19:30 - Not quite. The guy who returned to the same prison, different level was a mistake. Prisoners are supposed to be shuffled to a different prison entirely. When he was recognized as having just been released from a different level, same prison... everyone on that floor was electrocuted in order to cover it up. Now that word has spread around the prison about that happening....
It was a mistake for the guy who "got out" being sent to another level. He was supposed to be taken to another facility. So once you have done your time, they take you to another facility full of people who have done their time. Presumably, with even harsher levels of control to suppress the anger at not being let out as promised.
I find it interesting how the parallel narratives of Cassian and Syril creates a juxtaposition between their relationships with their mothers and how they approach affection. For Maarva Andor, love is pure and unconditional. For Eedy Karn, love is transactional. So for Cassian, love is easy and relationships with women are unpossessive (maybe to a fault) while for Syril love is awkward, creepy, and possessive.
Grim notes about Ulaf's death. 1) The doctor was only carrying euthanizing shots in his case. 2) The body bag and trolley were already coming well in advance. Great video as always, and looking forward to the next Andor reaction so much. Andy Serkis is already doing an amazing job in these two episodes, and you'll be seeing a lot more next episode.
The way they deal with the pilot is the coldest, smartest, and scariest the Empire has been in Disney Wars. I don't think they were supposed to change levels, probably were meant to go to the mines to mine the ore to create what they're making. Somewhere that you can force people to work and not worry about craftsmanship.
I was under the impression that the prisoners were supposed to be transferred to another facility altogether but due to paperwork snafu ended up in the same facility on another floor.
I think that before the Public Order Re-sentencing Directive (PORD), in which all prison sentences were "reconsidered," they truly did release prisoners at the end of their terms. But the PORD did two things to the prisons: It extended all current sentences to life _and_ it substantially increased the number of incoming prisoners. I suspect the plan to shuffle prisoners between prisons was an _ad hoc_ solution that was executed in haste and clumsily. If that had always been the practice, it would have been discovered and communicated among the prisoners long earlier.
Vel being Mon Mothma's cousin is a nice development. Her character is still interesting as she's still trying to convince herself she's a rebel and pretty much quoting Cinta from their conversatino last episode. Things are coming to a head in the prison. Things are about to get nasty! Great reaction to the stuff going on.
I think one of the brilliant moves of this show is making Dedra sympathetic as we watch her struggle against professional roadblocks and misogyny, to the point that we root for her. Then, she's put into these scenes with Bix, and we're like "oh yeah, she's a baddie." Which, of course she is, because she's part of the empire. But, we're back on her side when she has to defend her findings.
Denise Gough, the actress, said it best herself: "Tony wrote the first scenes for us to cheer for Dedra, but in the end you don’t do it anymore. She is not just a woman in a man’s world, but a fascist in a world of fascists. It was important to see that power corrodes women as much as men."
Thank you, Topness! 🔊 That auditory torture is the stuff of nightmares. ෴ The actor who played the prison doctor was Adrian Rawlins... he also played 'James' in the HARRY POTTER movies. ෴ You'll get another climax in Episode 10.

Man that “never more than 12” line always puts a huge grin on my face 😄
This won't be the last time we see Denise Gough (Dedra) in big projects like that. She's very very good.
She was about to quit acting before this gig.
@@dirtyhawkstv1575 the number of artists whose work is cut short when they go overlooked a little too long is tragic to imagine

Interesting thought.
