AliExpress has a bit of a reputation for cheap rubbish, but I've been buying virtually all my bike parts from it since around 2018. I must have bought 1000’s of things related to road bikes and cycling over the years, and while some of them have been pretty awful (and in some cases quite dangerous), there are a lot of hidden gems too.
In this episode I'll cover 5 of those, and you can find my affiliate links to everything talked about below.

@@eLpELoNdeJaPoN 100% agree .. Would love to know including what mount as I commented below 👍
Appreciate that fella!
Hey fellas any idea how/if it works with Garmin's Varia radar?
Does it support Varia radar ?
I've been riding RideNow TPU tube since Sept last year. Advantages: *much* lighter than butyl tubes, spares take up *much* less space, better ride feel, lower rolling resistance, high contrast colour makes it easy to see if a tube is being pinched. Disadvantages: harder to patch (tiny holes are difficult to see), have to be careful not to over inflate when not in a tire. Some find them more difficult to handle, I find they're just different than butyl and need to handled accordingly. Not more difficult, just different. For me, they're a winner.
I successfully patched one today using the RideNow kit. It's a bit trickier than patching butyl though. Being less bulky, they're easier to insert in the tire, but you have to be very careful not to punch them. Has anyone inflated one with CO2? I'd be concerned about freeze/rupture. They make such great compact spares that I'm eventually going to try using an inflator myself.
@@mellis4726 I had trouble patching according to the package directions. I've patched a couple of holes by applying glue around the hole letting it dry for a few seconds then placing the patch on, then putting wood block on it and leaving it for a couple of hours.
At home I use a floor pump. When I get a flat on the road I use co2 inflater and inflate in stages to keep the valve and tube from freezing. Works for me.
But 5bar only....🤷♂️🤷♂️
YBN chains are independently tested to be the most power efficient chains on the market. They literally spank everything if you're into saving Watts. I wax mine for my TT bike.
Source please?
Do they work on sram?

Been watching your videos since forever, really happy to see you've gone full time! You make such good content for this niche of the cycling community, wish you all the best! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks idosu, thats super kind, what an awesome comment!!! I really hope i can make it work full time, I'm going to give myself a year, and see how i end up!
I'd love to see more of these. I like finding good value deals especially on cycling equipment. And congrats on your first full-time RUclips video!
One of my favorite RUclips channels! Congrats on making it full time!
Thanks Seth! I've gone full time, not sure I've 'made it' yet tho 😂 I'm going to give myself a year, give it welly, and see what I can do!
Got the IGS630 and I love how easy it is to set up your main screen display by playing with the app. This features makes my old Garmin 530 look primitive in comparison, plus it connects to GPS way quicker and the buttons on this one wouldn't drop off like what happened to the 530. Given that the 540 etc is almost double the price of this, getting the IGS630 is a no-brainer.
Cheers for the comment happy! Yeah I'm honestly really impressed with it, glad to see I'm not the only one!
Don't suppose you would know if the original Varia radar unit would work with it? My Edge 1000 is getting a bit long in the tooth now.
I've had igpsort computers before, 618 lasted 3 years until the USB charge port failed. Battery life was awful but I've heard that the newer models have boosted battery life dramatically.
Can the IGS630 show map area and navigation path are the same time?
Can it load open street map?
@@glennoc8585 sorry to hear that, i am iGPSPORT product manager, how long it can last after each fully charge for your 618?
Love your channel, I'm just curious as to how your RUclips channel name came to be. Keep up the great work and congrats on becoming a FT RUclipsr!
If you look closely all of Lukes bikes actually have an exhaust pipe on the left side
You know what, I thought this comment was a joke. But I swear I've seen this guy 'cycling' around. Fumes coming outta that thing were mad.
I've been dreaming of a bike computer just like that all winter. Now I'll be back outside with the nice weather, I'll keep an eye out for your code and maybe a dedicated video cover all the features! 🥖🥖🥖
I've received many shipments of Ridenow tubes, It seems like they're now shipping with glueless patches. I agree, so much easier to use and seal way better than the pink patches
Ohh most definitely, that little patch kit i bought was a COMPLETE waste of time!
Luke I've been watching you since almost the beginning and wanted to say congratulations on going full time! I can't wait to see more content! I'd been out of cycling for a while but think I'm finally going to build a bike from the ground up, your videos are so positive and helpful!
Luke makes another incredibly informative AND entertaining video. I never miss one of them. I would like to see Luke doing a ride or two one of these days. I really enjoy the reviews but the occasional touristy ride is something I watch on other cycling channels.
Yeah I'd like to see it as well. I love seeing the scenery of people on bike rides
I wouldn't even know where to start with a cycle vlog style video... In order to succeeed I must study the ways of Francis Cade!
@@TraceVelo I subscribe to him as well lol
@@TraceVeloYou could look at the Bicycle Diaries of Leonard Lee. As an ex cameraman he does a good vid. Or, Always Another Adventure. Great for a well edited and snappy vlog.
Would be great to see @Tracevelo do some cycling challenges on the ali express bikes. There's a 150 mile ride from Newbury coming up in the summer so not too far away. Or I'd love to see an Chinese titanium bike build.
Good stuff, please keep em coming Luke. Surely helps to sort the crap from the decent products.
Awesome, thanks René!!! I'm definitely going to make this a series moving forward!!! Please accept this baguette as a sign of my gratitude🥖
Luke, best of luck going full RUclips! Your honest reviews of Chinese products gave me to confidents to purchase the Sensah G12 1x12 groupo for my gravel bike, which has been working wonderfully so far. I also have been running the Risk pedal extenders on my gravel bike for the last several years and at 185cm and 110kg, I think I have stress tested them enough to give anyone confidence to use them. 🥖🥖🥖 Keep up the great work.
Thanks Colin!!! Yeah i really hope i can make it work full time, time will tell i guess! But that's awesome, i'm glad you are happy with the Sensah kit! Thanks for the comment 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖
Similar weight and size to yourself Colin, so encouraged to give the extenders a go. Just one thing, and I can’t find it on their website, does an 8mm Allen key work through the extender? I’ve always had to drill out steel extenders and it would be great not to have to.
What advantage does the pedal extenders gives you? Interesting item, but I would like to find out more before buy.

