- Ok guys, you asked for it! Heres my first crude attempt at a vlog and taking you guys along on my gig to Tempe with LANCO. Had a lot of fun recording this stuff, even thought the production quality is pretty low lol hang in there with me guys. I hope some of you find this interesting! Have a bunch more videos coming and so excited about it! Leave a comment telling me what you'd like to see more of!

IMO, part of the charm of RUclips vlogs is the unpolished quality. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
Thank you!!
Don’t worry at ALL about “low production values.” What that really means is “authenticity,” and that’s what we want. At the same time, it both shows why musicians would want to do this AND takes some of “glamour” out of it and shows us…it’s still work.
And you’re very good at your job. 😊
Thank you! I'm glad you guys are enjoying this type of style, I agree it keeps it more real. No B.S!
Some advice from an old guy who spent over 30 years making his living with music, much of it on the road. #1.
dint drink a beer in the afternoon. It will make you tired, and throw you off your stride. Better to not drink at all, but never before a gig. Save it for after the show. Makes life more manageable.
Good advice if the beer affects him the same way it does you, but we're all different.
Good advice in regular life too
Such a cool experience. Thanks for taking us with you. Someday before they put me in the ground, I'll fly to a gig on a huge stage with a huge crowd in front of me.
Thanks for watching David, I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
L
@TimAvenMusic you will be at 100k in know time I can tell your a nice humble guy and that there will take you far Love ❤from Vermont😊😮❤😂
What makes these videos valuable is the raw, real qualities, we don't want glossy, over produced content, so keep up the great work, very interesting!
You said a couple times in the video that you don’t know of people would like this. As someone who wanted to do what you do, I love it. Keep it up.
I'm glad you guys are enjoying it!
I enjoyed your video. You might consider cutting a slit under the foam of your pelican to bury a second airtag. Let them find the easy one.
Tempe is a great city, the rocks in the background look like Papago park.
Used to love hiking in those hills.
Hey Tim! Man, this is so fun. I'm 45 now, but in my younger years I did plenty of travel/recording/performing (mostly as a bass guy or drummer), and this video actually made me MISS those days! Nowadays I'm a solo dad to two teen daughters, but I'm getting back into songwriting/recording and you're making me want to start thinking about ROUND 2 of the "being a musician" gig. Cheers!
Being a musician myself for almost 40 years (playing, teaching, and now owning a music school), I think your videos and channel are fantastic!! I think people can really benefit from great working musician like yourself. For what it's worth, personally, I like videos without much editing and "bells and whistles." Keep up the great work. I have a feeling your channel is going to explode!!
I’m an amateur musician and I am amazed at what professional musicians are capable of doing. Musicians have said that when on tour, they are not paid for the 75-90 minutes they are playing music - they are paid for touring. That is, they’re paid for all of the stuff they have to do between performances. I think people like your videos because you are authentic, honest, and a cool dude. You’re also a helluva player.
I'd rather listen to a guitar player who really isn't a content creator than a content creator who really isn't a guitar player.
Amen
That’s kind of a rude take on a young guy making his way in the industry. It’s very cutthroat and people always rip other people off. It’s hard to find a way in the music. The fact he’s flying around and having fun is good for him. He will find his groove with exposure. Never gonna find it if you don’t put the effort in, and he’s got the effort in.
I don’t think it was rude. Tim said “I’m a guitar player not a video editor” in the video. Think that’s why a lot of us are here.
Very organic content. And hey, everyone appreciates the no BS approach. Great channel!
Tim, thanks for offering to take us with you on your journey. I think a lot hobby players who always dreamed of doing it for a living, like myself, will love this series.
Done that 40 years ago only we traveled in vans or on a tour bus. Didn't get rich but had a great time and have some great memories. My band got back together about 5 years ago after 37 years and we still had the magic. We played 3-4 shows a year then covid hit then our piano player/ leader moved to Arizona. We might do a get together sometime in the future. Now I play guitar in the Church praise team with some great musicians.
I never get to see the real day inside the glamorous life of a professional musician. This is cool and pretty unique. Thanks, love it, please keep going.
It's not glamorous, but that's what's cool about it. We're all everyday normal people at the end of the day
@@HipsterNgariman I know, it was tongue-in-cheek.
Cool video!!
