie talkie in the other?
You guys did it again! Rewatched many of previous CarTrek's, craving for more. I hope your budget will grow and grow till it reaches the same level as Top Gear at its height or Grand Tour where it will allow to travel across the world and explore strange new countries and boldly go where many have gone before but none like you.
Ed: "...we brought Tyler Hoover here to fix his." I laughed so hard my sides hurt.
Yay! 🔥 this series is hands down my most favorite thing to watch.
Damn, the melancholy really kicked in this season(absolutely love it) makes you ponder about thinks you never thought of before(or very little at least).I really wish cars will remain source's of joy and not only things that get you from point A to B.
Ed really nailed the design goal of some car companies vs Tesla.
My eyes were glued to this series like a toddler on coco melon, nice job to everyone included on the making of this season 👍
I relate to Ed way too much...
This series is so fun to watch i can literally binge the whole series in a night. Great job on the series guys.
Loving this series , top work as ever lads
its so close to the mid 2000's TopGear, I love it
@@CarsofGlasgow I was doing media photography at a track for the last episode they aired . Im trying to get the shot with a ruddy big tv camera over my shoulder . The Castle Combe episode filmed at a Japfest show. Id got the pass un aware Top Gear were filming that day
Alright... hear me out
Ed = Jeremy Clarkson
Hoovie = James May
Fred = Richard Hammond
@@chrisf2278 I enjoy it.
I can't tell you how much I love these shows. You three are absolutely the every man's top gear. I am shocked you have not been picked up for a primetime show on hulu. Please keep these up. They are always playing in my background, I also am sure to use Autotempest to shop for my cars...not a shameless plug, any company willing to front these shows is A+ in my book.
We appreciate your support!
This show makes me smile. Not much does that anymore so I'm thankful for you guys.
Looks like so much fun. Another great series and the chemistry between you all is improving. Great work and congratulations to you and the crew!
I am still trying to figure out which one of them is going to have a farm in the future. Imagine Ed's Farm and he only breeds Bulls to look like the Lamborghini emblem 😂
Ed was right on the gas prices comment! I actually paid 445 for premium yesterday
Ed nailed what a Tesla truly is
We need another series of Car Trek ASAP. Please please please.
Props to Tyler for saying that the big oil companies are gouging us.
Well, they know the end is coming. Grab as much as you can from this product.
Then they are expanding and investing in other energies. They'll do it to every time.
Though I think most people will try to get the most out of whatever product they're selling.
The people should move more quickly to something else if they want better/cheaper.
Ed, you encapsuled everything what is wrong with EVs. Thank you sir, I agree with you 1.000.000%
You know what Ed, I fully agree with you about the robot in your home and the tesla and I fully agree driving should be hands on and fun not controlled and be fully taken over by gadgets that stop you, even when you want to push it more
Ed was closest to current gas prices in my area, I saw $3.95 today, first it's dipped under $4 since this madness peaked. 8/5/22
Keep it up! Absolutely amazing series that can't get old. I like the TV style not over posting the content. That is key in my opinion. Everyone on RUclips want to pump out hundreds of videos not only for the views, but also because the audience gets bored so quick now with everything quite literally at our fingertips.
I'm with you Ed. I want NOTHING to do with a EV. I will never own one and think they're nothing but a toy.
Ed seems to have an addiction for cars that break down a lot.
He did work for a dealership, so he probably has some subconscious thing going on where he loves cars that break down a lot to make the dealership more money on repairs, lol.
My feelings exactly, Ed. I need to be engaged with my car, even if it's a daily and I'm getting groceries, not only just for the fun but it helps keep my brain focused on the road. Driving current EVs feel like driving an iPod, and that's just not what I'm looking for.
This series is starting to hit its stride. The writing is much improved. I'm looking forward to S9!
Damn great series of CarTrek. I absolutely use it after the first season of this great car series. Please keep them coming with all of you in them. The humor the great car knowledge and the tasks are absolutely perfect.
