I love this movie so much! Kenny Rogers is my favorite country music artist, and Bruce Boxleitner is my favorite actor. Seeing the two of them in this movie together is so great! I remember in the summer of 1989, my Mom and Dad and I were on a road trip together, and one of the places we visited was Old Tucson, where "The Gambler" was filmed. My Dad and I went into one of the saloons together, and we saw several photos on the walls of different actors who had done Westerns in Old Tucson. There was a photo of Bruce Boxleitner and Marie Osmond, from a TV Western called "I Married Wyatt Earp." We went back to find my Mom, and found her at a train station, standing next to a train. It took me a moment to realize where we were, and when I did, I was so excited! I said, "Oh, my gosh! Do you know where we are? This is where they filmed the first 'Gambler' movie!" Kenny Rogers and Bruce Boxleitner stood right here where we are now!" This was such an exciting moment! The one thing that would've made it even better was if Bruce and Kenny had been there. I would've loved to have met them both. Sadly, Kenny Rogers passed away two years ago. He is terribly missed. Bruce Boxleitner is still living and still in the acting business. Hopefully, my dream of meeting him will come true someday. I've heard that he"s a genuinely nice guy. I've heard the same thing about Kenny Rogers, too. Just thought I'd share a special memory with everybody.
Dear Kelly,Was able to chat with Kenny several times .Yes,he was patient and kind. Saw him several times with the same friend and recognized and acknowledged us . Also have nice autographed picture. And a pic with him, taken by his sister in law ,with his arm around our shoulders.Haven't washed that shoulder since !!But wait, there's more .........Hope you enjoyed chit chat .🥰
*Legendary* *Scenes* *1.* 01:30:50 *2.* 01:34:12 I remember watching this movie as a young teen when it came out in 1980. It's the one scene I never forgot from the whole movie. After she reveals whether he bluffed or not, the song starts. I'm a kid dark child from Brooklyn NY singing You got to know when to hold em. Good times
Good movie all round, I saw Kenny at a concert in NZ a long time ago and have always loved his singing but it's the 1st time I've seen him act. The whole movie sets and props were authentic esp. the train.
A very enjoyable movie. I really like those old western style films and as I'm a big fan of the "theme song" if you will, I just had to watch it. That ending was awesome!
Glad I get to see my old friend Kenny in these movies. He was great when I met him in 1961 at the Show Biz singing in the Bobby Doyle Trio. I could tell that he had star quality. He even told me that one day he was going to " make it ". And we all know how that turned out !
I dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
I read that Gambler was his favorite song, something to do with how it dealt with real life & struggles. I got to see him in the late 80's. He was & always will be Great!
Nice neat film, kenny and bruce make a good pair, Christine Belford is stunning, but lance Legault stole it for me in his voice for one, and the way he played that hand against the straight flush, knowing he was against the straight flush and was not going to call, the humbleness and courtesy shown after loosing ( not his own choice to call it ) was pure class. Also have to mention brady giving billy a lesson at the start, billy needed that badly, hawkes probably saved his life in do so. Good little film. Kenny Rogers R.I.P sir. Loved the poker scenes.
I love poker; I majored in psych and while it isn’t a factor in anyway that makes one a poker player the game for me is very psychological and learning psych makes it so appealing; one thing I can say, you learn who a man is by how they play; I tend to never let or make it policy to keep my head, never express anger, walk away when it’s just hopeless and look forward to the rebound because it comes back in a very rewarding way. People who bet chaotically are poor players and it really gets on my nerves when they’re on a ridiculous win streak but I learned that vendettas are not good to play and I tend to lose. Just walk away and take the L and look forward to next time.

So Kenny Rogers used to limp?
No! He affected the limp to play the character.

And the last lesson is: always tip the dealer after every win! It’s classy and karma rewards class!
Hope u up gamebler 2, 3,4,5 full HD more
