Another gift idea: most museums sell attractive art books featuring selections from their holdings, including books not necessarily available via their online shop. Last time I was in Paris I picked up a couple of these at the d'Orsay, one for a friend and one pour moi-même.

I can't believe you showed a shot of my favorite vintage clothing store in the Marais! I like to buy old things when travelling and hit the charity shops like Emmaus and brocantes for inexpensive antiques. I hauled 2 lovely old "pot de cuivre" copper cooking pots back in my luggage and they make me smile every time I see them shining on my kitchen wall.

On our most recent trip to Paris last fall we brought back a few items that were not your typical “souvenir”. I bought myself a gorgeous French made leather wallet at the stationary store that you showed in the video. My wife picked up a beautiful Italian leather purse at Blue Lemon and we also purchased a small watercolor painting of the Eiffel Tower done by one of the street artists who was set up outside Shakespeare and Co.

We also bought a watercolor painting at the Eiffel Tower. About a week ago. Actually, The gentleman gave me a discount when I bought two of them. I saved five dollars lol I’ve got one of the Eiffel Tower at night in the Eiffel Tower in the daytime. They were beautiful watercolors.

My favorite souvenir is perfume. There are many studies linking memory to smell. So, it's one of the first things I do while traveling. Upon arrival, I buy a perfume and wear it throughout the trip. When I wear it back home, I'm reminded of the adventure.
If in Paris, the Guerlain Flagship store in Champs Elysées has been open for business since 1914. It has wonderful architectural features. You can sniff till your little heart's content, find your fragrance, maybe even get a personalized bottle, then descend the stairs in the same store and get a little cake and tea, spritz on your new fragrance and stroll down the Champs Elysées.
Other recommendations are niche perfumery stores like Diptyque, Annick Goutal, D'Orsay and many more.
Another favorite place for souvenirs: Thrift shops. I see you were in one in this video. Great place to pick up something with history ❤
I loved the Monoprix recommendation. That's literally my first stop on arrival. I eat light dinners. So, it's easy to just pick up a few things and have a glass of wine, charcuterie and fruit at night as I lift my feet from all that walking I've done during the day.
Monoprix is also my last stop, along with a last minute macaron shop.

First I want to say thank you for all of these videos! We just spent 4 days in Paris and fell in love with it. All of your information helped us on our visit. Honestly, everyone was so friendly…yes, friendly and helpful. The one reminder about when shopping if planning to get VAT refund, you must have your passport on hand at the time of purchase (not a copy). We bought macaroons at Carret cafe/patisserie not far from the Eiffel Tower. They were amazing. Food, drinks, our hotel (Hotel Garden Elysee) the beautiful buildings and sites were such an amazing experience. Can’t wait to visit again as there is so much to see. The most comical to us was the traffic. Every man for themselves. CRAZY! BUT…….we also found most drivers to be courteous to pedestrians crossing the streets. I also realized how rude Americans can be and I am an American.

Hema is actually Dutch, so not typically French, but definitely affordable and fun. Jeff de Bruges is good for yummy chocolate, though, based on the name, it is probably Belgian rather than French.

Jacques Genin!! I always stop and load up. I also love that I can reuse their metal boxes for small items like paperclips or pens on my desk-so chocolate and a lasting souvenir! Genin is too expensive for gifts if you have a lot of people to buy for. I even feel guilty buying a kilo of caramels for myself! 😂😂😂

THANK YOU Antoine and Colleen for all of your educational videos I was able to enjoy over and over in preparation for a mother - daughter trip to Paris I took this late June and into July 2023. You do great work and I found your tips 100% valuable to have a safe and comfortable time while in Paris. I was very intimidated with taking such a big trip for 12 days in Paris but watching your videos (especially the ones on Metro) made me feel confident. Then once I was touring Paris, it all came together and made sense because your videos made everything recognizable and easy. Plus the scams out there - I saw them and knew what to do when I was approached - Thanks Colleen! You two are the best - keep up the great work.

