PPE is definitely something I've not used enough. Thankfully I haven't had to have anything removed from my eyes yet and safety glasses have become standard ALMOST every time im working with metal the last few years. Still improving my employment of gloves, shields and glasses. Thanks for sharing👍🏻 sometimes a story like this will remind one to take the 5 seconds to use that safety equipment!

As we get older, more experienced. It almost seems like we get dumber. We know everything were supposed to do. But we get in a hurry and we don't do what we should. Good refresher. And eye doctors in MI. do use magnets on the eye. I'm old & your right, take care of your self.

The difference between getting an injury, or not often is thinking with emotions, or thinking logically.

My granddaughter’s other Pop Pop was using a grinder without safety glasses and the wheel shattered and he lost his right eye. So sad how an accident can change your life. Be safe my friend 🙏♥️

Hey Marty! Well that’s awful. Like I said, it only takes second to put on safety gear. Thanks for sharing another cautionary tail.

Glad you're ok Morgan. That kind of incident is never fun but of course you already know that. First time I had foreign object in the eye it was aluminum so a magnet wouldn't work and it took the older way more experienced eye doctor to remove it. sure was fun driving home 42 miles with one eye. Just glad it wasn't at night. You're right on target with a clear full face shield. We only have 2 eyes, gotta take care of them. Thanks for sharing.

I did the same thing years ago. A sliver of steel hit me in my bottom lip. I could feel it on the inside with my tongue. Blood everywhere.. I did have safety glasses on...

Wow, it gets you thinking that’s for sure. I had a similar experience with a chipping hammer. A piece of it broke off and flew into my finger . Now, I was welding so I had gloves on!! That piece of metal was traveling fast enough that it went through the welding glove and into my finger!! It hurt like crazy. Stay safe Morgan!!

Thanks for the video Morgan. I have had 4 fingers cut off, 3 were repaired. The last one in 2020 I lost the end of my right index finger on a Parker Majestic ID grinder. I waited too long to go to the ER because I am stubborn as well. Accidents happen so quickly so I try to keep my ears and eyes safe, but my old hands are a mess. :)
I never wear gloves around anything that rotates like a lathe spindle, but definitely when I have a hammer in my hand. Thanks for the video.

Hey Daryl, Ouch, yes things do happen fast. I’m glad the docs where able to save your fingers. I don’t know how many times I’ve walked up to a machine and just turned it on and started using it without doing a pre check. Sometimes we get lucky and only suffer a minor injury to wake us up to safety, and sometimes we don’t, and some literally never wake up. Stay safe brother

@@WildWestGarage I split them the same way with a zip wheel then I use a torch to hit the split, it either cracks or expands quicker and will come off. I also have an air hammer with a dull Chisel and it’ll crack it. I’ve never had the air hammer bits shatter the race or the bit. Seems like those bits are softer and don’t shatter. Just some ideas, hope it helps. Take care
