    Tip: You can also activate Proton for every Steam game via the settings. There you can also set a default Proton version for all games.
    If you have to use any other Proton version you can change the version of the individual game via the cog as shown in the video.

    Many games don't allow linux users ,because they say there are too many hackers, mod and client users causing problems. But the truth is, there are way more people using windows that are the problem. The reality...they just don't want to bother with those people. It's kind of depressing.

      @@WWIIREBELI think you don't have cs knowledge but anti cheat systems are made keeping a OS in mind and the network used is supported by those OS only that is why other network is invisible or doesn't even trigger those parameters so yeah they can't detect until I know the OS and Linux has many distros and enviorement to work on so not possible right now

    I'm not a fan of the adding a game to steam to use proton, I prefer the control you get using Lutris, Bottles, or Heroic and then just adding their shortcut to steam it's also less complex than this method. Lutris has scripts and lots of flexibility Steam doesn't offer, and Heroic supports gog and epic by default so you just need to sign in and set the runner, and both encourage adding the shortcut to steam.

    • @Vitis-n2v
      @Vitis-n2v 3 дня назад

      As far as i'm aware steam has only x86 client. 99.9% of games also have only x86 executables so no steam most likely doesn't run on arm but i haven't tried. There is a translation layer for x86 to arm but don't expect playable framerates since rpi doesn't have powerful hardware to begin with

      That’s exactly what I’m thinking about doing when I get a new Mini PC to replace my old one that had succumbed to motherboard failure and died after two years of usage. My old Mini PC was a Beelink SER4, which ran on an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U. My next Mini PC will be the barebones version of the Minisforum UM690 Slim Mini PC, which runs on an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX. I will be buying that particular Mini PC from Amazon for approximately $270 USD. As for the RAM, I’m going to start off with 16GB. I’ll eventually upgrade my RAM to 32GB at a later date. I already have two SSD’s lying around in my bedroom. I will be storing the OS itself on my primary 1TB SSD, and my Home directory on my secondary 2TB SSD.

      @@ZacharyNoah Thats good! CachyOS is pretty good with my current laptop altho I'm not fully going to move to Linux just yet as I still play some games which are unsupported by Linux (the developers have straight out denied support for it like Rainbow Six Siege) so currently its on my lappy which i use for lightweight coding. Im sure your Mini PC will run fine with CachyOS and as you know, Linux works great with AMD. 32GB of RAM is plentyful!
      I have read posts out there where people discourage storing your home directory on a secodary drive although you've got a SSD as both so you should be fine as cache files are mostly stored in the /home directory and if you have it on a separate HDD (like I have a SSD+HDD setup on my lappy) it tends to get slow but since you have both SSD, you should get away with storing your home in another SSD!

      @@f0rtyxo Thanks! When my Beelink SER4 Mini PC was on its last legs, I replaced my installation of Windows 11 with Linux Mint, since the former OS had stopped working with my internal Wi-Fi card. Also, I don’t have any modern games or apps that strictly require Windows 11.

      @@ZacharyNoah All the best with your endeavour! Windows 11 is trash anyway. I switched to Windows 10 since it offers a few lesser bloatware; I got the N version anyway. I will use it on my gaming PC till 2025 and switch to Linux hence why im practicing running it on my laptop so I get used to it. Yes, I'm a new Linux user.

    Way too much work to do for every single game. Especially when you play a lot of niche games, that don't start up on Linux at all. Windows plays every game right out of the box. I'm also trying to get away from game launchers like Steam entirely and launch all games from their own executable or desktop shortcut without needing to go online and log into an account. Had to crack most of my Steam games to work completely offline and I don't think that's gonna work in a Linux environment.

    And if you want, only if you want it still has Bottles and play on Linux as an add-on and if your computer is capable of multitasking you still have the RUN WINDOWS DOCKER CONTAINER project it should be good for something..... And all this I thank God who heard in prayer blz before me there was nothing and after me we have everything I just followed the step by step and died the story is just study, work and have a lot of fun and even the green Steam has arrived with everything.

    13:10 Linux, Android and ChromeOS, Flex complete and MacOS, none of them have an obligation to perform any Windows tasks, because they are different things and from the Windows world, what matters is only the games and these are already running perfectly by the pounds on Linux, exactly because of the work developed by valve with Proton in alliance with the great Wine 🍷, and that's all the story is over.
    Don't even invent that Linux is forced to run the Windows executables you can forget about it either I'm not obliged to share anything mine here are some vagabonds idle thief and unmasked and that's it you've seen some garbage like this here in another place another nation not because they are really shacks of disgrace and that's it, period, Linux has no obligation to perform Windows tasks.