Just speculating, but rider preference. Lance had the peddle mfg the thru-bolt a 1/2 inch longer than normal for him.

Chapeau Luke! You got this! Congrats on ditching the day job, love your vids! As a former bike tech (20+ years) I've always been wary of "Cheap Chinese Carbon" but after your in depth vids I've got myself wheels and a carbon aero one piece bar-stem and ride them with confidence. My bike feels brand new! And for a few thousand less than western brands weee!

My first bike computer for recording my rides was a TomTom sports watch back in 2018. The TomTom could connect with HR/Speed/Cadence sensors and via GPS record the route. It had a probleme keeping contact with the cadence sensor so a year later (2019) I bought the iGS50E which was then the second best from iGSport which also worked great. The reason I went for iGSport was because Garmin and the like were to expensive. In 2022 iGSport then brought out the iGS620 which I then bought because of the Navi and as I'm a 71 year old pensioner and time on my hands I can upload a lot of routes to ride.
thanks for supporting iGPSPORT!
Awesome video, good luck on making it full time! All the best!
Interesting finds as always. Though since I often right through the night in mixed lighting conditions I find that my Magicshine RN3000 does it really well for me. At 700 lumens, the second level setting I've never run out of battery while out riding. It has a promised runtime of about 11 hours at that mode after all. It has the capability to charge your devices on the go as well in case of an emergency, caveat is though, you need a type c to whatever your device is kind of cable to use it. I had to get a type c to USB-A cable to accommodate all my charging needs. If you don't mind the clutter you can charge it while your phone is on the bike i.g. a quadlock mount for example and literally charge it on the go. For the Cyclocomputer though, my money's on Trimm One Lite still. For just a little bit more than the IGS630 you get a head unit that includes a solar charger and a speed sensor powered by the sun as well, for virtually infinite battery life. It has great mapping features and the route can be edited through the app and has some degree of re-routing as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it as well, in case you're interested to get one.
Great video as always... But going full time on YT!? That's *fantastic* news, you are the one content creator I really look forward to each new video from. I'm chuffed for you and (selfishly) for myself as there will be more vids to watch.👍😁

