      I have a ‘stacked stringers’ video up that is very similar. Millermatic255 AutoSet/Pulse with .9mm/0.035” wire and 90Ar10Co2 is basically it, then it’s operator smoothness from that point.

    Rookie question here. Why did you use 2 different processes? Why Tig AND gmaw?

    • @KANEKIDWELDS
      @KANEKIDWELDS  3 года назад +1

      Its what I feel is most efficient. Tig is total control, where I can control buildup and penetration easier & have much less material to remove in finishing. The mig on the inside fillets is like 1000x faster and gives a nice soft profile for paint. The backsides were also reinforced with mig around the center section for strength.

    I've started orbital sanding my material before welding as a weld prep, after a week or so I got a notice that I work too slow and I should stop, now I weld hot rolled mild steel sheets without any prep with mill scale and all the oils on :D
    But my question is, what did he spray on his arm ? :D Sun cream ? :D

    • @husq2100
      @husq2100 3 года назад +2

      Try acid

    • @KANEKIDWELDS
      @KANEKIDWELDS  3 года назад +3

      This was getting powder coated and needed the adhesion prep before that, so sanding and prepping when the material is flat and accessible makes most sense to me. I don’t sandblast, and did the coating myself, so this saved me days of time in the end. Sounds like you need a new job. No prep as you mentioned is a call for catastrophic failures, hopefully it’s not for any structural product. - the spray I used for 95-120°f (no AC) indoor shop days at Sparks Motors, is a complete spectrum blocking UV helioplex spray. I have my own line of fabric UV protecting sleeves launching very soon!

    • @drakeswake
      @drakeswake 3 года назад +1

      @@KANEKIDWELDS Doesn't the weld arc put off UVC as well as UVA/UVB? It doesn't look like that spray protects from UVC.

    • @KANEKIDWELDS
      @KANEKIDWELDS  3 года назад +1

      @@drakeswake yes it does. The active compounds in the helioplex produce a longer lasting barrier against the UV a,b,c rays. The wavelength of the C rays (200-280) falls under protection of the coverage range of the compound in the spec charts (0-400, with highest effective wavelength coverage from 0-300). There is zero need to advertise it, since UVC is not naturally occurring due to the ozone layer in our atmosphere. UVC breaks down the helioplex compound faster, hence more applications than sun exposure (every 5hrs). *First signs of UVC exposure are redness, burns, and blisters & I’ve never had any. Simply don’t use or try it if you don’t feel safe. 🤘🏼

    • @rixogtr
      @rixogtr 3 года назад

      @@KANEKIDWELDS You’re right, that makes sense. As for the UV spray, does it really work? Is it really safe? I’ve had issues with UV exposure from welding (constant ~300A DC) and ended up having skin cancer, luckily they got it out so ever since I’m trying to do everything to protect myself. Tried welding sleeves, they’re extremely annoying, ended up wearing just classic work shirt with long sleeves lol

  • @GregariousAntithesis
    @GregariousAntithesis 3 года назад

    I dont get it, why TIG any of it if your just going to squirt weld most of it? Why arent you using a sand blasting cabinet instead of spending all that time sanding? Sanding can not even cone close to giving paint a bomb proof bond and metal prep for welding it plus it saves a ton of time. For someone who is one hell of a TIG welder your learning on metal prep is lacking monumentally.