You have 24 hours after your plane lands to report any damage to your guitars. It is smart to open your cases at the airport. I had an airline destroy the hinge area on a hard case. I made it to my friends house and discovered the damage at 1 in the morning. Ultimately the airline paid for a new case. That is what turned me on to SKB i cases. I have many.
Love your content. As an amateur musician who only plays farmers markets and open mics, I find it really interesting to see what happens in the world of a professional musician.
Bro please keep making these videos! long story short, I worked for ten years in finance and decided I loved my guitar more so music is my future. I love seeing someone with real experience share what it’s really like and not just the glamour shots. Lmao thank you!
Loved the video! I follow Tom Bukovac also that you’ve referred to before. He’s definitely a talented and successful player, but I actually like your content a little better. It’s a good look at the hungry years! I’m 69. I played when I was young but life got in the way for about 35 years! I picked it back up last year and have fallen in love with it all over! Keep playing dude and keep the videos coming!😊🎸
Love you dude, I wish more musicians had your attituded and outlook about gigging.
I'm an retired PA operator, nothing big just lot's of bands in the UK, the ego's of some musicians are just unbelievable. Hat's off to you and I wish you all the success in the world.
Have subbed and look forward to your future uploads.
Graham.
Thanks for the nice comment graham, I appreciate you watching and saying something!
Appreciate all the content you are posting for us bro, very cool 😎 I really enjoyed the inside info on playing gigs in Nashville, I'm in Upstate SC but have family in Nashville and yes I'm a weekend warrior lead guitar player for a couple bands. I've often thought of going to Nashville to play just for fun
Love the content Tim. Keep up the awesome info sharing, really enjoying,
Possibly another side of your video sharing you might not have thought of, is us old musicians who are giddy with being able to watch a young buck like yourself pay his dues, when we made our choice decades ago to *NOT* make the choice of “chasing our musical dreams”, and are glad of it, lol.
You are working your *ass* off, obviously, and the travel/hotels/ubers/buses/booze, etc can take a toll.
Luckily for us, you’ve got your head on straight, and are already experienced with some of the pitfalls.
Enjoy the journey bud, and HUGE thank you for taking us along for the ride!!
loved it. I don't mind the production roughness, it's the experience I love seeing. Hope it's not awkward to your bandmates. I know groups can get touchy about revealing soundchecks, sweats and tshirts, rough sounds and anything that's not shiny and chrome when it's all about the lime light. Us non-pro musicians love this though, seeing the life we dream about and will never live. Thanks man!
New to the channel and digging it! Between you and Lee Sklar I get to see two different stages of the same passion... very cool!
Great video - it is crazy all the work that goes into a show!
This is sick, thank you!! I'd love to see more gigs
You are doing a great job. Thanks for taking the time to document and post your experiences.
Tim I love your genuine content! Your style is unique and an awesome way of sharing your work with the rest of the world. Keep it up brother!
Very cool video! I've been playing in cover bands for over 25 years. It's the waiting around to play that always gets me. Keep flicking those strings my friend!
Thanks for taking us along to Tempe. Your guitar work is excellent. I appreciate the time and effort you are putting into your videos. Play on, Tim. 🎸
Great video, love the real life feel. As a working musician from the UK it's good to see how things work across the pond. I love the guitar vault, I've never seen one before and going to get one myself!
Thank you for doing this!
Your like watching a good friend tell how his day went. You play fantastic by the way!
You did a great video! Thank you for sharing your gigs with us, I look forward to more!
Wow. Great video. Love the little details that you won't see on most polished to no end videos. Glad I found you channel.
Such a neat guy to give us a unique and authentic look into the band scene and music in general. Thank you Tim
Man I dig what you are doing very raw and pure. No bullshit stuff
Great playing Tim. Keep the vids coming!
So appreciate the purity of your content - please keep it real, just like you're doing
Thanks so much Tim you guitar tone rocks. Love it
It’s exciting watching your channel grow!
Keep up the good work dude! Can’t wait to see more of these.
Hi Tim. I’m new to the channel and I’m really enjoying it. I’m actually a steel player sitting in my car waiting for my wife to get out of the doctors office before heading out to my gig.
I’ve been playing in local bands for many years. It’s been my dream to get to play and your level but that’s really not a problem at this stage of my life. I’m retired now, in my 60’s and still playing live gigs.
I’m a lucky man! Thank you for posting the life that I’ve always dreamed of living. I’m really enjoying it.