Great series!
I miss seeing what the Wizard finds when inspecting the Hoopties. Bring back the wizard!
What's odd is he's in the credits, but never made an appearance in this series.
Ed wins the gas guessing game but clearly has never sat in hours in traffic everyday going to and from work.
yeah he did.... he was spot on... proved even more tyler has to go
He worked at a dealership in Atlanta. I think he has sat in traffic before.
@@mcf3778 Wow. Your girlfriend must have a crush on Hoovie.
Ed is the modern day Jeremy Clarkson. He’s the American car-commentary goat.
LOVE the Outros and bloopers at the end not to mention Tylers childhood grim from ear to ear.
You guys need to do this a lot more often, and I think the 3 of you are just as good as top gear guys. Heck, you should do an episode with them! You should approach a tv company like discovery! LFG!
I think throttle house would be a good collaboration
Does anyone else think that Ed is the Jeremy Clarkson of the group, Hoovie is James May and Tavarish is Richard Hammond?
No.
Considering it was Tyler meeting The Orangutan that got him to skyrocket through the RUclips algorithm, I'd have to disagree with you.
Tyler - Jezza
Ed - Captain Slow (ironic with his Cannonball records 😋) but he loves living in the past, as he stated.
Freddy - Hamster (We need to ensure Tavarish stays away from dragsters, prototype hypercars and anything else he can wreck.)
Larry, Curley and Moe
I don't think any of them are able to be anywhere near the asshole Clarkson is. He was definitely my least favourite part of top gear when it was good. Car trek to me is better than top gear.
"did you tell her that she's adopted" damn ed 😂
Ed has always come across as a person that I tend to agree with, but never now more than ever.
He summed it up exactly. Teslas and most modern cars are meant for people who don’t like driving.
This is the BEST one yet! Loved that outro and bts footage!🤣🤣🤣👌🏾
“60% of men will suffer from some type of erectile dysfunction, but we’ve brought Tyler Hoover here to fix his”
Ed is easily one of the funniest most charming men i’ve ever seen. fucking love Mr. Bolian so god damn much. if he was single and into men i would fucking marry him in a heartbeat.
Do you have to swear ? This is a family show . . .
Ed nailed the gas price estimate
It is under $4 bucks by me
Closer to $5 near me, but it was plenty higher recently
@@bipbop3121 by me it is between $3.80 to $3.90 for regular gas
$3.95 near me.
Ed was right on point with the tesla
Did not realise it had been 2 years since cartrek man i miss these
Ed's monologue about the Tesla is exactly how I feel. I'm 31 without a single at fault accident on my record and numerous instances where outside influences could've gone bad. I enjoy driving, I enjoy the sounds my car makes when I give it input. I don't however enjoy technology taking that raw analogue feeling away from me in the name of "safety". Is there a market for it? Sure, new drivers that have more enthusiasm than skill.
Ed you were so wrong for Tyler's erectile spot 🤣🤣🤣
You guys are legendary. I’m with you Ed on Tesla
I completely agree with Ed on the EV.
Ed’s Tesla rant is the reason I watch this show and on point
Hey all, great series as always and thank you. A week before moving cross country my car’s engine blew and it wasn’t worth shipping. I found my new vehicle quite quickly using your sponsor AutoTempest! I didn’t know about them prior to watching your shows!
Thanks Again!!!
Awesome! Sorry about your engine, but glad we could help!
My sentiments line up exactly with Ed's. I completely and whole heatedly agree with what he said here. The electric car is and always will be an appliance, like a toaster or a microwave. It lacks an emotional connection that the petrol cars have been delivering for a century. The electric car will hopefully save petrol for people like Ed, and me, who like driving. Unfortunately we now need to fight government interference and mandates on the use of petrol powered cars. Thanks.
And I'm sure a century ago people said the same thing about moving from a horse to a petrol car.
Ed shares my exact sentiments towards EVs!
I would watch Ed do a large Tesla road trip 8:28
