- Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (The Turtles, Flo & Eddie) receive a visit from Rance Muhammitz, played by the actor, singer, and activist, Theodore Bikel. The late and great Jimmy Carl Black (The Indian Of The Group) of The Mothers Of Invention and Geronimo Black fame, has the last word in this short excerpt from Frank Zappa's ground-breaking 1971 film, "200 Motels".
Still one of the greatest movements of my life back in the day when I first seen this, like discovering life on another planet, that scene in particular
Haha! Jimmy Carl Black cracks me up! XD
You got to be stoned as fuck to watch this movie.
My Name Jimmy Carl Black and I'm the Indian of the group.
Most of it consisted of jokes that flew around from touring with various versions of the Mothers/of Invention. The cheeseburger from the restaurant with the arches refers to McDonald's, which they probably saw a lot of(and might've eaten at) on tour. I forget who, if anybody, Rance might've been based off of, but it might've been a reference to people in the music industry with weird sounding names(Ravi Shankar et al). The rest you'll just have to figure out.
There is no mention of arches. Rance is supposed to be Satan....LOL
Rest in Peace Rance.
In a steaming briefcase!
I love this!! ❤️❤️❤️
And then, one day, Tony Palmer woke up and made an acclaimed series of documentaries on composers like Stravinsky, Purcell, Wagner et al.
when do we get paid?
I get early Sesame Street vibes for some reason.
Trying to figure out the hippie code here. Name confusion, a special delivery from OAK, arch innuendo, use of alias, food conspiracy innuendo. He also shows up as a smaller version of himself with the special delivery to Volman's mind.
RIP Theodore
Howard Kaylan proves that he graduated from the William Shatner school of acting.
I have this movie and it says it was made in 1969? Regardless, I love it!