Your a genuine dude showing a rad life ! People are gonna stay to watch you. Kiko formally from Megadeth did these on the road vlogs a few years ago and seemed like he nailed the formula, they were so freakin cool to watch. Keep up the good work brother 🤘 🎸
It's definitely interesting seeing your "a day in the life" video. Keep doing what you're doing. You come across very down-to-earth and sincere. Obviously, others are enjoying your vids as much as I am because you've gained about 2K subscribers since I subscribed a few days ago.
Great videos, please keep them coming!
Great video Tim, thanks! When I was in a band it was 5 guys in a van pulling a Uhaul trailer. We loaded everything in/out ourselves and I drove the van. It was tough but those were some really good times. You have a sweet gig there man and it seems like you've earned it. Cheers
Keep the gig videos coming. The video quality is fine, editing is fine, Just be yourself young fella. We'll be watching. God Bless.
Hey Tim this is a great video and love the 'insider' commentary you're providing. I'd love to see some shots of what you're seeing too and you can narrate about the different rooms, views, stages, whatever. Keep it coming!
great video, very interesting stuff behind the music world scenes!
Hey dude! Just found your channel and am loving your videos. I'm moving to Nashville in a month so these videos are perfect timing!
Alright! Tim, you've got a new fan in me. AND I dig your casio watch too.
I really like the inside story we get from you. Keepem coming.
I Did This For 10 Years In The 80`s LOL Love It Tim Great Stuff!
Have seen your LANCO music vids. NICE! Tim, you have a good pro player attitude.
Hi Tim. I enjoy your videos a lot because you get what you see. You give a real insight into the music business. I hope you don’t change your presentation format. Over the years I have seen a few you tubers start off just like your self but they go commercial and forget about the initial supporters. I enjoy anything that you do and I wish you the best in your new venture.
Bravo and well done! Enjoy it while you’re still young as time marches on quickly. Think of the long game and plan accordingly as we all grow old rather quickly.
Great job Tim! Subscribed. You're currently at 4.77K subs so, your channel's catching fire dude! Press on!
Absolutely love this. Thank you for your honesty. Love the background. 😂
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
I am really enjoying the content of you videos. A day in the life of a professional musician is great.
You are doing what I wish I could have done. Keep up the good work, my friend!
.
I found your channel last week Tim and I'm really enjoying it!
You are a very talented young man who brings a lot to LANCO who was already a great band!
Keep playing! Keep the great content coming and keep taking us along!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you're enjoying the content and thank for the great compliment! More to come!
I am glad I discovered your channel, been watching a few and have enjoyed them. I love it that you are real!!
Thanks so much, I’m glad you’re enjoying all the content. More to come!!
Awesome at what you do buddy..skies the limit for you!
Really enjoying ur videos man. Love the PRS guitars ❤
Tim, you are doing this in a perfect way to make us happy! Thank you.
You're doing great. Really enjoy it. It's good for you too because it helps you with the self discipline you need for building your career on the road. I've seen a lot of careers implode from a lack of self discipline on the road. Lotta crazy temptations out there trying to derail an upcomer like you. Good chops too my man!
Thanks great… we watch because it’s a vicarious thing… and you’re getting better at what you’re doing on these videos
Really enjoyed. You and Uncle Larry are both great. Lovely souls and great guitarists!!
Thank you kindly!
Great video man. Hope to see more in the future.
And almost 8k subs! Good job young man!
My name's Chandler, too! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
I’m an old road dog myself. My advice, no afternoon drinking before the gig, or during the gig. That should be saved for when you know you’re done and can truly relax.
I figure one beer won’t hurt if the gig is 7 hrs later…IF you can stop at one lol!
Better advice. Don't drink at all. It's a useless practice.
@@dv8322yeah! Smoke weed instead, but only after the gig/when you’re home. On stage= no substances😅
@@jimi272
Weed is just as useless. Why do people feel they need to be fucked up to enjoy anything? It's really sad.
@@dv8322 ok one more stupid comment from me and I’m out! Sooo many of our most celebrated musicians were stoned or drinking when they wrote (and performed ) many of our favorite songs! It’s no secret that moderation is also key. I wish we could all be stone cold sober but it doesn’t work for most. Congrats on your sobriety though…
I absolutely love gig and tour vlogs and this video is awesome I love the behind the scenes stuff
Thank you! Im glad you enjoyed it!
