I'm a 30 year SWFL resident!
Tip 1: Water, water everywhere. We have to be ultra-aware of flooding from all the rain and low elevation, so there are many small 'lakes' in the area that are actually holding ponds for runoff from rainwater. Building codes actually require a certain amount of this runoff area for every paved area built, which is why you will see apartment complexes with a lake in the middle, or a small one adjacent to a bank or shopping center. Don't forget the canals as well, they are everywhere, especially in Cape Coral of course. People love living close to the water even if it isn't a beach! Good luck building my hometown! 🤓
Gasparilla is actually a pirate parade we celebrate in Tampa every January, with pirate ships invading the bay in downtown tampa
I live in central Florida and I travel all over the state. What you said with the roads being scary is so true. One thing you should add is lots of lakes and water retention ponds because Florida is at sea level we need these bodies of water to prevent flooding during the strong storms during the summer. Lots of Florida also has canals running alone roads, I do not know if the area you are building in would have them but its a idea.
I LOVE THIS!!! I'm from Tampa originally so this is my neck of the woods. I don't play CS2 (never bought it, I play the original CS) but I'll definitely keep watching.
One idea I had. Florida is home to many Major League Baseball teams during Spring Training. What happens is teams play their preseason practices and games down here to avoid the cold weather in most of the other markets during February and March. So they have mini-stadiums (like 8-12k seats) where they play their preseason games. Most teams have their own stadiums (the Nationals and Astros share, also the Marlins and Cardinals share, everyone else has their own), and there's even some older stadiums that no longer are used by a team but still do other events (Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg is a good example. It's historic and it's hosted multiple MLB teams. Now it hosts a USL Soccer team and can't host baseball anymore). Once they leave, most of the stadiums are used by their Minor League team, to form the Florida State League. In the region you mentioned, Bradenton has the Pittsburgh Pirates (with their FSL team, the Bradenton Marauders), Sarasota has the Baltimore Orioles, North Port has the Atlanta Braves, Port Charlotte has the Tampa Bay Rays, and Ft. Myers has both the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins (with their FSL team, the Ft. Myers Mighty Muscles). I think Gasparilla could host an MLB spring training team, but be warned it will take much more land than just a stadium since they need practice fields and other facilities.
I spent a lot of time down in the Ft. Myers. I don't think CS2 has an algorithm to match the amount of crazy that's down there.
That’s brutal putting a cemetery adjacent to an elementary school 😂23:38
A Cape Coral style build with canals would be fun!
As a resident of Sarasota County i was very excited to see this show up in my feed. Keep this series going!!!
I'm looking forward to recreating the suburban hellscape that is Lakeland, FL. once the DLC I already paid for becomes available.
Love your stuff. Would love for you to look at Ponce inlet/ Daytona beach area for that peninsula you have on your coast. Reminded me exactly of it
I grew up in Sarasota county down in north port, if you need inspiration for sprawl I would definitely check out north port for inspiration as well as look at how they have they schools set up. There’s a lot of canals that run through north port so there’s lots of bridges and pedestrian bridges to get kids to and from school by walking. Was a great area to grow up in. It’s about 45 minutes north of fort myers and 30 minutes away from Arcadia
Be mindful of palm tree placement. In the US, they are an invasive grass species, not a naturally occuring forest tree.
Hello from SRQ! Excited to watch this progress.
Sadly, FL is terrible about environmental things, esp related to the disposal of sewage. We very frequently have "accidental" leaks of raw sewage directly into our waterways on the west coast. This, coupled with the runoff from the agriculture in the middle of the state, leads to water i generally refuse to swim in (esp rivers), and yearly red tide blooms that are THE WORST thing i have ever smelled. I only write this part to bring awareness to it... and so people stop moving here XD
Some COOL things to include:
St Armands Cricle
Freedom factory
Lots of luxury condos and homes
UTC/shopping mall area
SWFL resident, I can almost pinpoint my location on your map lol
Old Video, but I just found your channel, so going back and watching all the playlists. Love it.
Empty lots exist everywhere. It's so rare for cities to have every block built on. Even if it was formerly occupied, there should be empty bits.
Been living in Florida since 2015. So, I’m very excited for this one. I love visiting the Gulf Coast once in a blue moon (I live in the east coast) especially for the IndyCar GP at St. Petersburg.