Stumbled into your channel months ago and love the content. Congrats on having the courage to fully commit.
Thanks Giles! Yeah im hoenstly a bit petrified, but hopefully i can make it work. Im going to give myself a year, and see what happens!
@TraceVelo thanks for making these videos since i'm quiet skeptikal to most of the things aliexpress sells and it feels really good knowing that someone has tried them and makes a video about it whit that i whant to say thanks again and keep up the good work.
Hi Luke, thanks for another stellar production worthy of the baguette Baftas! 🥖🥖🥖🥖. I started using those vittoria latex tubes you have, lovely supple ride but by their very nature lose air quite rapidly. I swopped over to the Ridenow tpu tubes, immediate economical reduction in weight and air retention relatively good! I wasn't quite sure what to do with those little rubber rings they provide?? Seal the valve hole on the outside, or to be used on the inside the tyre carcass?? Keep up the great work and enthusiasm, your hard work will be rewarded and hope that you'll start to get more sponsorship as well as more subscribers!! Looking forward to similar presentations going forward as well as your usual excellent content! Best mate
Luke....your sense of comedy just gets me. I laughed way too much at the toysrus 90's joke than any human should.

Always appreciate your content.. what you do for the community is irreplaceable. Thank you sir!
Thanks for taking us to Bicycle's 'R Us, Bri'ish bike dad 😂 That's cool to hear you had good experiences with TPU tubes, I've been wanting to try them for the weight and space savings.
Great vid as always. I'll def be checking into these for my own ride. I'm looking at adding a few inner tubes and those Siroko kits look excellent. 🥖🥖🥖
+1 for the YBN chain recommendation. With counterfeit Shimano/SRAM/KMC chains being so common these days, I switched to YBN because they are a known quantity and don't have counterfeits. Interestingly, I've got more miles out of my YBN's than any other chain brand except Campy. Their SLA models are particularly long wearing.
What do you mean they are a known quantity so don't have counterfeits?
Love the format ❤ can't wait to test the lamp. I have a video idea 💡 since you talked about all the mounting points on your Gravel Build. How about a video of some cheap bags and mounting options for Drybags. The 5L Canyon DryBags are great value, but i can't find a good way to place them aerodynamically.
I've been using TPU tubes for some time and they are fantastic. Their benefit is mainly from rolling resistance however they do make the bike feel more agile and nimble and that's due to weight difference. Given all the titanium/carbon upgrades you can make tpu innertubes shouuld be the first thing to do given cost per gram saved. In on my gravel e-bike I shaved off 240g just by replacing innertubes. And it may be placebo but they seem to take a bit of an edge from road chatter.
🥖 🥖 🥖 Have you checked out the TOWILD lights? I picked up one because of the remote. Absolutely love it! In a pinch, it will work as a backup charger. I have splurged for the re-usable twist on cable ends, found them easier than the crimp style.
🥖🥖 Awesome content as always Luke. Ordering some inner tubes as we speak. A couple of years ago you inspired me to build my own bike. I got a velobuild frame and built it up with shimano 105. I’ve since rebuilt my second bike (Scott CR1) with Sensah team pro and 105. Both bikes with Toseek handlebars and stems. Havent had any issues thus far. Thanks for the effort you put into this!
As a regular commuter, none of these products seem necessary for me. But the inner tube and chain will come in handy when things inevitably go south.
That said, love the style, attitude and your charisma is overflowing.
I'm sure I'd watch you talk about the intricacies of individual corn flake geometies from a series of brands of brekfast cereals.
The studio levels of editing with a few good jokes thrown in there for spice make for wonderful viewing.
Keep up the good work, you wonderful man, you!
Aw thanks Neino, what an awesome comment! I honestly put my all into these videos, so glad you enjoy them! Have some baguettes on the house 🥖 🥖🥖🥖 🥖🥖🥖 🥖🥖🥖 🥖🥖
Love the content, keep it coming, I’d like to see more mixing of drive train elements to increase gear range. Good luck and success as a full timer! 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖
I love seeing the items you get from Ali Express, and you and your channel basically inspired me to build my own bike from scratch. Bought most things from Ali Express, frame and fork and bars from Carbonda. Works pretty well, I put a Sensah Empire Pro on it. Thinking of changing to Ltwoo over the next winter for the hydraulic, and maybe electronic if available in a price I want to pay!
