Where I started climbing and where I still go, at least once a month. Absolutely a beginners dream, the awe inspiring scale of the place with no shortage of 5 - 6b walls
This place is amazing. Edinburgh is really blessed with 5 indoor climbing gyms. Eden Rock is a massive indoor bouldering gym just outside the city but there is also my locals Alien Rock and Alien Bloc which are in the city and smaller but equally as fun!
Ahh so awesome to see my local wall being featured! Ratho is amazing and the leading ranges from amazing to brutal! The comp wall really is the pumpiest thing around!
Its 6000 sq m of tesioned fabric membrane - like the sail on a racing yacht- but extra strong. It is tensioned over a steel frame. Sometimes drips a wee bit in the winter. Plenty of light- 40% translucency. drums a bit when there's heavy rain, but that just makes you happier to be under cover.
Might have to pay this a visit! Looks dope
THAT WOULD MAKE A SICK VID!!!
Yes please
For the love of all things climbing, please do that
yessss please come
you will need to do a number of vids there - spend a weekend up north innit!

that place looks nuts! though i feel my belayer might struggle to hear me insecurely screaming TAKE near the top of the 30m wall
Chris Bartlett hahahshahhahahs I was literally just thinking the same 😂
Its actually surprisingly easy to hear in ratho despite its size
@swareshewas18 calm down daddy
Me:take
Belayer:wat

Wow. Another one in my bucket list.
Ewan Liaw unlucky I live 2 mins away from this place
wanna triple your money? add a hotel, or rent out rooms there, THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE!
Used to go there once a year for the youth climbing series finals, amazing centre
The 30 meter wall has some great climbs on it, it is very daunting at first but once you get up there it feels amazing!!
It is awesome living 20 minutes away from this place 0_0
Gym tours are the best

Big up the women Naruto running at 9:17
Yeah alright, I’m moving to Edinburgh.
Ah man, it's such an epic place for climbing. The 30m wall is where I tackle my fear of heights xD
that drop wall looked so fun!
That wall the Scottish winter mixte climbing would be a reason to move to Edinburgh :)
they left out the Ariel assault course! i loved coming here as a kid cant wait to get back now ive progressed to rope climbing
Thy Doughnut The Ariel assault course closes. It kept breaking and cost too much to run
that place looks absolutely amazing
I want to go to there!
heading there in November :D
I need to go there some day. My gym's highest walls are 10m
Mine too
I went to a Sumer camp here I'm 11 and I was using the 30m walls
I think mine is 15m tall so 30m is insane
Incredible, a trip to Scotland is needed!
Well...if I go on a trip abroad I look for crags and not for a gym. Anyway, it's so huge that I admit I'd like to give it a try.
looks amazing!
I learn to climb at scotland first large climbing wall 10 points if you know its name ? It was the largest in the uk for years
They should bolt the exposed rock of the quarry indoors to help the transition to outdoor climbing
I live like right next to it... and I never realised how big it was
What is the ceiling made of? If there is one
its a diffuse Plexiglas. lets loads of light in, but nothing thatll blind you

Whatever it's made of I'll tell you one thing, it's bloody cold in the winter in there!!
Finally have a reason to visit Scotland
I wonder if they have any crack features?
Klettererzentrum Innsbruck is bigger, as far as I know
And is in Europe
Doesnt have that tall walls
Did no one see the ropes course on the ceiling??
The aerial runway is decommissioned at the mo', would be great to see it back in action. My kids loved it.
nice
First baby
I just got four.