Cape Coral would be a very interested place to recreate in cities skylines 2. It’s a man made canal city where every inch is basically made to be a waterfront. I think I watched a documentary video once that explain the many infrastructure issues that are there due to the massive amount of interconnected canals/waterfront properties
We have a summer house in this area, would be cool to include one of the many state parks located at the rivers. Maybe a place like Babcock Ranch which is a so called "master planned" community.
I live on the west coast about an hour or so away from sarasota. I am very excited to watch this
I live in Florida I have been waiting for so long for someone to do a Florida build. Can’t wait for the next episode
I'm excited for this series. I was just in Pensacola a few weeks ago. This map reminds me of there.
A'hoy there, just found your channel, as a CS2 noob, I appreciate the content, particularly the city layout, the sunken roads, it looks beautiful and definitely the kind of city I want to build (or download when the time comes 😇)
As a Floridian I recommend taking inspiration from the west coast of pinnellas count
I'm from Bradenton and I'm soooo excited for this series!
29:07 Despite being quite American, these towns usually don't have a ton of parking, and any they have is paid lots, no street parking so it is more pedestrian friendly. They will have a local bus service though, especially along the coast. Locals don't use them but the tourists use them to get around instead of renting a car
Fort Myers resident here, looking foreward to watching!
Ooo... nice map. For your tide simulation... ahem... check your Border Sea Source height. It should throw a white contour line at what it has its "sea level" set to. If you've added other sources then check you haven't got any constant level sources sitting below that sea level as they'll just drain the water away.
Watching the Paklo Interchange thinking the whole time that this will be the accident hotspot number 1 😁
I would fulfill the high density demand by putting condo towers along the beach.
If this were CS not CS2 I would recommend Tomas13TO's Palm Beach series, all based on real Florida buildings.
This is neat! I can’t wait to build Californian, and Florida styled cities!
Great custom map. I love interchange as well. Perhaps the issue mentioned regarding the underwater sand dunes becoming exposed has to do with the tide. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to more. Great start.
I find Tampa to be the best city to consider for the town center and other things. Tampa has Busch Gardens theme park, 1 of every type of city district (Industry, Port, Leisure, Low-Income, High-Density, Commercials, etc.), and have proximity to St. Petersburg (Also a good template), Clearwater (best beach in America period), and the Rural areas of Riverview, Zephyrhills, and Land-o-Lakes (We got budder, we got wadder, we livin good!).
The Tri-County region is a microcosm of Greater Florida, and the Sunshine Skyway is Iconic! You can do alot with what that region has going on!
In Florida there’s a lot of golf courses along the coast
Mabey take inspiration from a course like legacy golf course
Currently visiting family in Venice Fl in Sarasota county. Very cool old “downtown” but aside from that it’s a real pain to get around. In your build include lots of intersections that don’t work/don’t make sense. Check out the intersection of Tamiami trail S and US highway 41 bypas south.
As a Florida Man who occasionally goes to SWFL on that super long skinny island with the beach right across the water you could make it your "Gasparilla Beach" (Ft Myers Beach being IRL Version) to complement your own Ft Myers with the town of Gasparilla you have going on
Took a quick trip to Orlando from Fort Myers & this is extremely accurate
sarasota bay has such a unique and awesome geography tbh, im working on a project based off of it
Well since it’s Florida you need to add a bunch of Palmetto bugs
And fire ants 🔥 🐜
Dangerous strodes are the #1 thing to include for Florida authenticity
the map looks amazing looking forward to playing on it
When I think of Florida the 2 things what comes to mind is, the Kenedy Space Center, and cigars
@@NJxTN I'm not american, nor realy care. And no he wasn't realy important. The only thing is why he is known outside of america is due to him getting shot in Dallas.
Living on the Atlantic side of Florida on the Space Coast. With every neighborhood, add a lake/pond for realism. This is done to make the ground more solid to build on down here, since it's largely marshland and bogs. And a lot of food industry, not just farms, but processing (as well as tech industry and flight, so add an airport). When they get space/rocket industry in the game, add that, as Cape Canaveral, FL was and is one of the main launch places, and is home to NASA and Space Force. Lastly, make sure your downtown is on the river coast, and your beach area is on the little island with a causeway (bridge with sidewalk) attaching it. They are everywhere. Also, it's all over Florida news the past two years, but there's a major passenger rail line being established connecting several of the major cities, called Brightline, starting in Orlando. Maybe incorporate that.
