- READ DESCRIPTION IF YOU ARE USING METHOD ONE DO NOT BOOT CUSTOM FIRMWARE THROUGH SYSNAND (SYSMMC) This video has been requested for a while so here you go! The best way to avoid bans from the nintendo ninjas! In this video I go over two methods to avoid being banned. The first method we setup an EMUNAND and a backup of an NAND so you can use tinfoil, but you can only go online without mods. The second method shows you can go online with mods but you have to be careful what mods you download. Hope this video helps out and drop any questions in the comments below!
If you guys want to be EVEN SAFER using method 1, I suggest you create an exosphere file which is essentially an incognito mode and a DNS MITM file that blocks you from reaching nintendo servers period. Adding this will allow you to connect to shops but disable nintendo online services.

Create a file named emummc.txt in /atmosphere/hosts/ (the hosts folder might not be there so create one) and paste this in your emummc.txt file:

For those who are using method one and want to take not getting banned a step further Id read the description. Id also recommend setting up safety boot to emummc in hekate so you dont accidentally launch your sysnand through cfw!
I have a Nintendo 2DS (original model) and I modded it but it broke I did send it to my local Game store to get fixed but they couldn't fix it, I kinda don't want to send it to Nintendo because I don't know what they'll do... What do I do?? Please help!!!

I'm sorry, I'm new to this so a little confused. The homebrew app store needs internet access but if you go online with cfw you can get banned? Right now I have the default stuff since I just modded my switch earlier today. I did method one (I think a back up is crucial) but to be sure the only way I'll be banned while online is if I avoid installing roms/rom installation apps?All else is good?
no youll be fine because thats a online server you have to run 90dns so you cant connect to NINTENDOS servers

most of them wil do i believe its because of nintendos rules or something but if you find some really bad games in development they might not have ban checks working yet

I have a question, If I install animal crossing on my stock version through eshop but also having it installed on my SD card to use on emummc, will I still be able to go online as long as I launch the legit version while being in sys? Because my friend wants me to do a treausure island but obviously it would be pointless if I can invite them over...

Question, at the beginning of the video when he mentions if you download any sort of nyx or nsp games and you connect to the internet you will get banned, does he mean connecting to the internet on switch in general or connecting to online/the internet within these games? I already downloaded some nyx and nsp games while connected to the internet but I haven't played online within any games yet, am I cooked?

What I don't understand: You're telling not to connect to the internet using the emunand. But in order to download games on Tinfoil you have to, right?
It's one of those things.. while you can take precautions to try avoid a ban its still always risky. I've had a mooded switch for a while now and I have never connected to the Internet, you can easily download switch nsp files of the Internet and transfer to ur sd card on ur computer and use something like dbi installer on the switch to install the games

One more thing is that you actually can play gameplay altering mods online safely as long as your opponent has the same mods as you, like in an arena with friends fir example. Also you don’t need to remove them from your sd card you can simply toggle them off in the modded menu of smash which is accessed through the eshop symbol in the bottom right if the menu

1:25 Isn't what you are saying here wrong? I mean, if you get banned, even with a backup, there's no way to reverse it.
AFAIK nand backups are useful in case something goes wrong with the nand, you can use the backup to save your console.

I have pirated my switch for over 2 years now, haven’t gotten banned. I incognito’d my sysnand, but played online on Nintendo servers through my Emunand. I’m not sure if these helped prevent me from getting banned. I really hope I don’t get banned at all, I only install pirates xci games, and I don’t hack or mod online publicly with random people, only by myself when I’m not playing with others. Does Nintendo detect what I am doing? Or can they?
Question, I’ve modded my switch yesterday, and I have Mario kart mods on it, is it more safe for me to use them in friend rooms than actual worldwide play? (FYI the only mods I have are texture changes, like wedding Mario for example).

For some reason, this does not seem to work for me. If I follow the instructions and enter the SD card into the PC afterwards, two particions show up, one with 89GBs and another one that's not recognised (it can be formatted though to show the 29GBs). All the Backup files are on the large partition, though, and all files that were there before are gone. If I try to launch emuMMC with that (but also with sysMMC), I get the following error message:

Failed to launch HOS!
I've tried it twice and always get the same error.. How can I fix that?
The exact same thing happened to me. Would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this; most of the 'help' I've seen people give was really condescending and/or in an annoyed tone, though I promise I followed every single step with the utmost caution.
Has the SD card been properly formatted to fat32? The two partitions is normal. One for your switch games and backups and one for your emummc. Make sure to not let your computer mess with those and don't click okay on any of the boxes that pop up. Sounds like your computer has formatted or deleted sections in an attempt to read both partitions.
This also happened to me. Ever figure it out?
U have to put ur switch files back onto the SD Card since a lot of them were deleted. He didnt specify this and I assume it fcked over a lot of people
Will I get banned if I use things like cheats for Pokemon Violet or Shield? Won't take them online but will utilization of cheats like changing levels and items in my inventory result in a ban? And will it apply if I use the save on my non-hacked switch?