Because of your appealing approach to introducing Paris to viewers, Paris is now on my TOP 5 Bucketlist! I can't wait to spend a month in Paris w/ your help! I have two questions for you: 1) I love your puzzle idea! Our granddaughter and I are puzzlers too, Colleen! The first choice is too monochromatic for us to pursue at 1K pieces. Will there be another puzzle coming out soon - perhaps (hint, hint) highighting your favorite bakeries or a map of your favorite Paris Neighborhoods???? 2) Is there a video in the works on your favorite toystores/bookstores of Paris. As a a grandma, I would love for you to share your "go-to" spots....although I know you made a few suggestions in your most recent videoss on souvenir shopping and local shopping streets..... Again, many thanks for all you do!

13:02 Mais oui! That line of Monoprix gourmet cookies is full of *delicious* treats. Any one of them would make a great gift, for sure! The noisette ganache praliné one is my personal favorite.

    Another stellar video!
You were standing in front of the Roger & Gallet display in Monoprix but didn't mention it - an excellent, traditional brand of absolutely gorgeous soaps, body lotions and fragrances, and cheaper than designer fragrances. They're suitable for both men and women.
Another option would be a parapharmacie where you can find a lot of little gift sets. Personally, Thé des Vignes by Caudalie is one of my favourite fragrances!
Many Americans also love European sunscreens.

Visiting Paris for the first time now and saw the video last night. Realized I'm staying very close to du Bruit dans la Cuisine, stopped in earlier today, and going home with some lovely flax kitchen towels in my favorite color and a pair of oven mitts, love your recommendation! Flipping through your guide now to help decide where to try next for dinner tomorrow 😊.

When I was there recently, I really liked We Are Paris (boutique). They have all local products (beauty, jewelry, home decor) and the prices were reasonable. I also went to Le Grande Epicerie and vacuum sealed some French butters to bring back as gifts 😊

I watched videos of the portrait artists in Montmartre on RUclips, picked my favorite artist and got my portrait drawn by him as a souvenir for myself. I love it and I love having that memory whenever I look at it! Professional photos by local photographers are also great self souvenirs wherever you go in my opinion!

Enjoyed the post, folks. My favourite French kitchen utensil is the little pot you put in the oven with éscargots and pistou. The snails sometimes explode tho', so be careful!

I’m in Paris now and need to get some souvenirs, perfect timing for your wonderful video. Thought of you today Colleen, I was eating the best croque monsieur I’ve had so far, crunchy cheese when it’s been cooked perfectly - yum! Lots of French around me ordering croques also@ le café Zéphyr. Delicious! So glad we found it! (We had tried to go to the Boulettes, from one of your videos- but it was closed. I should have checked hours.)

Oh, I Love the toy stores. I bought my granddaughter a miniature china tea set in a wonderful basket with a checkered table cloth. So adorable. And she loves it. My nemesis is the French cookies. A box a day is a little too much. Between those and the bread, I definitely needed some bigger clothes. And it's all right there! What a wonderful video. Thanks again!

Merveilleux! Important reminder to buy useful, delicious, or beautiful items to remember your holiday rather than tchotchkes that will be donated in a year or two. Pack super light and buy a sweater or top or whatever you forgot to bring. You'll remember and use that for years to come. Merci!

Hello! I just returned from the South of France spending my last 24 hours in Paris (first time in France). Thank you for recommending Boisnard & Stern for stationary - the sales assistant was friendly, graciously spoke English, and provided all the information I needed to choose just the right gift! I bought a beautiful fountain pen with accessories and a box of stationary embossed with the Eiffel Tower for a dear friend's birthday. I can hardly wait to see her face when she opens it!!!

This was really good ❤! You make me want to go back to Paris and hit up all of these wonderful shops 😊. The bookstores and stationary places you showed kind of remind me of barnes and noble in the US or similar bookstores. Conversely, I'd recommend anyone going to visit the US to go to a barnes and noble or local bookstore or even thrift at a Salvation army or goodwill versus a tourist shop because you'll find made in America (at thrift store) items from the past that you just can't find anymore for almost nothing. Anyways, great job again!