State parks similar to ones like Tiger Bay thats near Daytona, open farm land thats similar to the area around St. Cloud, and a springs area such as Kelly Springs or something of the like would be cool to see. Since you said you're taking inspiration from Naples, I hope you include the extensive canal system they have for the neighborhoods n such.
I live in SRQ so what you need to do is have a massive amount of traffic and roads that are in no way designed to handle it. Also totally on brand for Florida to dump raw sewage directly into the rivers.
Really cool, I'll admit! I might not live anywhere near Southwest Florida, but I think the region is quite interesting. Maybe not so much the vast suburban sprawl, but rather other aspects of the region. It's definitely more laid back that somewhere like Miami; just take a look at places like Sanibel Island. Some of those barrier islands look primed to take some inspiration from places like Sanibel, Captiva, and Fort Myers Beach. I heard that the vibe of FMB has changed somewhat since Hurricane Ian, losing some of its more laid-back vibes in favor of something more "gentrified" so-to-speak.
Fun fact: my favorite women's clothing brand, White House Black Market, is based in SWFL! WHBM is a sister brand of, and is owned by, the Sanibel-founded Chico's. That said, WHBM actually started in Baltimore, MD; Chico's bought them out 21 years ago.
@Timeister You mentioned Arcadia. I used to live in the Ft Myers/Cape Coral area and had friends who lived in Arcadia
Deathtrap Junction--Yep, Floridian enough for me
New series to love!
Nice video! Can you upload this custom map on PDX Mods? I would like to play on it.
Hi Timeister, I also visit Port Richey, Florida during the holidays. Perhaps we may run into each other when I'm there
as a floridian this is pretty accurate
He's back
Kouchibouguac!!! LOL NICE!
love ur video jit 🌚
Tampa is patiently watching 😂😂
Someone please make a Publix asset NOW 😂
I’m back watching timmy
You'll have to zone smaller lots for the mixed use to stay smaller
3:40 very dangerous trust me ive seen some pretty brutal accidents
Gotta have a Spring Training Stadium, all the cities here have one
Oh man that intersection is gorgeous but seems very dangerous in practicality
Got to include Tampa too as the city is called Gasparilla.
I’m so EXCITED make it flat as possible and make beautiful high rises on the beach island
You should try to draw some inspiration from Daytona beach, its quiet and a little college town for bethune cookman
Nice work! One thing is that the majority of blocks have broken zoning grids, and I kinda dislike that, just a me problem though.
You should make like a kind of macro island Naples area with canals and houses kind like the ultra exclusive area of city
you should defo post this map cause it looks so fun too build on
2:31 especially the Florida men
Check your outside connection when crossing the river. It looks like it didnt bridge over.
15:27 it looks like the river gets blocked there when building across.
you have biffa vibes...keep going my man
when i hear florida i think swamp
Don’t forget the i-4 and i 75 traffic lol
Don't you guys enjoy a good gameplay of CS2 at night while relaxing on your bed? 😅
Florida theme map 👍
That parclo looks… dangerous, lol
Need the Cape Coral man made canal system.
For props and stuff you can just enable dev mode
Nice vid.
Nice beach. ;)
Will you build and English style city? West Yorkshire possibly
Naples Florida?? Never knew there was a second Naples
What map is this? I am trying to find it.
BIG BIUIDINGS like Miami for the future cities most of them pls
Your gameplay and videos are a,azing. I hope you will upload the map for us :)
I'm not finding the map ?
Omf is this the sandbanks? Prince Edward county?
Well, I guess this partially explains why Timeister wasn't making videos for the last week and a half.
I'm in Boynton Beach 😊
did you by any chance use kouchibouguac national park? i’ve visited a few times and i’ve gotta say it looks very alike🤷♂️
You got it!
@@Timeister i knew it!!!
can you add tampa to this Gasparilla County Season please
No medium density or high density beach assets? 😮
Are you making this map available?
Lets go
Will this map be available for download?
Hi, are you done with Bixton?
Not yet!
Which map is this?
Also you should take inspiration in the Tampa Bay Area as is the most developed in the gulf coast
hes not going for high density...
@2:33
5 months later and I still have homeless tents everywhere -_-
how can we download this map?
