Love your channel so far! I’ve been binging all of them, and ended up finally taking the dive with getting a set of tools and a DS lite to work on! From the description it says it works all okay besides the D - pad , so hopefully it should be easy going? Either way, keep up the great work man!
Thankyou so much for the kind words Swanky, glad you've found the channel! 😁 I really hope your first fix is just a clean with some IPA or even just reseating the D Pad. Best of luck and please keep me updated on your journey!

Certainly looks water damaged. The water damage label should be white with pink dots, if it has gone completely pink, there's been liquid in there. Will be interesting to see if the new battery fixes it now you've cleaned it all up... Good luck mate 👍
The batteries are actually pretty expensive, cheapest is around £13 for one I trust. Really hope it works 😅😅 Thanks for joining the stream Steve and for giving some advice!

You can test if the battery is dead with the ds lite battery just pressing it to the pins of the device. The voltage should be the same. Short yellow light can mean dead or not present battery. But still, looks like liquid damage :/
I know the video is old and all that and you probably know right now but good quality power supplys when you short them they go into protection mode so that the power supply doesn't break down, you just unplug it and plug it back in and it probably works again
Hi pal, fixed a faulty dsi xl. All works however it is missing the Internal microphone. Do you know if the microphones from the smaller models fit and work in this or does this have it's own specific one due to the bigger size. Thanks.
Hey i have a question. Sorry if this is not related to problem in the video. I just bought nintendo dsi xl for a cheap price, but there's no battery. I have nintendo dsi battery. Can i put my dsi battery to my dsi xl? Since both are having the same voltage
Erscii that's a great question. I THINK the Nintendo DSi battery is a bit too small in size to fit in the XL. You should be able to pick up an XL battery for cheap enough to be safe is what I'd recommend 😊👍
Hey! I changed ja Microphone cable and after that the ds was working. But not the Micro. So i decide to open it again. I didnt Touch anything but after this my dsi isnt working anymore. So you have an Idea why? And sorry for my Bad Englisch 😅
I think it might be due to a loose ribbon cable somewhere Melena :) Slowly take it apart again and make sure everything is connected. Let me know how you get on! Your English is fine :)
Milk was spilled on my friends dsi XL and now won't charge and the battery depletes rapidly. I even got a new battery, yet the same issue . What should I do about this? It powers on, but battery discharges rapidly. When I plug it in, it doesn't charge. Just flash a orange light on, then off. Any help?
My DSi xl won't turn on from the battery or when it's plugged in, the orange light blinks when it's plugged. This is used SOLELY by an adult (that would be me, they say I'm an adult at almost 55) and is ALWAYS in a firm case 100% of the time.
This happens, i believe because my ds lite did this when there was no battery in, because the ds itself thinks theres no battery to charge. Like if it doesn't recognize, or recognizes that theres a charged battery, it will flash orange for a few seconds and go off
Idk where else to go so I'm going to ask here My dsxl will charge and when I turn it on the battery is fully charged but after a few minutes the battery drains and the lights starts to flash then it kicks off if I turn it back on the battery is full again then it does it that pattern again Is there anything I can do like a new battery or is it a lost cause
Accidentally shorted the positive a negative terminals together when trying to read the voltage because of the broken multimeter probe. It could just be a fuse blown in the charger transformer.
Pretty sure the charger broke because you shorted the pins with that dodgy multimeter wire. If you try to measure the voltage and your probes touch you create a short between the terminals and the charger delivers way more amps than it’s rated for, damaging the coil or something else in the charger transformer. The voltage meter itself is high resistance when used properly, keeping the current low. When measuring a battery you think is 3.7 volts, don’t use the 2 volt setting on your meter. Always choose higher than you expect to read. So in this case 20 volts.
Really interesting to know. Yeah we made the wires randomly after it snapped. Probably not the best idea! I have a new charger and battery on the way so we will see shortly 😁 Thanks for watching Stuart!
@@crazycatlady1292 since then, its gone from a solid light but never turning on to now one single light flash when first plugging it in like in the video. ill try a battery and if not ill just chuck it
Hello, I have a dsi xl 25th Anniversary. The problem is that the 2 screens remain white when I start up. Nevertheless I can calibrate the touch screen and the 2 screens work (but I can't do anything else). Do you know if the console is repairable? Which component(s) should be changed (wifi card, motherboard,...). Thank you ! m.ruclips.net/video/ZBPIgq654IA/видео.html#

My cousins dsi xl was also water damaged with a big battery leak, had similar problem but not severe
Fortunately it works great
Mine seemed like it stopped working until I realized I had to double press the on button. What a relief
Same. I accidentally dropped mine and tried yours and it was fine phew

This ain't gonna be an easy one, but with time and patience plus a sprinkle of luck it would be rewarding.

Try to jump start the battery. Put some 3,5 V directly on the battery from a powewr suply and hold it for 10-15 sec. It worked for me.

Did the F1 fuse blow? (The one near the charging port)? As in the last minute you seem to have tested but no continuity
I think the F1 fuse on the power board was fine to be honest. Will test again!

How do you get the rubber out without damaging them and scratching the back plate?

Completely up to you Micky! If you'd rather get it fixed for sure, take it to a repair shop :)
I’ve fixed over a dozen ds lites but the DSIs and their power issues are a nightmare.
Mine turns on and charges EXTREMELY slowly. Might be just the battery?

It might be blown fuses or the charging filter near the power socket
My DSi XL has a flashing orange light. Will not turn on. You know what it may be?
I have a different kind of DSi, but the exact same problem.
My dsi turns off after 1 second after turning it on. I get a green light then it immediately turns orange then it turns off. Is this a bad battery?

i hope that makes sense, busy trying to make it sound cool and make sense at the same time
though it also blinks orange if a battery in it is extremely flat
Mind elaborating on that? I kinda see what you mean but not exactly... Do you mean a bad battery?

Dead battery. That is all I think. And you should get rid of all the corrosion.
1:31 sec in before watching the full video im guessing loose ribbon cable main cause of that
I saw the stream too and seeing so much corrosion around u 11 chip I wonder if water damage got it down
Possibly, I need to do more research for sure :)
What would a blinking orange light while charging mean?
Mine is doing it because of water damage that happened almost 10 years ago.
