sir my school teacher told me that if methyl group is at ortho position in benzanoic acid then it will give more inductive effect ( +) and it will reduce acidity of it. can you explain it??

It will donate electrons and hence O-H bond in benzoic acid will become stronger and hence acidity decreases ..... I think

It is an electron donating group which donates electron hence increases the electron density on oxygen which increases the bond length of OH bond hence acidity increases.
