You're so right and so wrong at the same time. It all depends on what the practice of polygamy is connected to. If its cultural or if it's religious it's not as simple as it may seem and it may be an expectation for a woman to be just fine with it which can make it feel forced even if in actuality she has a choice... It's like anything else where perception is reality.

Coming from a 19 year old Nigerian, I see nothing wrong with a man marrying two or more wives, as long has all wives agree on the union and he is financially stable enough to live comfortable with them. Every woman has the right to choice whether she wants the be apart of the polygamous relationship or not. Treat your wives like queens with freedom and empower them (like them owning their own business and henceforth). Equality must reign between the man and his wives. That results in a happy life. When a monogamous marriage faults, nobody blames the institution of monogamy itself, but the people in the marriage. Polygamy is not the problem, we need more responsible men and women that are willingly and that equates to a happy union.
Just saying that polygamy is wrong because a man is allowed and a woman isn't, doesn't make it a valid point. Just imagine women, having 10 different husbands, servicing them, cooking (or is that sexist?), eventually a pregnancy will come and nobody would know who the father is. Imagine getting a DNA test on ten different men every time the woman is pregnant. It brings much of confusion. Polygyny, however, can be much more organized and more natural. Just because a woman can't do what the man does, doesn't means its a way of oppressing or dehumanizing her. Lastly, a man with one wife or multiple wives are both justified, as long as there is 100 % HAPPINESS!!

If a man can't restrict his sex drive with just one woman, he can't restrict it with 5 women. Just because he has five wives, doesn't mean he will be disciplined enough when the inevitable happens and he sees yet another woman he is attracted to. If she lets him in, he will have sex with her too. He won't necessarily wait through the courting and marriage process before he taps that. Things like this are dangerous in our society with all these sexually transmitted infections. If he is able to direct his masculine energy only to those women he has courted and declared wives, that would be one thing. But there will always be attractive women outside of the union and if he can't control himself with one woman, he won't be able to control himself with multiple women, and you have the problem of multiple women that he is sleeping with both inside and outside the marriage. That is dangerous, unfair, and unequal. You seem intelligent, so I'm surprised you didn't think about this.

Just like any relationship, you must be honest so when it comes to polygamy, you must allow everyone the choice to come into it rather than being deceptive and reeling people in. If children are involved, in order to unite them you must be honest with everyone to unite the wives first. The women are bitter because they have adapted the bad name of polygamy; the polyamorous relationship they were brought into don't fulfill them and they are scared to speak up to the men in their lives. People are vindictive when they are silenced, it's not just women. This is why they are targeting the man on national television, the spotlight gives them power but when they are behind closed walls, they are mistreated.

I agree as soon as he said you shouldn’t be a straight forward I became disinterested, the true meaning of what he’ said is to not divulge information about the dynamics of the relationships that you have with one of the wives to any of the wives. That could make the polygamyist marriage chaotic, a polygamist marriage must involve a high level of individuality amongst the wives on a personal level, they’re still sister wives in terms of they’re bond with eachother.

I recently got into a polygamist marriage. I am definitely not weak it is a life I chose that is best for me. Did I have an option of being in a monogamous marriage? Yes! Many times but I knew that was something I did not want. When God lead me to my husband and he told me of his 1st wife I knew in my heart that was what I needed. I am a strong confident black woman who unapologetically loves her husband and respects his first wife.

@@ThurstMETV respectfully, I don’t think that’s correct. In monogamy it’s very difficult for the husband to meet the emotional, romantic, and nurturing needs of his wife. Imagine how much more difficult it would be for him to do that for multiple wives. So each wife feels lonely and she might need to discuss problems with the children but he’s off with other wives and she has to wait and wait for discussion and figuring out what to do. Then there’s the terrible sorrow of watching him be all excited and lovey-dovey with a new wife while he’s nothing like that with her any more. She hears them in bed together at night-hugging, kissing, touching, moaning, and oh my gosh...she’s dying inside. The hurt is unbearable. He’s never alone. His needs are met continuously but each wife must do without a great percentage of the time. The hurt turns to depression and then anger and then bitterness. He’s so happy and she’s so sad. He says men need variety and that they lose interest in the same woman in bed all the time. Wives are bored too, but are considered sluts if they say anything. Men use polygamy to justify adultery. Women just have to go along or get out. It’s a system that favors men and hurts women. It only works in marriages that are business arrangements and have no love. That’s so sad. If my sweet and wonderful husband lay with another woman (or several women), I could never take him into my body again. He’s no longer pure, just as he would think I’m impure if I lay with other men.

Under Western culture, polygamy does not survive. However under the Eastern culture, it has to be the culture that establishes polygamy as the cultural norm. women are natural social creatures, so if they see more women being for polygamy, they will feel less awkward about it. All that is wrong in a polygamous home does happen in monogamous home .There is jealousy ,there affection for one child than the other, there is time rationing with the wife or the husband because sometime or most time women need space for themselves.In a monogamous home a woman would say to her husband when he is wanting that" she not in the mood", " is it food?!" , ''' is it every time ?!'".That is shows women by nature need space and instead of the husband being promiscuous or fulfilling his desire with a prostitute he should rather result to polygamy. The lady with the glasses is speaking from a woman's point of view in regards to who can love who and how. It is better if a woman have work and earn her own money rather than polygamist, and if it the marriage does'nt work then they can have a divorce and have another wife or hushand. Polygamy is so bad in general and bad for your health and much worse than monogamy.
Because:
Sure you GIVE good: Love for all, freedom, no jealousy (umm right), no clingyness, stuff like that.
But you also GIVE terrible: not ever giving full attention to anyone, making no one feel special, making a lover wait around while your in another location with another lover, etc etc. And that's just not good enough. Not loving / caring enough. Even if your lovers say it's fine its not fine, and you should actually want to give "best" to someone you love and not ever hurt them in any way even in a small way, not half good treatment, so. (Basically you're a worse lover than what a monogamist lover who willingly provides great treatment.)
How can you do that to your lover? It's bordering cruelty. Just No.

Joseph and his wife in egyot seemed to have a good marriage, the other Mary and Joseph had a good marriage, Noah had one wife, there were many married men with families with Jesus. The law said for men not to multiply their woman to themselves, the new testament it is very clear that one wife is the best.

Some thing I’ve noticed about the women that I’ve seen in polygynous relationships compared to women in monogamous relationships are that they are so much more mature. Women and polygyny are so much more mature and secure in them selves. They know their worth and because of their co wives they have extra time to them selves to be “independent strong women”. You are not forced into polygyny that is a choice that you make. I’ve noticed that women who engage in such lifestyles are just better human beings overall. It takes strength, and deep security in yourself, and a desire to share a good thing. Plenty of women who actually do what they need to do as a woman get very invested into their responsibilities and don’t have a chance to be themselves or do what they want to do. But with polygyny they have more time to themselves. That allows you to build a career have a personal life and all that. It comfortably allows for you to live a more modern life style while being a great parent. In a monogamous relationship, it’s either you have to be a 100% mom or your kids are the ones that I have to deal with the 50-50. They get 50% of mom and the other 50% goes to work. You can’t be the best mom you can be a that way. But now let’s say your husband has two wives, now while 50% of you is at work your co-wife’s 50% is with the kids and while you’re at 50% with the kids she’ll be at her 50% at work so together the kids get 100% of a mother yet each of you still get to invest plenty of time to work and having you time. By the end of the day it’s a life style for the elite ppl. Both men and women cuz it asks for a lot. Only the best can take part.