Just a quick question, what about Incognito, 90DNS and those sorts of methods to avoid being banned?
unsure about 90DNS but incognito said the method is outdated and can put you in a risk of a ban. I looked into it before making the video. on the release page of the website it says " WARNING this homebrew uses an old method of storing PRODINFO backups on the SD card where they can be accessed by malicious homebrew or deleted (especially if you use an exfat formatted card that is prone to corrupt, although even fat32 microSDs can have corruption).
Please make sure that you have a NAND backup. Tinfoil from tinfoil.io has a new method of storing the prodinfo backup on the NAND instead of SD to avoid the above mentioned issues.
Updated to provide legacy support in case anyone needs to restore their old backups made with Incognito RCM onto a clean NAND.
**not providing further updates since people are still using this unsafe method to apply incognito and then aren't saving their backups, effectively self-banning permanently. "

Hi! Don't know if you'll see this, but do you know if I dump a game to the custom firmware backup for method 1 and then play the game online when going to the original firmware, will I get banned because I'm playing a backed up game on the regular firmware?

You shouldn't get banned, but anything can happen I guess. Also there is no way but you can use AutoRCM to boot the Switch into recovery mode every time, you then have to push the payload over USB; that can be done with an Android phone. Also be sure to backup before doing AutoRCM as it basically bricks your system on purpose so that it can't boot by itself and boots into RCM from where you can then boot with a custom bootloader (Hekate)
I got a question. If I mod my save file on a single player game without modding my switch, is it likely I could get banned? I have been trying to find an answer to this for a few days now.

Probably not. I’m assuming single player means the game doesn’t connect online. If you never connect online with it you’re definitely safe

If you use anything on a modded switch & then connect to Nintendos Online servers you can get banned, piracy is almost definate, but save editing, game mods, skins etc, logs will still get sent to Nintendo.
Android is a completely seperate OS, on a different partition. It carries no ban risk at all. The same way nintendo would have no idea if you browsed the internet on an android phone.
Can someone please help me.I have a switch with atmosphere on it but want to sell it .is it true that having atmosphere is a soft mod and everytime it dies it gos back to pre mod state(original)I have all backup files on a partitioned sd card in the switch.if what I was told is true does that mean if the power dies I can log into my Nintendo account and use it as normal without getting banned.wanted to remove jailbreak before passing it on.

I was searching for a similar question. I used through several months (6) my Nintendo Switch with Atmosphere, downloading several games constantly from Pixelshop. Any issues yet: I only used this softmodded console for downloading backups (Pixelshop Store), themes, watch crunchyroll, etc WITHOUT using a profile attached to Nintendo servers, and using all the time incogito and the other stuff related.
On the other side, I recently decided to enter to stock mode with this same console, using my legal profile for downloading demos from the eshop or updates. At this moment I still remain without getting banned, having atmosphere and stock (legal) modes, surfing with my profile on the eshop without problems.
@@diegocobo8 For the six months since my comment, I have also regularly used CFW on sysNAND, connecting online to Nintendo servers without any further safety precautions. Either I am being lucky, or Nintendo really does not care as long as you do not cheat online or install nps's to your console.

1.) Is it possible to separate files/ games between SYSNAND and EMUNAND (on the same SD Card)? For example if I had a NSP file I ONLY wanted to show in EMUNAND but not on SYSNAND to prevent ban, is this possible? From what I can tell, files put on the SD card are shared and visible in both, making it risky unless you offload them from the SD Card every time you boot into SYSNAND to play online.
Nintendo can't do much. They can't search through your SD card for anything other than what the console has written. Otherwise I'm sure you'd be making millions in a lawsuit for having your privacy violated like that.

As i say in the video, if you dont plan on downloading roms you can. But if you connect to the internet at all and you have games installed from tinfoil u can get banned easily
So the method for if you want to download roms is play mods on an emmunand offline and play online on not cfw. If you dont want to download roms you have to just be careful about the mods you download and thats it
Bro think of it this way. When you boot uo your emummc from hekate,
That part can be used for emulators piracy, or whatever you wan't aslong as
1) it doesnt require nintendo online
2) You have 90DNS, exosphere etc, that blocks connections to the eshop or nintendo online stuff on your emummc specifically, this still lets you use online services from homebrew developers.
If you wan't to go online in smash ultimate & pokemon boot back into the sysmmc(non hacked side) & play them online.
Basically that sysmmc part remains clean,
Your emummc can get horrendously dirty, but it wont matter because you have taken the correct measures to block connections on that half to Nintendo.
The above method is basically banproof at this point.
If you wan't to create skins, hack savefiles for games you wan't to go online multiplayer with, whatever mod you use their is a risk, even if some are low. If nintendo check your logs they will know your not running something official.

Because the rcm jig used to get into the recovery mode slides Into the same slot as the right side joycon, if you watched multiple videos on modding I'm not sure how you missed such crucial information 😅

i mention this in the method 2 section. but no skin mods (for the most part) will not get you banned. its mostly in game modifications that change gameplay severely in an online setting. legends arceus is offline mostly so you should be good.
method 2 is for just using in game mods and not downloading mods which applies to you!