Not always the prettiest in the world, my bars could use a rewrap or three, but I'm super happy and super proud of it. And you were also great and responsive to email questions. So best of luck on the channel, and keep the videos coming! (PS, added the toe covers and bike light to my cart already!)
One more endorsement for Carbonda. Excellent quality at a fair price. (1056 frame & fork)
Amazing, thanks Peter!! Yeah I'm hopefully going to get my hands on the electronic L-Twoo groupo in the near future, so stay tuned for that! What brake setup are you running with the Empire Pro?
@@TraceVelo I have some iiipro calipers on there that the frame maker through in.
Only really ridden the bike 5km yet, lol. Roads are just getting rid of winter snow remnants here. And I almost don't want to get it dirty. I have a canyon as my dally ride.
@@PeterSmithCA AHH gotcha! Yeah I need to try out some of those iipro calipers tbh, they're the ones that looks like the Juintech F1's right?
@@TraceVelo similar I guess, though I've only seen the juin tech in pictures. I enquired about them with the frame maker and they tried them but they didn't fit. That said, I've learned a lot more now, and I think they would with an adapter with 160 mm discs vs the 140 I have now.
They, the iiipro seemed to work well on my short ride, I live on a steep hill and had no trouble slowing and stopping with them.
Ive been spending too much time on vanity items lol. I've done a lot of orange trim things, like to get some rotors with orange centers and some orange calipers. My orange through axels just arrived, but I think the front is 2mm too long. Might try to find a place to get it cut
I'd love to see a comparison of the RideNow vs Tubolito. I've been recommending the Tubolitos for both road and gravel riders as their backup and if there is a cheaper alternative, that would be great. As for latex, I used to ride latex back in the day. Much better road feel than butyl, but you definitely had to top off your tire every morning.
I have Tubolito in the front and RideNow in the back. Buy the RideNow and save yourself money they are just as good. The ridenow cap even is nicer
I found that using a hair dryer on the RideNow patches with the rubber cement on both the cleaned tube area and the patch that the heat seals it forever. Congratulations on going full time with the channel Luke!!
Nice channel and content, giving me more confident and information when purchasing china bicycle part. Wishing you have a fruitful and wonderful journey of being full time youtuber
Awesome video Luke - I feel like whenever you make a video on affordable bits like this, there's a high chance I'll be buying them at some point. One word of caution on the Ridenow tubes: They may not be suitable for long hot descents on rim brakes, as I had a blowout here in Thailand doing just that. Though it was on thin Kinlin rims and at around 35°C air temp.
One final note, I miss the funny variations on how you used to say your name, as always, is Luke - wonder if anyone else misses this??!
Were you flying down Doi Suthep when you had the blowout?😆
Haha where in Thailand are you? CM here!
I have the Bryton 750 (liked it because it still had buttons even with the touchscreen) and it's "rerouting" was similar for a long time depending on how you chose your route. They've made some improvements over time but its still not quite what i was hoping for when i bought it, and I've even lost features (haven't received text/call notifications for nearly a year, even with resets/app permissions/uninstall-reinstalls). Was looking at IGPSport offerings when i bought the Bryton, will have to check out that new computer.
Oh, and 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖
Great video, especially about the inner tubes. I have had two punctures in 3 weeks and one blown tube whilst trying to repair. They look great and with the size could carry two instead of one extra just for safety sake. Brilliant.
Always love the content Luke - keep them coming mate! best of luck with the full time You Tube, you make it look easy....
Hope this whole 'Pro RUclipsr' thing is working out for you, Luke...... Exciting times indeed. Oh, and if you've lost some handlebars, some joker has stuck them to the ceiling of your garage.

And thanks Ribble, I hope I can make it work long term, baguettes crossed🤞
@@TraceVelo This type of channel is what people want now..... Well, I hope it is 😉
YBN chains are on par with Shimano (105 level) in my experience and they are definitely less rusty then KMC (never had a good experience with KMC).
Yeah same here actually. People RAVE about KMC chains, but in my experience they are OK, not bad, but not amazing
I'm glad I stumbled onto your videos. I'm not racing or even doing club rides anymore and needed to get away from team kits. I've ordered bibs and jerseys (long and short sleeve), socks, arm warmers and vest from Siroko. Really some of the best kits I've ever worn. It took 2 trys to get the right size but was able to sell what didn't fit. Seriously the best clothing per price out there.

