Dear Elizabeth: I want to be you (lol)! You never cease to amaze me with your designs. Your watercolor made BEAUTIFUL cards and tags. This looks like fun! I've got an idea forming in my mind's eye! YIKES!!! You're awesome! TFS your ideas. I'm always inspired by your tutorials! hugs, gr
Oh my, Gayle, you are soooo sweet...! I love feedback like this, and it makes me so happy to be able to inspire... Have a beautiful weekend with a lot of art making...love & hugs, Elisabeth
@@ElisabethSchwabe I have started to try this - but think i choose to lighter colours - but fun with the salt- going to re watch and see what I missed . thank you so much for this video-Happy christmas
Thank you so much. Rembrandt, van Gogh and Winsor & Newton has the color Madder Lake. Maybe others aswell.... The color Alizarin Crimson is equivalent and much easier to find amongst all brands, I think. Both these colors are deep, bright red and transparent, and lovely to mix with ultramarine like I do in the video. In my previous video, I used the red color on a really christmassy piece, not mixed with anything, and that bright red is beautiful I think.... Hope this helps.... hugs, Elisabeth
Ohh, thank you for your lovely comments, I so appretiate it! Very happy that I've inspired you to do this... Please, post on DelBello's fb page and tag me. I would just love to see it... love and hugs, Elisabeth
Thank you so much for your kind words, Beverly! So happy I inspire you to a point where you actually go buy the supplies! Oh wow, I love that! Much love Elisabeth
Thank you Elizabeth for the beautiful card toppers and tags. The colours complement each other so nicely and love the salt. My granulation Gansai Tambi water paints have just arrive too 🤗 thanks so much ❤
Thank you for the lovely comments... ohhh, those granulating colors are great! I've made 3 tutorials with them. If you'd like to have a look, go to DelBello's Playlist, click on my name and you'll get all my tutorials. The ones with the granulating colors are Hummingbird Jubilee "Flying Jewel", Summertime! "Bumblehum" and It's that time of the Year "Baubles".... In the Flying Jewel I've made a swatch and tried out the colors if you'd like to check it out.... see you next time and have fun with your new colors! Hugs, Elisabeth
Artist to artist - WELL DONE! Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. You have shown the gift of the artist community to share and bless others with our talents.
i really love your videos and unique ideas. This video is a great example of both. I would love to use this idea for Christmas cards and tags next year. Perhaps using the colors of the northern lights. I have never used stamps. Are they permanently attached to the transparent holder or can you swap them out? I am looking forward to your 2025 videos. Happy New Year!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! The clear rubber stamps are packed in their own packages. They have a "clingy" backside, that will cling to an acrylic block for the actual stamping. Hope this helps.... You can check out Del Bello's online shop and see the different stamps there... hugs, Elisabeth
Thanks a lot...so happy I inspire you to give it a go. I promise, it's easy, just don't "mud" the colors, and be sure your paper is wet enough... best of luck...hugs, Elisabeth
Thanks... noooo, this technique is really simple...it looks kinda like a mess before you cut the pieces out and add the stamping... I promise you, it's easy-peasy...love & hugs, Elisabeth
Elisabeth you are a magician. Your art is always so beautiful. I love the way the salt creates beautiful textures and as always the colours you have used are gorgeous. Thank you. Xx
Ohh thank you so much for those kind words! As always I get an idea in my messy brain, and try to execute... This one is all about the colors and the salt,- and it comes "alive" when I cut and then stamp, I think. Before the cutting and stamping its just a mess...hehe... much love, and have a fab day, Elisabeth
Oh wow - your video actually made me say ‘oh wow’ out loud - who knew what salt could do. Very keen now to explore your other videos and subscribe. Merry Christmas x
Thank you so much for the kind comments, so appretiate it! And thanks for subscribing. There are loads of videos on our channel, and you can check the Playlist if you want to look at a spesific designer's work... thank you again, and hope to see you next time... hugs, Elisabeth
Thank you very much.... well, this is a very easy, loose and random background, that comes to life with the salt and the stamping of the trees, I think.... take care, love Elisabeth
Thank you so much... yes, when you see it step by step, it isn't that complicated at all! One thing though, be sure your paper is wet enough! Hugs, Elisabeth
Thank you for your kind words... this could be a masterboard for cards/pieces with other colors and stamps aswell, so you could batchmake i.e. spring cards... I will make one for the spring later so you can see... have a lovely christmas and see you next year... hugs, Elisabeth
Thanks a lot... It is the salt that makes the white "blooms", and yes, I love that effect and use it a lot in my pieces... hope this helps... much love, Elisabeth
Watching you create this masterboard is mezmerizing. The cards and tags are all beautiful! You mentioned Winsor Newton watercolors.... could you please be more specifc? Did you use tubes or pans? Thank you!
Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind comments... I use both tubes and ½ pans, but on this particulare piece I used my tubes... hope this helps... hugs, Elisabeth
I really love your creations but I have a question please. I noticed you used ordinary table salt as opposed to coarse sea salt which is what I have used and seen used in the past. So I tried your project which gave 4 strips from one background piece. It wasn’t clear what you did to the salt (if anything) AFTER the work dries? Do we leave it in place or do we brush it off? The effect on this latest project is so stunning and essential to the success of the project that I hope you can advise me more in how to achieve the look of snowflakes as you did. On the project I tried, I left the salt in place but then I had great difficulty stamping over the top of it. You seem to stamp the fir trees AFTER the addition of the salt??? Looking forward to learning. Thank you and sorry to be SO long winded. 🤗
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback.... I do use coarse salt on some pieces when I want really big blooms, but usually I use ordinary table salt. I let the piece complety airdry so the salt can "do its thing" and then just brush it off, before stamping. I'm sorry this doesn't show properly on the video, and in future videos I'll be sure to show this better. Thank you for pointing it out to me so that I can make better videos... much love, Elisabeth
Amazing, Elisabeth, simply amazing. I want to try this. O.K. How much salt did you use to get all that white space? Is table salt better than Kosher salt? Thank you.
Hi there and thank you very much... I use ordinary tablesalt. The trick is to drizzle it on at the right moment when the paper is still glistening but not very wet. It's not a lot of salt... I've never used kosher salt, but seasalt and coarse salt. They give like bigger blooms, so for a snowy effect, I like this finer grained salt. If you look at my piece at 5:00,- the parts with the bigger blooms? This is where the paper was a tad bit wetter than where you can see each seperate bloom from one grain of salt... hope this makes sense...hugs, Elisabeth
Hi there Wendy. I added the gouahe at the very end, just tapping it on so it would look like falling snow. All the white blloms are made with salt.... hope this helps... love, Elisabeth
Hi there...yes, salt makes all those nice white "blooms" and different wetness of the paper gives different kind of "blooms". Just drizzle salt when paper is still wet, and let it air dry. You'll see the magic happening... hope this makes sense... hugs, Elisabeth
My comment disappeared! 😲 Just in case, I'd like to ask why my adding salt doesn't result in white spots (which look like little flowers or snow on yours?) I really love your videos, and this one looks so easy and just what I need to try for tags. Thank you for any advice.
Hello there.... If your salt doesn't result in anything, it is because the paper is to dry. If you like I would give you a little tip...? Different paper, colors and wetness of paper gives different outcome with the salt. Do a little swatch with the paper you use, and wet maybe 3 small squares with water, then add some color. Add some salt to the first squar, wait for 1/2 a minute, then the next square, wait another 1/2 minute and then the last square. Let it all airdry naturally, and you'll see the salt starts to absorb the color and makes the blooms... 3 different ways... so now you'll get a better "feel" when to add the salt to get the blooms like you want them to. The drier the paper is, the smaller the blooms get... I do hope this helps...please, if you wonder about anything, pm me on messenger, and I'll answer you as quickly as I can.... love and hugs, Elisabeth
@@ElisabethSchwabe Thank you so very much. I thought my paper seemed quite wet, but I obviously need to experiment further as you've advised. So much appreciated--I can't even begin to tell you!