Watching this brings back a ton of memories from my days on the road with The Eclipse Band out of Indy back in the 80s. The biggest show I ever played was at Edge Water Raceway outside of Cincy. We had over 25,000 people at that show. The stories I could tell about that experience would blow your mind. I was using Music Man amps in those days. I still have my HD 130 head from that show. I think it was 1984 or 85 cant really remember. The ahow was put on by The American Fed. Of Riders to raise money for orphanges around Cincinatti.
Amazing video. Great job great guitar 🎸 playing. #LANCO
Really enjoyed this. Gonna share what drives me crazy "hard edits". A couple years ago, those seemed to be a thing. To me, it was like the video was glitching & having seizures. Love the rawness to the realness of no or very little edits. Just let it fly & be real. Tim, trust me this was fine. Didn't really notice edits other than the audio. Gonna watch a few of your videos tonight. I can already tell you're a very nice person. That seems to be rare these days. I'm trying to see what breed of dog that is on your shirt. It looks like a blue tick or a hunting dog. I have a Mountain Cur/GSD mix male & a GSD female. Oh, & a gray cat & other cats that people dump that end up at my house. I've been watching videos of the large rock festivals that are happening right now. Been watching drum cams & a lot of interesting content. Watched some load in & load out. At these huge festivals, they've got it figured out like a well oiled machine. It's fascinating to me. Oh, I like Tim Montana. He's been playing these big festivals. It's the first show of the day but hopefully people are still seeing/hearing him. Really like to see people succeed that have been working hard & are appreciative. @ 8:50 it's a Labrador. Oh, I've had Labs too. Love that breed a lot. Tim, just a month ago you had 1K subs. Today, you're at almost 9K. Congratulations! Yes, you can get a copyright strike because of music playing in the background but it depends. I don't know what the factors are. I'd just be careful. @ 14:24 yes, I'm unique! ;) Just checked the band page. You've got a gig in Ohio. I might check it out. In that one week, there's 5 shows I want to go to. It's so weird. This year, they're all bunched up like that. Thanks, for sharing the Green Room. Catering can be good or bad! Also, think Riders are interesting. Shows the personality of the band & what they want. Thanks, for sharing. You sound great!
Can't wait to see a day in the life on Broadway....hint hint😎😎🤘🤘
Such a good vlog showing your real life. In terms of copyright, if I were you I would play it on the safe side because you never know with these companies. I wish you well in your journey!
Great video! Loved hearing all about Nashville. Pay is what I expected. You are doing great if you can make enough money to live on by playing music. Keep playing bro! This video is great! Will be subscribing for more.
Another great video, new subscriber....keep them coming! Cool and real! Awesome!
I watch guitar vids and stumbled onto your channel via another persona I have on YT. These videos you make are so enjoyable, informative, entertaining. Love the stuff.
Hey Tim, I stumbled on your video man and it's pretty cool bud. Phoenix is my home town but I live in Australia so it was great to see my stomping grounds. And a cool behind the scenes look. Keep it up man. Good job.
VERY interesting Tim. Keep it up, I am a new fan.
Loving the stuff dude, so much fun seeing your view on it all. Loads of love from Wigan in the U.K.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it!!
This is great man! So cool to see what its really like ☀️😎😎
Glad you like it!
Good stuff. I dig the content you're putting out.
I sure am glad that I found your channel you are very interesting.I was very glad to see tht you are waaaayyy over 1000 now!!!
Man checking your guitars must be nerve wracking. Ohhh editing this post as I just saw that sweet case. A little less nerve wracking, but...Loving the raw vlog. Keep RAW VLOGGING it! lol
Very cool video dude. Congrats!
Interesting! Congrats on the 1,000 subs!😎👍
…but mow it is heading toward 6 thousand!😎👍
Dope cool to watch it all.
Awesome video man! It's fun being a fly on the wall and seeing behind the scenes! Maybe at some point you can show us your delay settings? I use a helix for my gigs & I'm struggling with getting the right mix for my lead.... and now you're over 3k subs congrats! Yes I agree with the masses.... phone video is great...just keep it real & be genuine...people crave that... nice work!
Cool Videos. Enjoying your content.
Your Hard Work is paying off!!! Stay Humble..Thank's for sharing your journey...Can't believe your not Jet lagged out also lol...Great Channel ..You'll do well here..😎✌
