Those guys always go out of business, they don't understand turnover is what's important, if you can make 30%-40% sell it now! there's always more inventory out there
The brass things are for drapes. You would see 3 or 5 in a row with gaudy material draped over them. It formed an a wave like pattern of dropping half circles.
That's my issue with this kind of work. He has to sit on that stuff and store it until it sells. Finally one guy comes by and wants one or two filters, and you spend 30 minutes closing the deal. Then he gives you a fraction of the value. Good grief!
Holy Cow!!!! These people are from the mountains of West Virginia. I’m losing my mind over here listening to these people. I hope everyone goes home with everything they brought. Trying to he rich off of trash.
People don't have to budge from their asking price but have fun loading all those items back into your vehicle at the end of the day. Also, sometimes its ok losing money or breaking even on something. You won't hit a homerun on every single item you buy and try to resell to others at a Flea Market but some people need to learn how to negotiate especially on a cold and rainy day when theres mininal foot trafiic. Also if you have to say uhhh and ummm 9 times obviously you have no idea what you're trying to sell. Flea Markets are fun to walk and browse around but a lot of times unfortunately most of peoples items are cheap knockoffs and or just plain junk. Sometimes you find good stuff but thats rare in todays day and age.
This is why I hate going to large and more popular flea markets. People asking the bank for crap. I haven’t been to one in decades. I know it’s end of the year and garage sales are dead, but I wouldn’t waste time or gas. We have a couple here outside Chicago like the one your at. Looks a lot like it.
Those brass items are most likely antique French mirror stands like the size that would sit on a dresser. I did a print screen from your video and that's what came up in search. If they are 19th century they are worth researching but they are missing many pieces They may also be candelabras that mounted on a pole, either way missing many pieces I would have definitely bought them too
I'm jealous, last weekend I had to officially call it quits until spring for sourcing Nobody wants to have sales when the high is 40 There's really good tape on ebay for about $0.70 per roll shipped, I don't remember the seller but it says valumailers on the tape roll
The buckle was cool! It could also be sold to a Nebraska Cornhusker fan , because that our football slogan" Go Big Red" I know its for tobacco, but I see dual collectability there. Great video!
I'd rather sell 20x items at a lower price than sell 1 item at top dollar. Flip it n move on. Most of those sellers are going to sit on those items at those prices. Glad to see you out in the weather bangin it. Be safe.
I never understand why people just don't price their items, I may ask the price on a piece or 2 then walk away from the rest just because I hate asking on every single piece. I would probably buy a lot more if I could pick it up and see the price, normally I walk away empty handed. By the way, love your video's!
I do house cleanouts as a side gig, the guys that sell at flea markets don't care if they store it until they check out then the family has to deal with it.
DDP Flag is cool. Goatta love the Friday movies. The candle holders ar neat . Or whatevere they are. Deff interesting. Im wondering if u have them upside down. I agree with some others they are fireplace irons. Could be worth a ton from looka of it
The brass was worth $35 to me as a collector all day long. If they were heavy pieces I’d pay $60 as a collector. From the lense of your camera they looked like light pieces from India. Still hate to see them sit though
it is very annoying when a vendor has no idea what they want for something, standing there for 2 minutes going ummm ummmm hmmm ummm ........... ummm.......hmmmm
Well then....don't sell to John on a wet, miserable day. You have so many other choices of people to sell to (NOT). One of the infamous statement, "I can't make any money at that price" "That's a $600 box of filters". I get that, BUT no sale=no money. LAME Uhhhhh I'll charge you triple, but to another person, more or less. I price items when I sell in person. Someone knows where I stand, high or low! I ALWAYS say, "Let's talk". Ya gotta be able to read the room. Thanks for the vid John.
SUGGESTION...if you want packing tape, scotch tape, scissors, pens, markers, erase board, bankers boxes cheap, get a costco membership and get it on sale
I've watched several of your videos and have enjoyed most of them. I will possibly be in the minority here, but I try to see things from a family point of view. I was great today until the porn showed up. Dictionary describes it as...the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement... We all know it's not trying to encourage the wholesome side of young or old. Yes, profit is profit to some, but where do we draw the line? Who will buy it from you from the anonymity of the internet? Some impressionable teenager who will grow up to be an abuser or murderer, or some husband or boyfriend wondering why their relationships never work out? Because the DVDs you kept for yourself were also dark, it may not matter to you, but please just think about it next time. Sermon over...not even going to pass the plate. Btw, I did a search without a pic for brass fireplace andirons and some pretty close to yours popped up first thing. Most of the pricey items (as you probably know) are not on Ebay or marketplace but on Etsy and Worthpoint. You are missing pieces, but a good metalworker could easily make them. I wish you nothing but the best. Sorry for the long post.
I thought he’d be saying “uhh” for the rest of the video.
and "**BEEEEP**",,,
The uhh guy didn't really want to sell anything either.
😂😂
Ummm Umm Ummm I want to reply but umm umm ummm umm I umm umm umm not sure umm umm what to ummumm say.
😂
The sad thing is not so much that guy wouldn’t work with you. It’s that he’ll never learn why he goes home with everything he came with!
Those guys always go out of business, they don't understand turnover is what's important, if you can make 30%-40% sell it now!
there's always more inventory out there
they say if you listen closely you can still hear him go "uhh pfff.." to this day
The brass things are for drapes. You would see 3 or 5 in a row with gaudy material draped over them. It formed an a wave like pattern of dropping half circles.
It was odd that man couldn’t give an immediate answer to “how much are you asking for this”. Just say it!!🤣
I think he was trying to remember what he paid for them. He really needs a new business plan
Aint no one buyin those filters individually lol
That's my issue with this kind of work. He has to sit on that stuff and store it until it sells. Finally one guy comes by and wants one or two filters, and you spend 30 minutes closing the deal. Then he gives you a fraction of the value. Good grief!

