I don't think a canon gay relationship compares to one that's alluded to but constantly avoided by the publisher. The Luz and Amity have kissed on screen before and the first non-binary character of Disney has recently been introduced. I doubt that Disney, even if they wanted to, could hide to fact that that show is unabashedly gay.

It is NOT squirrelflight's place to police whether or not Brambleclaw had a relationship with his brother. And it wasn't Brambleclaw's place to say that she was only acting that way because Hawkfrost was related to Tigerstar. in my opinion, squirrelflight didn't know enough about Hawkfrost to say 'oh, well he's a bad cat, you should stay away from him', because that's an opinion she had and readers agreed with because the reader KNEW things she didn't. She only had that opinion because she didn't like how vocal and aggressive he was with the things he thought and believed in. *Shrug* They had a better relationship in Power of Three before the entire reveal. and I am one of the people who believe Squirrelflight was in the wrong there. She should have 100 percent told Brambleclaw the truth that those weren't his kittens. And I'm sure if she had namedropped that Yellowfang had told her to take them in, he would have gone with it because he KNEW yellowfang. If squirrelflight had said Yellowfang told her, maybe described what she looked like, I think he would have done it and there wouldn't have been all that drama. Added to the fact that Crowfeather was his friend, even if they squabbled over stupid crap, and I don't think Brambleclaw would have faltered at raising his friend's children. Both of them are toxic tbh, and probably should not have gotten back together. Or rather, they should have had a much longer discussion about why both sides were wrong and work on understanding how each other felt about it before trying again. As for the drama with Bramblestar not trusting Squirrelflight on the Sisters. The Sisters were strangers, and honestly? i don't blame the leaders who not trusting them because every time a stranger comes around it brings trouble. Scourge, Sol, Darktail and his Kin.

Also, can we acknowledge how Bramble used his power in TNP to punish Squirrel just because he was pissed that she was considering Ash, which was the first hint of him using emotional abuse against her. Po3 they were certainly better, but there were still instances of Bramble using his power to keep Squirrel quiet. Remember when he literally used threatening stares and held his tail around her throat when she tried to defend him against Ashfur’s criticisms. You can say he was trying to keep peace, but it’s still him using threatening means to keep her under his control. Then we have OOTS. Now should Squirrel have told Bramble about the kits, probably. But here’s the thing, you can’t tell me she didn’t have a reason to keep it secret. At the end of the day, she was defending the lives of the kits as well as her sisters reputation as a medicine cat. She had good reason to think they could end up exiled or dead if any cat found out, that includes Bramble who she believed was a true loyal TC deputy (even though he did consider killing his leader for a moment, but I digress). In the end Squirrel made those mistakes out of love for her family rather than a conscious desire to hurt Bramble. Unlike him who used all of his powers to hurt Squirrel when he found out the truth. He emotionally tormented her every chance he could out of spite, when he also had the power to talk with her about and and try to understand, which we know is what Squirrel wanted to do in the first place. Both made mistakes, but Squirrel did hers to protect cats, while Bramble made his in a conscious effort to hurt Squirrel. That’s what makes him worst to me. As for Squirrelflight’s Hope… are you serious? I get not trusting strangers, but the threatening his own medicine cat (who is his mate’s sister), using Squirrel’s insecurities as about kits and her age (which he was fully aware of) as a means to humiliate her into submission, the stripping of all her powers so he could assume total control over the situation forcefully. There’s being a strong leader, but then there’s being a tyrant. I mean if Onestar did this stuff (and he would) people would be calling for his head, but because it’s Bramble against Squirrel they just let it slide. Also that way he manipulated her into thinking the situation was both of their faults in the end, hmm who ended up right about the whole situation (like she is every single time) again? Squirrel. Who made the situation worse to the point that cats ended up getting killed? Bramble. It’s not really hard to see who’s worse. Oh let’s not also forget that Bramble emotionally cheated on Squirrel with Jessy in Bramblestar’s Storm. You know what, I wish they had broken up because this guy is pure Toxicity. I’m sorry, but there’s no way around it. Whether you believe he had a reason or not, Brambles actions fall under the definitions of emotional and verbal abuse. They just do. It’s happened time and time again. Even Kate acknowledged she believed his behaviour felt like abuse in SH (and she hates Squirrel) and only offered the “stressed” excuse as a desperate means of keeping the writers reputations in tact.