I've been using pedal extenders for years and you're the first person I've ever heard mentioned them in a video
They work great and have saved my left knee, more people should use them but I think they're not well known.
Hi. Can you tell more about those extenders? I'm very interested in those but love to find out an actual review
Nice one Geoffrey, congrats on going full time 🎉
Can definitely vouch for the Ridenow inner tubes. Using them on my road bike and 26" mtb - very good performance so far. Would make good carry along spares for the tubeless tribe.
Thanks you Luke. The pedal extenders are a game changer. I tried several methods to get rid off knee pain but with it, it was gone immediatly.
Good luck with the full-time 'tuber' move. Great vid, bit of a mini long term review. I find the long term reviews really helpful, the balance between cost and quality in real world riding and the issue of longevity addressed. 🥖

🥖🥖🥖 I wasn't sure about wider Q factor when I bought my Assioma duo shi pedals, (they add 14mm) but now I can't pedal without them. I swap them between my bikes and really love them. So if you're looking for a power meter, they're awesome and will fit you! I find it very liberating to not be stuck with a single model of crank by an expensive power meter.

I bought 4 of the RideNow TPU inner tubes and am very happy with them. One came with a slow leak, but I managed to patch it with their own patch kit. Just use plenty of their glue and keep pressing the patch back down if it tries to curl up while the glue dries. 🥖🥖🥖
Try latex tubes! Made the switch from butyl to latex 3000km ago, without a puncture yet. Combined with a good set of tires, like Gp5000, the decrease in rolling resistance is massive compared to a regular setup.
Only downside is that they loose air over time- I have to pump my tires back to proper pressure before every ride.
Just had my first puncture today with the ridenow innertubes but I was on a section of roadworks. The holes were tiny but it went down super fast. We will see in time, they are 100% recyclable too so I'm hoping they really are as great as hoped.
Great video, @8:30, a couple of years ago I contacted Garmin for repair parts for my failing plastic buttons. They told me tough luck and buy a new computer. I bought a new back cover that contains the buttons for my Garmin 1000 from Ali express and it is spot on factory. The only thing missing was the serial #, yes it's that good.

Hey Luke thanks for all the recommendation by the way IGSPORT just release their new cyclocomputer its the BSC300 i hope you could do a review about that cyclo computer! more power to you and to your channel and more bike stuff review! 😊
Love these stuff been using some like the light and tube they work great as you said in video hoping for part 2
I am definitely interested in more of the other cycling stuff and your experience with it. I don't buy a bike or wheelset very often, but I tend to try the little gegaws and whatzits more often.
Those TPU inner tubes by ride now are brilliant. Just tried the 36g ones, amazing. Not sure if im brave enough to try the 24g ones as im a heavier rider. Just ordered another 3. Brilliant Channel!!!! thanks Luke!!!!!

I have a fair number of 'Risk' parts that are mostly on my gravel bike and they've all been a great value. I need to try the TPU tubes
Love your content man, keepi it comin ;)
Cheers M!!!
Hey Luke, the one thing that you could put on your "to do list' is a review of pumps, or, pressure gauges to see how accurate they are. Especially when tyre pressures are seemingly becoming more critical to tyre performance. For example as a giggle I bought a track pump from Lidl a few weeks ago, looked good and sturdy, but pressure gauge significantly out! Is Chinese gear any better? Best wishes buddy
Glad to hear you've gone Tonto. Also thanks for the tip as regards the front light and chains, I'm in for them. On that subject, a pal of mine says I'm doing it all wrong by cleaning my bike pretty much after every ride, and taking the chain off for a soak once a week. The bit he finds alarming is unlocking the master link and then re-using it. Is this dangerous? Give it to me straight! Ya gotta tell me Doc! Am I too clean???
Im sure its been mentioned but if not re: latex tubes. According to tests, their rolling resistance is great, but the issues I have with them is they leak air between rides way faster than tubeless, standard or tpu tubes. In addition, they have a shelf life as latex will start to deteriorate over time and oils from your hands can accelerate that. Between tpu and latex tubes, I'll go tpu every time.
The pedal extenders are definitely not for everyone. A pair that I had here cracked 20min into a ride and the result was a nice crash and half of the extender stuck in the crank. If you really need wider pedals, SQLab makes them and they've been holding up just fine.