Legend has it, he's still "umming" and "uhhing" to this very day.

Appreciate the negotiation tip at the end, at first I was like man, tough negotiations today, but that explains it! Great vid as always!
Those candle holders look like fire place and irons
Yes they are. Tney were the top of each one of the fireplace poles that held the screen
This is why I hate going to large and more popular flea markets. People asking the bank for crap. I haven’t been to one in decades. I think you're looking at the brass pieces upside down, pretty sure those are fireplace Andirons and are missing the back legs
That's exactly what they are!
I'm jealous, last weekend I had to officially call it quits until spring for sourcing

Greetings from Germany and thanks for the video John.
Thanks for watching, Bob!
Those are hand irons from a fireplace
The brass things look like Andirons missing the back part. the part with the chain attached would be the legs
Uhhhh….errrr…ummmm…uhhhhh
That guy was something else
@@cincinnatipicker That dude was just sticking his finger up to the wind...Uuuuhhhhhh
Those brass items look like they go on a fireplace (like a French Chenet)
They do go a fireplace.
Ahhm ahhm he had no idea what he paid for those brass pieces
Dang these people be charging!! This is not Walmart!! Lol
The buckle was cool! It could also be sold to a Nebraska Cornhusker fan , because that our football slogan" Go Big Red" I know its for tobacco, but I see dual collectability there. Great video!

I like the way you negotiate!!
I've been bringing batteries to test those little point n shoots before I buy em!
People really don’t understand list price vs sell price lol
You may be holding the brass things upside down. They kind of look like fireplace andirons that are missing the cast iron log holder part.
That guy going to have that box of filters for months
Those are andirons or chenets. You have them upside down on your eBay account. They’re probably worth a couple hundred dollars for the pair.
Thanks for the heads up!
The brass fireplace fronts go horseshoe down attach to bottom grate

at first i thought they were Fire Place Screen post ?

0:25 $15 for tape that looks dry rotted?
Those brass pieces looks like part of andirons
Harbor freight sells that tape for 6 bucks
The go big red belt buckle is not for Big Red chewing tobacco. It's for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. GO BIG RED!!!
If it's from the seventies your right I have some buttons from the time.
$15 for 6 rolls of packing tape...that better be gold packing tape 😁 Those were retail prices, they just needed a Walmart sign out front!
i'd charge even more than retail for unfunny losers like yourself
The brass was worth $35 to me as a collector all day long. If they were heavy pieces I’d pay $60 as a collector. From the lense of your camera they looked like light pieces from India. Still hate to see them sit though
love the advice!
Like dealing at auto swap meets!! Some don’t know what they want and others are way out of the ballpark!!
What a odd flea market, guy who won't haggle and another who can't come up with a price for his items and takes a half hr to come up with one
that was painful
Heavy Metal Magazine … too bad he didn’t have a whole bundle of them.
Flea markets suck, none of these guys want to make any deals on a rainy day.
Was that guy selling military flags given at a fallen soldiers funeral from the back of the truck

Wow, felt for you John.
John the best at his game
For sure!
I see that a lot with high prices at flea markets
They look like cowboy boots removers. 😊
Those brass things are andirons, they are missing the support bars, I was chuckling watch you guys trying to figure them out, for fireplaces
it is very annoying when a vendor has no idea what they want for something, standing there for 2 minutes going ummm ummmm hmmm ummm ........... ummm.......hmmmm
Not andrions.
The market is almost empty!
I wish you knew what those brass items were, I'll give you double what you paid for them.
I have weakness for wrestling figures id have bought them if they were cheap enough
I mean they were $20 each and you offered $10 each, don't try make the seller out to be the bad guy when you are lowballing like that.
Decorative fire place holders. "L" shaped metal leg would bolt to the back .....?
Uhhhh....um..uhhh..uhhh
Don't blame the guy for 60 dollar value filters. At 20 dollars is 33% value. 10 bucks apiece is like 10% of the value. That's too low.
I have some bad news for you, if $20 is 33% then $10 is 16.5% so your maths is way off.
Flee market.

If the seller won’t even stand up for the sale l just turn around and leave
I thought that too.
Give him a break. He’s old and probably retired. Not everyone can stand for 6 hours straight.
A few hours later ahhhh ahhhh ahhh
A lot of the cast iron banks where reproduced in the 40s and 50s so even though they are reproduced they are still antiques
Antique means 100+ years old. Made in the 40s or 50s would make them vintage but not antique
That's funny I have 3 antique cars and none of them are even remotely close to being 100 years old
Hey John, uuhhh... ummm..$#!@*..uhhhh...nice video
Traders World?
Close, Treasure Aisles
SUGGESTION...if you want packing tape, scotch tape, scissors, pens, markers, erase board, bankers boxes cheap, get a costco membership and get it on sale

Why did you pass up that six pack of packing tape for $15.00? That’s a steal!!!!😂
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh.

it really just depends on the time and place. I've struck out at many of them but I've also struck gold
