WOW, I looove this already! I am a therapist who recently started a private telehealth practice on the side and also do youtube and podcasting/blogging. I am not allowed to file an LLC as a therapist and have not for my RUclips or Blog because it has not made me any money yet. I need to do a P&L for last year for this year's tax for my CPA. I was fretting over which software to use, but I think I will just start with your spreadsheet for now. thank you!

Great Information. I do have a question for you. If I start with a spread sheet and come to a point that I want to use an application like QuickBooks would it be possible/easy to transfer the data from the spread sheet to QuickBooks?
You wouldn't need to transfer it - you just choose the date that you are starting your QB file and as of that date maintain your records there. I'm doing a course for Xero shortly - I rarely recommend quickbooks... but definitely don't plan to do QB yourself - like I said in the video, Intuit is well aware their marketing is missleading - it's not for DIY!
you then enter your beginning balances as of that date... but otherwise, yes, you certainly can move to software later on and that may make sense in many circumstances as well as personal preference.

I have a bunch of bookkeepers that interested -- but, this course is really geared toward small business owners doing it themselves. While it depends what your expertise is, I teach college quickbooks and I would like to teach a course on a deeper level for bookkeepers (than this course for business owners)... I'm going to be emailing my list asking to schedule appointments to talk with bookkeepers/tax pros about what type of course they are really wanting (finding out more about why you are interested in the spreadsheet course - you're not alone!)... so I'd love to have a quick chat with you then Rickey. I'm signed up!!! My family & my CPA (of 20+ years) was in a fatal collision in 2018 and we've gone through multiple "potential" replacement CPA's but it seems like they all have time for the consultation, but after they gain access to our QuickBooks we get excuses and dismal results. One merged my LLC (s-corp) annual income with my Mom's sole proprietor income causing her to owe a lot of money and the newest CPA says "it will cost more for me to prepare an amended return than for you to just pay that amount."
...and Im like, "Whaaaaat? So, am I supposed to also file those same numbers through my LLC or just pretend that my company 'processed paymemts' but also took a year off?" Needless to say... I am going to learn to do more (and possibly all) of the work myself.
I am a consultant and plan on eventually starting up other businesses down the line that I know fit very well within the scope of a lot of your other content. Do you have content designed to help consultants?

The spreadsheet is the worst thing you can do. Start clean, from day one. Don't use files or spreadsheets here and there. Track them yes. But online, using any of the tools. Even if you delegate, emails here emails there, even if you delegate use an online solution, in which you can see how is it going? Start well from day one. if needed take a course. Use her services to learn accounting basics but don't use spreadsheets to manage your business data.
